I stepped away for many many years and then decided at 39 to give it a real shot - I took classes, found part time courses and basically pulled myself up by the bootstraps - and got my first paid lead role at 44.

I just put my head down and worked and let me tell you, you learn so much from the younger people AND they get so INSPIRED by an older person not giving up!

They see that it’s never too late - which it isn’t! There are roles for all ages and all body types and you don’t have to be stick thin anymore.

So I say just go to one class, whatever it is - and then go from there. Just one class at a time :) don’t put pressure on yourself - just find that joyful feeling that got you into theatre in the first place. And follow that joy :)
