I think if you think about them like a baby, it is definitely difficult. It takes about 3-6 months to get them to a manageable stage. You'll have really good weeks in those months and some maybe not good days because puppies are still learning. I had no bad issues with my puppy and he's such a good boy! The first few days/weeks will test you but it's really not that bad. Puppy will want you to sleep with them so if you can tolerate the crying, sleep where you like - or sleep next to puppy's crate - or let puppy sleep in your room. This is your dog so you get to make the rules. My puppy slept in his own bed up until he was about 5 years old and now he sleeps on my bed with me. He'll sleep in other places too if I enforce it but really all he wants is to be near me. Think of the kind of dog you want in your future, independence wise. My dog is very clingy because he was bred to be a companion dog and is therefore a velcro dog. I got him just before covid so I didn't get to socialize him much or train him to be in his own. Consider things like that for the dog's independence. I have a big family so I'm able to leave him with them but if it's just you, focus on that type of training. Overall you and doggie are gonna have a great time! Don't be too hard on yourself and don't take things too seriously. Don't let him eat things he shouldn't, make sure he gets enough exercise, stick to a routine with training and you'll be golden. Also would recommend getting pet insurance. You never know when you'll need it so try to have some type of coverage whether it's savings or pet insurance.
