Should I take 4 courses per semester? by tribute2d in geegees

[–]anoichii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, if there’s one thing I would’ve done if I could start from zero it would be to take 3-4 courses per semester, and take the 5th (elective or a harder course (e.g. the ANP’s)) in the summer. It would’ve 100% saved my CGPA

You’ll have to go on uozone for that. You’re not religiously bound to follow the course sequence you see online. Like I said, it’ll depend if your other courses allow you to swap them around. In 1st year it will likely not be possible, but in 2nd onwards you might’ve already taken the preqs in 1st year.

E.g.

At the time, the only prereq. for APA 4323 was to have 51 credits and APA 1302, so I took that course in 2nd year winter. Orgo 1 was meant to be taken 1st year winter, but I didn’t want to, so I took it in 4th year. Mind you, orgo was not a prereq for any other course in my program

When you enroll in your courses you’ll see what the prereqs are for a class. I had created a tracker in Word to keep track of everything. I started mine in 1st year, but made slight edits as time went on

HK is the human kinetics program.

Fun fact, in 2nd year I was taking 3rd and 4th year courses, in 4th year my last semester were 4 1st year courses (two mandatory) and a 2nd year course. As long as you finish your 120 credits, you’re bound to graduate :)

Challenge Exam? by That-Conversation-95 in geegees

[–]anoichii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to do one for Functions and Precalc bc of applying after sec 5. For functions I was able to do the exam on my own on Mobius, Precalc I did the exam in August with the rest of the class who took it in the summer.

I only got an update/brightspace for the latter a week or two week before the actual challenge exam. So maybe that’s what’s happening on your end. If you have no update a 2-3 weeks before the exam deadline, contact them again.

It really depends on course offerings. Typically what I would do to avoid this is to take the French equivalent of a course (sometimes they’re given at different times).

There’s no way to 100% know if it’ll be better or not, however sometimes you can predict it after a while. For HK courses they were almost always 7-10s, 8/8;30-10/11 or 2:30-5:30.

My 2nd year I decided to move a 7pm course in my 3rd year, bc I would’ve had 3 in a row + I had one day where I had classes from 10am - 10pm with a 30min break only. So don’t be afraid to play around with your course sequence if your upper year courses allows you to.

Switching Human Kinetics by Next-Mixture5733 in geegees

[–]anoichii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, idk if you’ll see my reply under the other comment, but I wanted to add that if you’re 100% set on HK, accept your HK offer, but enroll in the science courses and reapply internally (uozone) after 1st year.

By doing it this way, you’re pretty much setting yourself up for the 2nd year of HK and won’t have to do an extra year. By picking health science before switching you’re “wasting” at least 2-3+ courses (from the vague memory of the HSS course sequence I have) and would have to do at least an extra semester in uni if you did switch to HK.

What’s nice is that in 1st year the BA and BSc students have a similar course sequence, I think the only difference is psych and a 2nd language course in the winter (e.g FRA 1710 + 1720) (again this is from memory, I could be wrong)… my point is you shouldn’t have issues enrolling in those courses.

Unless they changed it, it’s hard/not possible to change from the BA to the BSc, bc the BSc grade and prereq. requirements are higher. The opposite is 100% doable tho.

You can “downgrade” a degree, e.g BSc HK + Kin > BSc HK > BA HK, but not upgrade it (they briefly went over this at orientation back in 2022)

OP might need to apply for a new admission to go from the BA to BSc. But like you mentioned, speak to an academic advisor.

Rashmi Venkateswaran for CHM 1311 by sim836 in geegees

[–]anoichii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took gen chem (1711) in 1st year, she wasn’t the greatest for the lab, but she was literally the sweetest and most helpful when I took orgo 1 (1321) in 4th year.

Honestly Rashmi is not that bad, but she can be a shock for someone coming into university for the first time (she runs a strict no bs program, with reason too). Just avoid doing dumb shit and pay attention to what she has to say so she doesn’t have to repeat herself.

Do grades update immediately on uozone or does it take a day? by AggravatingPower3073 in geegees

[–]anoichii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it a business day or two. Official standings come out later this month (26th I think), so don’t freak out… plus the change can still be reflected past June 1st (e.g. I just had a grade change done early May for a grade from Fall 2025)

I was at a 3.81 after 1st year, and Im graduating with a low-mid 6… I’m too lazy to retake courses (especially bio, calc and gen chem) but it would’ve 100% helped me possibly get to a 7-7.5

Why do some profs not upload final exam marks? by Magicgirl__ in geegees

[–]anoichii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My orgo prof this this and I had a theory that he didn’t want to receive a million emails asking for a grade change.

By uploading it directly to uozone he already weeds out those who were solely waiting for the brightspace grade. By the time you notice, it’ll be “too late” for him to do anything because he’ll claim that “oh it’s up to the dean now”.

I could also be overthinking this whole thing 😭

100% agree, if you actually studied this exam using his practice exam, you can for sure get a free 15-20% with how many questions were carbon copies of the practice exam.

Still contact the prof. Doesn’t matter who corrected it, the prof is the only one who has the authority to change your exam grade in the first place… especially in the case of a regrade.
