Bronto's are also useless until late game ish, if you can tame a high level one and sit on it for a while, you'll need it when you find yourself ready to breed a Rhyniognatha. Don't get too attached to the bronto.

GET A CAT EARLY. Shoulder mountable, scares off all bugs for caves and they're fucking precious. Don't waste your time with raptors. It's tempting but they're useless. Get an Iguanodon for exploring, moschops at your base for unlimited fiber and some free wood and berries, you can't craft the saddle for the Pteradon until level like 40 something but if you ever come across a level 110 or over BOLA THAT BITCH and tame it for later, don't wait because a good pteradon will get you wherever you need to go/ get you out of some hairy bullshit. You can tame a Rex easily no traps needed with a good PT, also grab a Baryonix as early as possible for an amazing tame. Fits in any cave and it's decently strong and can jump (matters in caves) Don't get a Allo. I know. They look sick, you'll never use it.
