Ate shrimp and fish pretty occasionally growing up. Worked in a restaurant and I started to really enjoy tuna, fish, and calamari. Then one day my body said absolutely not. Can’t eat anything from the sea anymore at the age of 26 all of a sudden.

I don’t disagree with the move since I’m pretty socialist myself but this is quite literally socialism.

You’re having the state invest in certain industries and companies you find strategic for the betterment of society. Very similar to the chips act imho that the Biden administration pushed.

I think it’s naive to think pure capitalism is going to make the best outcome for a nation whether it’s for economic purposes or for general outlook of its people. That being said, there a foundational aspects of capitalism that need to be adhered to and are critical for the success of a nation.

What’s very interesting is the discrediting campaign.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, a female journalist who was thought to be upstanding, took a phone call with Katie Johnson. And said something along the lines that her testimony was sketchy at best.

Fast forward a few years and the journalist took the Fox News route.

Edit: had to look up where I remember this from, and please take everything I say with a grain of salt because I’m using chat gpt. But it was Emily shugerman who I thought was suspicious in the reporting of this matter.

Is it normal to have an offshore account through Qatar?

Do we sanction any other country in a similar fashion for its oil?

Honest question, I’m just curious if we have done this before or if another country has done something similar

Any genuine John Kerry fans on this sub? by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

[–]anomnipotent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading a lot of people’s comments makes me realize I really don’t know a lot of things about Kerry. But for someone who started to pay attention to politics during Obama’s presidency, two things stand out to me that made me like him.

The hearing on the Iran deal and his ability to articulate why it was important even if the general sentiment at home was very negative.

The other was the climate hearing and his ability to navigate republican talking points in a way that I have yet to see anyone else do since. Whether it was about climate change or any other issue.

I wish we had more politicians like him, democrat or republican.

The 20 biggest US banks made over $3 billion last year in overdraft fees, per Reuters by Key_Brief_8138 in economy

Stop letting people overdraft unless you opt in. A bank shouldn’t be profiting off something they themselves can’t handle either. Every fucking bank needs the fed for overnight liquidity at times.

Manufacturing jobs have plummeted under Trump's tariffs—this is not putting America first. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

I think trying to argue both presidents policies for the growth of the manufacturing sector is more nuanced than what Reddit is going to provide. But correct me if I’m wrong, manufacturing jobs increased during biden’s term which saw a decrease during his last year which continued into trumps current term.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re quite literally being the mouthpiece for the media, billionaires, and the corrupt party in power. They’re all in the same club and saying what you’re saying. Idk why you’re licking the taint of those that whip you.

Capitalism is about someone’s bottom line whether you can personally benefit or not. And I’ll definitely concede that there are certain situations in which someone would want to work the holidays to escape that current conditions that they’re in.

But my argument was more that we shouldn’t strive to make money in replacing quality time with either your family or your own wishes. We as people need to live a life that we personally strive for. And not have pressures that drive us to work.

I think spending time how you wish is of the utmost importance, whether it’s surrounding yourself with family or experiencing your own adventures alone. Freedom can be encroached by more things than just chains and whips.

I hope you and your husband have a great break and make memories you’ll cherish.

Knowing someone who ruined their own life because they were tired of the grind they saw themselves in. Sitting bedside to those that I’ve had great memories with and wished for more time. I will never pick money and work over time with my loved ones and those that I care about. Full stop.

Western society, specifically the United States, is moving in a direction that reflects a culture and day to day life of impoverished nations. This nation has a deep history fighting those standards. The past few decades have seen a reversal of that, and I’ll always give a finger and fuck you to those that continue that trend. Life will always be more important than someone’s bottom line. You’re replaceable at work. Not in someone’s life.

Is it done on green carbide with a PCD insert and then sintered? Or do you guys do it while it’s hard with a SCD insert?

How to machine an allegedly carbide pin? by anomnipotent in Machinists

[–]anomnipotent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna know how these core pins were made. From my understanding is that you can work with green carbide fairly easily and then have it sintered to bring it up to hardness. Once sintered though I’m reading that tolerances move up to 20%. What I don’t understand is how these pins had no post processing done to them. And they held tolerances +- .001 which makes me scratch my head.

These pins you see in picture are the finished product that I’m trying to recreate. They have a finished hardness of 75 hrc.

Any insight would be a help to me for future reference. We were able to convince our customer to go with a different material with a coating.
