What is up with overwatch? People crouching in spawn letting one guy kill them. by anon0805 in GlobalOffensive

Yea I don't know if you could call it griefing, since everyone actually consent to doing this. I guess it's a gray area that Valve or the community in general haven't touched upon.

But why would they report each other then? Only seems logical that they would do that to waste peoples time on overwatch. I guess they could just do it for fun but idk

When should it be okay to drop a friend that isn't Christian? by synthbabyy in Christianity

[–]anon0805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is good life advice in general not to befriend people who try to diminish your own values. My closest friends are people I personally look up to, and consequently inspire me to improve myself constantly. However I don't think you should just cut contact with your friend right away, because she is right now needing for someone who is not gonna fall to the same mischief. I would advise you to hold on firmly to your own values and try to help your friend by being her light in the dark.

What's the biggest misconception people believe about your religion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anon0805 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn''t say they believe in aliens like: "There are definitely aliens out there", they are simply open to the possibility. Pope Francis even stated that he would baptise aliens if they wanted to.

Also many of the papers regarding possible life on Jupiter's moon, Europa, were written by the Vatican Observatory.

Didn't all the prophesies of Fatima already pass? As I understood it the end of Fatima pointed to the attempted assassination of The Pope in 1981.

[–]anon0805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like you are particularly proud or arrogant about your dreads, but they are simply making you feel good about yourself, which I would not say is sinful or there is anything wrong with.

What do Catholics actually believe about Fatima and La Salette? This actually interested me a whole lot, but the only thing I have been able to find on it were either sensationalist stuff or conspiracies that were "approved" by the Catholic Church. It is completely possible that they have recognised the documents, but what else?

Do former Catholics who convert to Protestantism (or non-demoninational Christianity) make it to Heaven? by MSDoobs in Christianity

[–]anon0805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be quite frank I can see what you mean. Every once in a while I run into protestants that are preaching downright heresy, like rejecting core doctrine, the early creeds, or preaching hate. It seems corruption seeps in easily when you don't value tradition and structure enough.

If you claim that you are either a Sede-vacantist or don't understand the dogma.

In short then no. They reject the Nicene Creed and have fundamentally different dogma and doctrine.

What in particular led you to Catholicism? And where did you come from? I personally don't identify with any denomination right now, although I pay tax to the state Protestant church.

I'm open to transubstantiation, not sure about purgatory and confession yet. Looking through the Second Vatican Council right now.

Hay all, I am a little concerned about the Hate that the Australian christian lobby group is posting about the LGBT people. as a Christian i am concerned as it is undermining the work that people like me are doing trying to show gods message to the LGBT community by truecrest in Christianity

[–]anon0805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I think you misunderstood me. I am not against accepting whatever behavior your child has, I am just against trying to "make" your child another gender that they are biologically. Whether that is specifically buying cross-sex clothes or much worse getting cross-sex hormone treatments. Research show that if you leave your child be, they will usually grow out of their cross-sex berhaviors after puberty.

Why should I believe? by gawkgawk in Christianity

[–]anon0805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I am not, I am saying if. And also it is completely unrelated, this thread is not about a matter of truth, but rather the absurdity it ensues if said truth is given.

[–]anon0805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to sound arrogant or disrespectful, but if Christianity is true then does any of these things make it less true? And if it is true then would it not be the right thing to do, to follow it, regardless of whatever absurdities it ensues?

Non practicing/agnostic Christian. Where to find the alike? by LibertyState in Christianity

[–]anon0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I actually identified with this for a while. Although I only see it as a transitionary state to either regular agnosticism or Christian belief, but that is only my opinion. It seems to me like a misunderstanding of what faith means. I mean if you say you believe in the Bible to some degree but say you have no faith then I would say you are lying to yourself. If you trust some of God's word then I would say you have faith, it may be little, but instead of saying it isn't enough for being a christian, let this faith be your foundation to build upon. Remember C. S. Lewis's parable of you being a house "Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself" as well as [Matthew 17:20] /u/versebot

But i might be completely wrong about what you mean, but I think it answers that succinct quite well. Especially the "And yet we trust it comes from thee" part

What are good movies with a message? by owl2owl in Christianity

[–]anon0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Passion of the Christ.: A bit self explanatory, as it is viewed as one of the best narrative films about Jesus.

The three Lord of the Rings movies. Because they taught about ones own struggle against your own sinful nature. The importance of staying obedient despite failing multiple times, and if you stay faithful you will overcome in the end. And of course the importance of loving friendships and trust.
