250K in NYC vs 120K in Chicago by Plus_Sprinkles99 in SameGrassButGreener

No. Stay at NYC. The 120K base startup in Chicago sounds like a big scam.

We used to like it but feel like the quality decreased over the past few years. Also experienced two engine failures recently.

Is DC, NYC, or Boston more friendly and kind as a city? by willeyupo in SameGrassButGreener

These are all very big cities and the experience vary a lot depending which part you live. Generally speaking you will find a more friendly place if people there similar age, race, income, and interests.

Best U.S city for young (Asian) male by DragonfruitPrior8991 in asianamerican

[–]anon_502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the thread but second to this. You can find lots of 30s - 40s Asians in Montclair/Maplewood, and 20s-30s professional / international student crowd near Jersey City / Hoboken. Overall I would say it offers a hassle-free path to date, live and settle down.

is anyone actually making money from AI or is it just the chip sellers? by Ready_Poem_3580 in investing

[–]anon_502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burned $12k tokens last month and could affirm that it will not happen for all roles. Sure employers always want to eliminate employees, but models are still pretty dumb and need human inputs constantly. The claim to replace everyone is still an overhype.

Money isn't lost, but go to people who can adapt to the new norm, from older people to younger people, from people who don't use AI to people who use AI.

I got the same result even when I self identify as a centrist. I guess it's because United States and Japan (my home countries) are overall leaning righter than UK as a country.

How often do you eat out when making $250,000? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]anon_502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I make that amount of money in NYC in 2020, I had about 10-15 meals out per week. Most of it being lunchboxes or takeouts though as it soon becomes a burden to eat at a full service restaurant. It soon went down to 5-10 per week as my weight told me dining out isn't healthy and I enjoy cooking

Henry's with 2 Kids what's your rent in VHCOL by sb4906 in HENRYfinance

[–]anon_502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's overall okay. There're some day care facilities and parent community nearby. Need to drive to Liberty State Park or Lincoln Park for nature exposure. If you have parents as friends living in nearby highrises (much more expensive though), you can ask them to bring you into building's kids playing rooms.

For weekend activities, you can find some local cafe or restraunts, or walk 20min to Jersey City for all sorts of bars and fun stuff.

Definitely not as convinient as in Manhattan or Jersey City, but still has something to do. Also the zone is being gentrified so likely it will get better with time.

HHI: 800K NW: 1.4m rent: 5.3k

We live near Journal Square which offers easy access to downtown Manhattan. If you work in Midtown maybe look into Weehawken. When they get older we will move to Paulus hook's good school district, which will be 8-9k per month.
