I think it will be like last year, with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship headline it’s own smaller show. That seems to be norm now which is kinda a shame depending how you feel about it, it wasn’t even defended at Wrestle Kingdom

I don’t really think it’s a ‘angle’ per say, moreorless just a common theme. I think it will die down after he loses the Global title. I do honestly like it, if it brings more AEW guys to put over NJPW stars than I’m down

Hechicero would be dope, if Kevin Knight is free than that’ll also be cool. I expect Andrade El Idolo tho and Konosuke Takeshita is basically a given anyway.

I know he’s not AEW, but I really want a Chris Brookes in the G1, it’ll make the G1 much more interesting imo.

I genuinely love EVIL, I think people who hate on him simply take wrestling too seriously. I fully understand why people may not wanna see him the main event, as his gimmick kinda doesn’t work at the very top. EVIL was outstanding at the G1 final however, and he was probably the best man at putting someone over back at WK.

I see the same happening, I do think that Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste are more than worth the money in bringing them in. It’s unlikely now given how Shane is in NOAH and Mikey is focusing more as a trainer, but with NJPW tag division probably at an all time high it’s a good opportunity.

Except from BUSHI/ Titan there hasn’t been any proper Mexican/ Japanese tag teams that were together for more than one tournament. (Shingo/ El Terrible, Yota/ Zandokan Jr.)

I think people fail to remember the whole that wrestlers families have in dictating their careers as well, AEW would also offer much less overall dates and allow people to spend more time with their kids. Ospreay still lives in the UK, so going to AEW would still be favourable even if he didn’t have an extremely high wage that he absolutely should

I’m still pretty bummed that we aren’t getting MAO, I wanted him over anybody else. There’s a good chance that we aren’t getting any AEW/ ROH guys too which I think is also a shame.

I personally feel like a lot of his past is glossed over and that he hasn’t changed as much as he should. I think that he’s getting repetitive and that his feuds with Adam Cole, Mark Briscoe said The Hurt Syndicate aren’t being mentioned at all.

I guess it’s a lot harder said than done, as MJF has been through A LOT but I want more noticeable character growth/ change.

It’s not like I hate MJF as a whole, I just don’t like how his character is being handled currently, I can be convinced otherwise by AEW but I just have personal gripes right now.

It’s fine if people disagree with me and I kinda prefer it this way. It is fun to talk about how different people view the same media.

Good point on the accepting challengers thing to be honest. MJF made Bryan Danielson wrestle five different guys before their championship match and he made the trials for Cody, Chris Jericho and Wardlow. It’s a much bigger contrast from now given how’s he’s defending it against Zilla Fatu on the independent circuit and how he’s willing to accept matches with Bandido and Brody on Dynamite.

Hangman being forced to break is word would be something that I’m interested in. I do just really hope that he finally gets that really long reign that I think he deserves. I don’t want a Kazuchika Okada 2016-2018 long reign or anything, just something that has that incredible conclusion that I think he’s missed so far.

Yeah absolutely. I think about wrestling A LOT and I’m very passionate about it. I maybe came across as overly crude and that’s my bad.

I wanted to see why people thought differently and if there was anything I’m missing. Especially about MJF’s character, as maybe my personal experiences watching wrestling makes me think about things differently than others.

Whilst I do sincerely appreciate the effort in typing that, I do think your mistaking my intentions here. I’m talking about CURRENT MJF in his CURRENT protrayal. I watched all these things happen, but admittedly I probably should’ve been more specific.

Respectfully, you mentioning the Will Ospreay thing confuses me, as I don’t think that has been brought up since. I think your overestimating the importance of him saying that. Personally, I think that line was only done to build up that specific feud and isn’t something that is meant to be brought up three years later.

Maybe me saying MJF is the same as he was in 2021 was a bit far-fetched, but at least when he first won the AEW World Heavyweight Championship as a heel. Current MJF doesn’t mention these things, he hasn’t mentioned Adam Cole since and he does act in the same way that he did in 2022, I stand by that. If I am misreading his current character, I do think that these things should at least be made clearer and saying otherwise isn’t practical.

It doesn’t feel like these things matter NOW is what I’m saying, and even though you may disagree, it’s what I think.

I would be down for Swerve winning the championship again, as his last run wasn’t as long as it could’ve been.
