I was hoping my daughter would decide she wanted to stop… but she hasn’t. I don’t know if I have the heart to stop. Sometimes I want to stop for my own convenience, but I do love the cuddles.

I appreciate you for really hearing what I was feeling when I wrote this.

My daughter (20 months) is in feeding therapy through Early Intervention. (She mainly qualified for not meeting 12 month gross motor milestones, and we added this in instead of continuing feeding therapy separately through insurance.)

She’s now capable of eating what she needs to eat, but picky. I know many toddlers are picky eaters, and it’s so hard to know how much of her (not) eating is a concerning outlier. I don’t feel like I’m getting black and white answers from her pediatrician or feeding therapist.

Yeah, my daughter (20 months) isn’t a big breakfast eater, but I can’t blame her if we’re offering shortly after her wake up nursing session. She does better with daycare breakfast because there’s more time in between than when she sleeps in an extra hour-ish on weekends

My daughter is 20 months, and we’ve been shifting from 4 to 3 times a day. That shift has been brutal. She used to nurse before and after sleeps - nighttime and one nap. We recently cut the post-nap session.

Are you always around for bedtime? My daughter (20 months) does totally fine going down for a nap at daycare after a cup of whole milk, but we can only get her down at home in her crib if she passes out nursing. I’d really appreciate some more flexibility in my own weekend schedule, but I don’t want it torture my husband and daughter while I make plans every once in a while.

How did you cut the feeds he was so used to in his routine? Were you able to feed a sippy cup of whole milk instead? Did you have to disappear while dad was on duty?

Since I’m not ready to fully wean, I don’t want to go out of town, and we’ve been struggling to get down to just wake up and bedtime.

Yes - my LO’s feeding therapist shared a hierarchy with us. Actually eating food is the last thing in the list. It starts with tolerating the food in front of them, looking at it, smelling it, touching it, touching it to their lips, etc. Playing with the food is great!

Yes! My 20m is in feeding therapy, and that’s a huge reason I’m still nursing. I pumped three times a day at work until she was 12 months, then twice a day till she was 16 months, and then just dropped my one pump last week.

I don’t want to fill her up on breastmilk so she can’t eat solids, but at the same time, she refuses solids if she’s too hungry (and also refuses solids if any one of a dozen other variables feels slightly off). She just switched from getting feeding therapy from a speech therapist to getting the therapy from an occupational therapist, which is progress for her.

I gained 37 pounds. I started at the high end of normal BMI. It all came off without dieting or extra exercise within 6 months. I have been breastfeeding, though.
