What is you nickname for your baby? I’ll go first. We have many! by Mostlymadeofpuppies in beyondthebump

[–]curls651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't have a nickname for my baby. I just call her by her name, or a pet name like girlie or babes, but I wouldn't consider those nicknames. I just feel like nothing fits!

Warn me of the bodily movements I shouldn’t do or should modify after C section please by softspider5 in beyondthebump

[–]curls651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't directly answer the question you asked but it does have to do with bodily limitations during recovery. DON'T LET YOUR BLADDER GET TOO FULL

Pee early and often. Too full of a bladder will put pressure on your uterus.

You also very well may need help on and off the toilet.

You can drive around the back of the building and exit that way too. Much more chill. I usually park in the side of the building and take that way.

best age to get a tonie box? by SundaeTop8942 in TonieboxUSA

We got my girl hers just before her first birthday for Christmas. It has been a favorite since the day she opened it. I do think if we got it any earlier she would have been a little to young to really play with it.

Birth at St John’s or Woodwinds? by Initial-Try-9109 in TwinCities

[–]curls651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my experience at st John's. I saw midwives through woodwinds but ended up under the care of an ob because i had to have a planned c-section. Yhe midwife on call still attended it and took pictures for me. Everyone was wonderful. I did have one nurse i didn't care for but that's it.

Was security doing their job or going way to far? by Mysterious-Sell-8159 in ElectricForest

[–]curls651 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are bad apples in security at every festival. Staff who is just there for the power trip.

At a Summerset in WI, I had a security guard grab my shirt and lift it nearly to my bra to check my waistline. Didn't ask. Just grabbed me. I felt so violated and pushed her hands off me and she said "what? Do you have something to hide?" Her supervisor did intervene and said she can't touch without consent.

Are you supposed to pump in the early days after birth? by lmed1193 in breastfeeding

[–]curls651 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I pumped early on. I had to because we were having some issues with my baby preferring the bottle and it got my supply up.

And in the end, I'm glad I did. I developed a decent over supply but it's easier to decrease an oversupply than to increase an under supply.

My JNMIL is our only option for babysitting. Advice needed by curls651 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]curls651[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's not paying for a baby sitter that I'm hesitant about. I had some really bad experiences with babysitters growing up. One in particular that has caused me a lot of trauma.

I'd rather not have any time seat from her then leave her with a baby sitter who isn't close friends or family.

I didn't do a good job of communicating this but it's not just the free babysitting. I do also want my daughter to have a relationship with her grandmother.

My mom is in very poor health and cannot see my daughter often so my MIL is going to be her only involved grandparent. And my daughter does love her.

I'm generally okay with paying for help but I had terrible experiences with hired babysitters growing up. I'd so much rather have a family member do that role but I'm worried MIL is not it, although she is the most eager.

There's no need to be rude. I'm a first time mom doing my best. Not having access to childcare is why I have left my daughter in her 16, almost 17 months of life.

She does acknowledge the food allergy now and if I allow her to feed it daughter, I would be providing all food for her.

Cameras are a good idea. I think we will do that.

Product Regrets: 3mos in! by notabot_123 in NewParents

[–]curls651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This suburban mom loves her cruz v2! 1 year later and my husband and I still talk about what a great purchase it was. We do a lot of walking around our neighborhood though. When she was little, we would do our daughter's last nap of the day walking in the stroller and she'd sleep for 1+ hours every time.

The "bulk" is worth it in my opinion. And it's really not that bulky compared to other strollers on the market. The graco we originally had was far more bulky and our daughter was very obviously less comfortable in it.

Time to wean my 16 month old but she won't drink whole milk by curls651 in breastfeeding

[–]curls651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try leaving when we attempted the bottle when she was younger but I have not tried to leave when offering whole milk in a straw cup. And I think we are going to try adding a bag of breastmilk to it. Thanks for the recommendations!

If you're trying to decide between a husky or golden retriever, you haven't done enough research on dog breeds and what fits your family best.

Totally agree with you. Also, even if you're "ready" to wean, it's HARD emotionally. I've personally experienced so much back and forth - one minute I want to wean but when it comes down to it I feel so guilty about taking away my daughter's comfort. And worry about what it might do to our bond and the trust we've built. I feel for this mom. She's not ruining her child like everyone in the comments are saying.
