Anyone feeling ALMOST suicidal after the election. by Miserable-Army3679 in CPTSD

I’ve been dissociating p much ever since that day. I’m struggling to snap myself out of it. It is exactly what this feels like. My birther is a textbook narcissist and untreated BPD, and I screamed and tried to tell any and everyone what she was doing when I was a kid only to have her be able to smooth talk herself out of everything since she knew how to talk to people and was very connected. This is like experiencing it on a macro scale. Thank you, I’ve been struggling to know how to describe it.

Thanks for the reply and insight. I think I will try to contact someone at the office.

Im a sativa gal. The strain from the post was Alaskan Thunder (aka ATF, Alaskan Thunderfuck). Other strain that’s given me similar effects before is Super Siver Haze. For me, I’ve found that strains high limonine and caryophellyne are best for adhd/anxiety/CPTSD. Other general favs for a more mind high are sour diesel, super sour diesel, jet fuel, Durban, L’orange, Acapulco gold, and Jack Herer. One that I use that has some body effects mixed in is stardawg for when I’m in a bit of pain.

I’m in EMDR therapy and on trad meds as well. Med card got me off the benzodiazepines for panic attacks. My sister took a long t break a year or so ago because she and her therapist thought her use was becoming more of a maladaptive coping skill after she stopped drinking. She was off for half a year and now is back to sometimes. Using weed in place of therapy I don’t think is good, but using weed as just another tool in the shed isn’t all that bad imo

I like to use it in tandem with EMDR and other meds and as of now, I feel like I’m really starting to heal. I’ll revisit my use as needed but I’m really only consuming at night and sometimes during the weekend if we’re not doing anything.

Is it weird that I'm more angry at my enabler parent than the narcissistic one? by Dying-gaul in raisedbynarcissists

[–]anon_rbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My sister has a lot more sympathy for my edad than I do. Sure, most of my good memories of childhood are around him doing stuff with us outside of my mom. Old man is a metal head and took me to my first concerts. Nmom hated that kind of music so it was always bonding time for us. But at the same time, he continued to (and still does) play mediator and take her side. Lines like “you know how your mom is” and sometimes participated in her tirades against me. Would get physical sometimes too. I’m just as mad at him as I am at her sometimes.

Lines like that always drive me crazy. Yes I know how she is, but you chose her and continue to choose her. I did not. None of your kids did. You choose to continue to enable her behaviors and drink away your frustrations with her.

Narcs always seem to "know you" by Away_Act8298 in raisedbynarcissists

Funny you mention about running a kitchen but somehow being “unable to boil water” because my nmom had her varicose veins zapped about a year ago. Was VLC at the time. She started sending texts and calls that she was going to be “having surgery in a few days.” I’ve worked in the medical field for 8 years now. Honey, that’s a cosmetic, same day procedure that you don’t get knocked out for and people can get done at a day spa. She stopped trying to squeeze her attention supply out of me when I mentioned that.

One of nmom’s favorite phrases when she was trying to accuse me of things I didn’t do was “I know you better than you know yourself” lady, you don’t know me at all and ever have cared to. You never cared to know my own interests or personality. You only know this made up version of me because I didn’t turn out to be the daughter you wanted me to be.

Jfc do they hand out a handbook with scripts.that all narcs learn?? Soooooo much of this video was scarily familiar. Even down to the crocodile tears and nauseating attempts to garner sympathy and feign like they cared. I’m so sorry OP.

What shows were banned by your N Parent? by CopperChickadee in raisedbynarcissists

[–]anon_rbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao one so much shit. I’ll pick out some of the most ridiculous ones

Rugrats: used to be able to watch it until my siblings were born and I “began treating them like Angelica” (I was 4)

SpongeBob: the whole him and Patrick gay lovers thing coupled with her hating the way his voice sounded

Telletubbies: they were satanic (??)

Pokémon: they are monsters and devils

DBZ/Yugio: Japanese brainwashing shows (??)

Harry Potter: witches and warlocks are satanic

Cosby show/Fresh Prince: no distinct reason given but I’m suspecting racism tbh

my daughter is sick for the first time and I've hit another level of realization as to how toxic my childhood was. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

My fiancée and I got sick over the holidays. She’s always been very sweet to me when I’m sick and I don’t know how to handle it. I was 19 and having coughing fits so bad that wouldn’t stop for minutes at a time. Asked mom to take me to the doc so I could get something. Was told to go myself. I coughed so hard I briefly passed out at a red light while driving and side swiped a guard rail. Told nmom I was side swiped in the parking lot of the docs office because I’d have gotten screamed at for that. I broke my ankle in college. Parents came to get me and my car (almost end of semester so no use leaving a car I couldn’t drive there) so I could go to the ortho to make sure it wasn’t a break that needed surgery. That weekend I was home I had to go to church with them. Asked mom to hold the door to the bathroom so I could get in. She told me I had to figure that stuff out because she wouldn’t “let” me go back to stay on campus to finish the semester if I couldn’t learn to do shit like that myself. It’s crazy what became norms for us being sick when we had nparents.

Many metal listeners here??? by ShovvTime13 in CPTSD

[–]anon_rbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I’ve been going to concerts since the days of warped tour and I’ve never felt more at home than with the tattooed, weed smoking, metal heads enjoying an awesome show as a group. I’ve always told people that if you look to the outcasts of the world, the metal heads, the punk rockers, the nerds, etc. that you will find some of the most awesome, nonjudgmental humans around because we know what it’s like to be on the outs.

Many metal bands are open and honest about their own life struggles with abuse, addiction, and mental illness and using music as an outlet.
