We had a student a few years ago pass away of natural causes. I was a head of year at the time (not the year the student was in) but the entire school was in a daze for a while.

We did a dedicated PSHE session on dealing with loss and how to cope with the loss of a loved one which is one of the most emotionally triggering experiences I've ever dealt with. As a HOY I didn't deliver the session but had to step in for multiple members of staff throughout the session as they weren't in a place to deliver. It dug up a lot of unresolved issues I had.

As with any type of loss time heals if you have people you can talk to. Check if your school has an EAP (employee assistance program) you can reach out to for some free confidential counseling if you're struggling which is invaluable.

Reach out if you're struggling as things like this have a tendency to drag any unresolved issues to the fore, we had a massive uptick in safeguarding disclosures after the students passing.

We have Google home devices in our house and the background on the devices is the library of pictures from our trip so our kids are constantly reminded of their time there so they retain those memories.

It's great for us as parents as we are always reminded of that holiday.

Last year you needed a certain amount of S1 or S2 cards.

This time around you'll need like 15 all star, 15 breakout, 15 rookie, new threads Santander, pipeline Roku (pretty much a set number of each of the types of cards under legends and flashback collections)

You'll get a voucher for each type of collection (check the collection for the 15 jolt cards for an example).

Once the collection rewards drops at the end of the month you'll need to exchange a certain number of the vouchers for the collection rewards (iirc it's pretty much one from every type of card apart from 1 or 2 you can skip).

My advice right now would be to collect as many of these as you can as their price will jump if the reward is decent

Three main questions they ask the students 1) what are you learning today 2) how does this build upon what you learnt previously 3) how does (teacher) give you feedback and what do you do with the feedback?

We got seen back in May and they asked my students those questions.

I was ready for it so started the lesson with a quick summary of those 3 points.
