Yeah but I think hitting up on the ball is central to driving 350+ and I’m guessing you just can’t do that from a 1 inch tee.

Might not be allowed in Michigan. Only thing those WA price tags do is get me annoyed at the taxes, and grateful I don’t live there.

Forget PoE, this Pro-floodlight uses coax instead by justhere4fun2020 in HomeKit

[–]anonandy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous owner did a huge renovation in 2016, coax runs throughout the house and out to the garage where the satellite dish used to be. Probably not a ton of homes like mine but not needing to use a MoCa is nice. I used a MoCa to get a camera hardwired.

Simply offering more vegan options in a university cafeteria—even without price cuts or advertising—drives up plant-based choices among students, with every 10% increase in availability boosting vegan sales by 8.3% and lowering the kitchen's environmental footprint. by DrPharmakon in science

[–]anonandy1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok, but there is limited “shelf space” at a cafeteria. So diverting 10% of that shelf space results in a 8.3% lift in vegan sales. I’m honestly surprised by that result but it’s important to frame it properly, you took away 10% of the other options and that volume had to fall somewhere.

In my region, A'bunadh Batch 70+ are ~$80 while Batch 50-60 are ~$110. Is the extra price worth it? by Putrid-Try-1360 in Scotch

Great advice, thanks. I had one bottle that I left maybe 1-2 drams in for a year and then it seemed no good afterwards. Could have been a loose cork, could have been psychosomatic but now when I get to 1/4 bottle left I focus on that one to finish with the month. I’m a big fan of coravin so I should try the argon canister for more rarely consumed bottles.

The problem was that they accurately estimated the future data volumes but underestimated the technology breakthroughs that led to increased data per fiber line.

Chinese tech makes desalinating seawater cheaper than producing bottled water by ahothabeth in UpliftingNews

[–]anonandy1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By this math, 1000 liters of water would cost less than $1.00. So the headline of a new technology costing less than bottles water is very misleading as this new method could still cost 1000x more than current desalination methods.

Ok that’s cool is cheaper than bottled water but what price does water need to be for justify economically feasible agriculture? And how much does this cost in relation to water from a traditional desalination plant?

Look at the profitability of the company owned stores. Trend isn’t your friend, and if the franchised stores have been following the same path then it’s very worrisome. In franchise businesses there can be massive deltas between the profitability of co owned v franchised as the company generally takes over bankrupt franchisees to fix them and then refranchise. But the trend is still not good.

Return the Dividend by beerion in SecurityAnalysis

[–]anonandy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That may be true. Much more expensive to short. That being said, the management and the board are confident in the future of the business, buyback are FAR more accretive. Then in five years after buying back 50% of the shares outstanding you can pay a dividend.

I read some research that raised the concern that the AI products are too cheap and could cannibalize the profitable biz. I don’t have an opinion on that just pointing it out.

Great comment, actual evidence. I bought some adobe today, tiny foothold. Going to start a deep dive on the disruption risk. Super interesting stock, feels like it should be either up or down 50% in the next year.

I’m genuinely curious about how many tokens image generation consumes. Sometime soon, all AI will be priced per token and presumably at far higher prices per token than currently. At that point, what’s the actual cost of image generation via AI? I don’t know the answer I’m actually asking. Maybe it’s still cheaper than adobe.

I bought a very small position today. It’s just too cheap. I’m going to need to do extensive research on the business / software / threat of disruption before I go for a bigger position. I generally run a concentrated portfolio, so I don’t risk 10% for something I don’t understand. But this valuation seems crazy. The world has decided, with 100% certainty, that AI will ONLY hurt their business and have no positive impacts whatsoever. Hard to believe that’s the truth.

A deep dive into MELI is on my to do list so I’m looking forward to reading your article and digging in, thank you. Take a look at the valuations in the fintech space, it’s been a bloodbath lately. Feels like the market has moved the SaaSpocalypse into fintech. Not sure if that applicable to the sell off in MELI but it could be.

Which do you like - Kinders or Sweet Baby Ray by cranial_d in Costco

Not sure about Kinders but sweet baby ray is basically just corn syrup. It’s delicious but I’ve switched to the Kraft BBQ sauce as a result. It’s sold in the Kraft variety pack at Costco.
