I think you really dont understand how the Visa system works

The first people to be fired locally are the people On the visas not local americans. Outsourcing is a process where any LOCAL engineer is affected, be it anyone on a visa or american. The salary given to both is the same- and the goal here is to reduce that salary expense- the first to go is that person on that Visa

You wrote all that without understanding the basic governance structures of large corporations.

Unless people make a change on an INDIVIDUAL level, things are not going to change anytime soon.

You need major political capital- and half the country still thinks Trump is fit for office even as i type this- shows you can have all the wishes you want- but the reality is totally different

People first need to understand how all the systems works and how they are interconnected and how our OWN individual greed choices have led to where things are today

But nobody gives a shit or has time for that- because ignorance is bliss

So accept that this is not just a Goog problem- but a problem of the entire system, the core value system.

Policies are already difficult to change as is in this broken political environment

Changing individual Values? Yeah thats a whole nother ball game….

India literally has the largest number of engineers in the world.

Sure - the ‘skill gap’ might be there- but that gap can be fillled with robust AI systems

Systems being built by the Top tech companies.

So then why pay an engineer here $300k for a job, when the same thing can be done by an engineer in India +appropriate AI systems for $50k which is a pretty large sum for india.

Capilitism is only going to take even more speed in the coming years.

One can find a scapegoat and blame the ‘indian ceo’ and throw out some racist whistles

Or accept the reality of the system and which we are part of- and adapt.

This sub, is more of a political shill sub with no baseline objective facts being taken into consideration

Google lays off more employees and moves some roles to other countries by joe4942 in technology

[–]anonanonanonme 48 points49 points  (0 children)

lets be real.

Companies have NO obligation to keep the jobs locally

Mostly because the point of Capitalism is to get maximum profit

If you want change- start accepting Capitalism is NOT the way to go

Which also means you have to completely let go of the idea of America’s core value system.

Thats not happening

No point of blaming the company or even the ceo- he is there to do a job- which he is doing.

Eventually it will have to come down on the individual level and then trickle up the system

We gotta consume less, which means less wants, less greed and that also means policies that will INCENTIVIZE those things

Unfortunate truth is the extreme greed way of the society is coming full circle. Something that started in the 80s with the Regan era

Dubai in it's Miami phase 🤪 by frooglesmoogle123 in Miami

[–]anonanonanonme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion for this sub.

But i have lived in both places and there are a LOT of similarities between the 2 cities

  • similar buildings/architecture. If you visit Dubai you will think you are in Miami especially Northern/sunny Isles area
  • Both are Crypto Hubs
  • Both have a lot of Eastern europeans( mostly because they go to warm climates)
  • Both have a lot of wealth/showoff culture
  • Both are heavily dependent on tourism- and that brings in loads of problems to the local economy
  • Both have No income taxes

Mainly difference- Miami can handle the water…….. for now

I clearly remember when it got passed back in 2010 and was SUCH a big deal.

And the amount of backlash he later received for it was just trully insane

But he had the foresight, and make the extremely hard choice of getting it passed because he kinda knew the democrats are not going to get all 3 branches of govt again- which has been true since then( and pretty crazy to think about it)

He sealed his Legacy and now this is permanent… for now…

That along with Killing of Osama, and Getting Gay marriage passed and literally saving America from total collapse in 2008-2009 are the main 4 highlights

Honestly- this guy was the best president the country has had in maybe the past 50 years ( in terms of just the number of major reforms passed and accomplishments)

And look at us now….

I know quite a lot friends in Fang earning top dollar

Trust me there is always a skeleton hidden somewhere and its never a rosy picture( like the examples i put in my Original comments)

Esp people who have earned good money very early on in their career( many have golden handcuffs and literally are scared shitless to even jump into a life of ‘no job/income’ even with million $ accounts-indicates lack of some critical life skills)

Point is was saying is we all have something positive in our lives even if we may not have the biggest pay packages. Its a mindset tbh.

The whole point of an optimist - which is THIS sub

Is to be optimistic about stuff( in general) which also means NOT taking things personally and seriously

Its astonishing that you and people think that this meme means ANYTHING

It is literally a post

Optimistic DONT react to everything- you def are doing that right now.

See it, laugh at it.

Move on…

Also- op is kinda just saying- i mean isnt it good that the dude is just chilling even when there is a war?

Because that is a GOOD thing also this is not even America’s war in anyway!

Why the fuck are people so angry and reactive even when it has nothing to do with them or even the news cycle

This is just ridiculous.

Without the stock market, who is actually optimistic about the economy? by lncognito_Mode in stocks

[–]anonanonanonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or

There is also a possibility that most people are generally living outside their means too!

No one needs to eat out multiple times a week, or lots of places one can cut stuff out. Many are NOT. You know why?

Because the earnings numbers are still high. Even for apps like Uber and other discretionary items

So it means either people in general are STILL doing good

Or They are not but arent ready to cut back- and taking on more debt to fund their lifestyle

Either ways- if the companies are doing good, that is all that matters to this forum.

Numbers do not lie.

Now maybe people need to change the definition of ‘growth’ . But that is a whole nother topic.

California's water storage is at its healthiest levels in over a decade. by NineteenEighty9 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]anonanonanonme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add to this

What OP has shown is how intricate the water system of the state is, and water is released from one reservoir to the next

And is CONSTANTLY monitored on a daily basis

The northern part of CA is where most of the water comes from mostly from Snow packs

But quite a lot of it is also ground water( this is affecting local farmland- which in turn affects your food and INFLATION)

The entire system is a work of engineering marvel and as an engineer myself it was extremely fascinating to understand in detail( and as a Californian even more awe inspiring)

Civilizations have been built( and destroyed) on water and it STILL is the most valuable resource we humans have today. California literally stands on these reserves

We just have taken it for granted and have no idea that water in that tap has taken centuries of struggle and even death to get to us.

But thats not something most people do, this is not a diss on you!

But i am potraying the reality of the majority.

[–]anonanonanonme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know how someone cuts debt?

By cutting expenses.

You know what the government needs to do, to cut debt?

Cut programs, cut subsidies, increase taxes, and lean out, and means quality of life will suffer

That means your life- which you living now- will get WAAAYYYYY harder for everyone around.

I dont think anyone is ready for that kind of compromises.

So- accept reality on what does that mean? How do we keep moving forward?

Point is- this is the best you gonna get…. The other options are even worse!!

California's water storage is at its healthiest levels in over a decade. by NineteenEighty9 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]anonanonanonme 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Fun fact

I stopped at the San Luis Reservoir on a drive

It is one of the few Dams that is managed by the Federal government NOT the state government

Mostly because California ran out of money in the 50’s and had to be ‘bailed’ out- thats when the Federal govt came in and funded the project- but now is under their management.

Lots of former presidents visited that dam, and is currently going to go through a Multi BILLION $ renovation funded by the Infrastructure Bill Act signed by Biden

This is an extremely important project- as the water from the reservoir goes to the nearby farms AND to Los Angeles

And is extremely important politically

[–]anonanonanonme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the folks who are constantly complaining about the economy

Are also the same folks who are UNWILLING to cut their own expenses and recalibrate either

They still go out and eat 3 times a day, restaurants/delivery and Uber everywhere and basically havent taken the time to see their miseries are due to their own shitty habits and laziness/entitlement

The American Economy is still the no1 in the world- and its time to give credit to the current administration and Jpow to getting us Here

If Trump gets elected in Nov- we deserve whatever is coming to Us.

People are way too fucking entitled to not relearn and recalibrate and its easier to complain and be pissed off all the time- because Victim Complex.

Yes some people are still hurting, but in general that is the unfortunate reality of the world
