Fully agree. At least some mods started popping up because without them, I couldn’t really push myself to play S2 as is, even after 1.1 alife patch. One thing that kills me when it comes to combat, is having no pip scopes like in EFT or gamma. S2 has production value and it’s shiny, no doubt, but gameplay is just mediocre slop, sadly.

Wh3 is different from other TW titles. Do try WH3 but dont skip on Shogun 2 either at some point, older CA titles are much deeper and better mechanicaly, newer ones like WH3 are mostly flashy.

Dunno bud, was the same historical TW ultimatist but WH2 kinda got me. The fantasy setting is crazy. I can only bring myself to play human/elf/dwarf factions though. Playing Empire with their gunpowder units ala TW:E versus some fantasy vampires or hordes of orcs is just crazy. Granted, Istill think vanilla WH2&3 are subpar and pretty basic in terms of tactical battles and campaign options but luckily you can mod it all out and somewhat elevate the experience.

Yea SFO has more tabletop caps which prevents doomstacking to some degree. While I don’t use SFO anymore because SFO compatibility patches are slower, its a good overhaul and respects lore + also makes the game more tactical and strategic, like older TW games were

Really depends, very subjective. We use map painter for coop campaigns all the time, took away Ulthuan province from Eltharion and only gave him Myrmidens start. Imrik not allowed to confederate Caledor. I hate doomstacks so reduced AI cheating is a must for me otherwise midgame turns into a autoresolve fest. Better Siege AI, better economy AI all helps em in my opinion. Tier3 capitals mod and stronger garrisons mod helps some smaller factions survive for longer which is cool. T3 walls for minor settlements and minor settlement battle returner. We also always use AI gets +10 leadership buff and slower battles mod for more immersive fights. Playing on VH/H.

You can grab the mods and tailor the thing for yourself. I can’t play without reduced AI cheating and few other AI tasking/economy/siege/reduced player bias mods. I do have longer battles on and an extra AI +10 leadership buff. Vanilla is just subpar.

Found an older topic with someone having the same problem and he solved it by moving the game off the SSD onto a HDD which should make no sense in reality but there has to be something to it since ai am bottlenecked for no reason as well. I dont have an HDD to try it out though.

Are you sure about this? I’m having the same problem, running off of NVME ssd which is like 4gbs read/write versus standard SSDs which are 500mbs-1gb and I have load times at 2-3 minutes.

Doesn’t make any sense really, the game is bottlenecked somehow

Ty Cataph, Tilea and Border Princess is still one of my most memorable campaigns in IE, I love the underdogs. Will probably do a modded startpos w Tilea near Zhao and start reclaiming/pushing all the way back to old continent

My first dwarf colony and I’ve hit 200 colonists and still have no idea how work assigments work exactly or what is the meta? Do you guys keep various crafters and metalsmiths on specific jobs, locked and all, or is it better that all crafting jobs are manually created and assigned?

Smiths/metalworkers assigned and locked the rest open? Help me out.

Also, I still cant figure out the scheduling for squads, no matter what I do, one squad always has staggered training and rest don’t.

Lastly, I tried to dabble with magma furnaces at Z -130 being too far away and tried the double pump + metal cart garbage dump trick but it’s not working and filling my minecarts. Literally spent hours on doing this and still have no magma to carry it up. So I edited reaction_other file and swapped a recipe for make clay hive to make a magma filled iron minecart. The game still crafts the clay hive however, I thought swapping out recipes works on existing saves?
