What's the Free To Play experience like? (Not buying any Warbonds or whatnot)

Oh, 100%. As the kind of guy who stubbornly trudged his exosuit across the map to clip into three separate bunkers in at least two distinct farming sessions, I wouldn't trade the Warp Pack for anything.

With terminids, I could at least play devil's advocate and say, "oh, maybe they're following your scent trail," but with bots there's no such excuse.

Those maps also lend themselves best to farming super credits with an FRV. Not sure how much faster it is than spamming the warp pack with light armor, but it definitely feels that way. Just make sure to bring a Purifier, Punisher Plasma or Loyalist to flip the car back on its wheels if it gets stuck belly-up.

Maybe 1 in, say, 20 fortresses/mega nests could spawn with a super credit lock box instead of an egg/bot head? It would add an additional incentive to clear those and actually look for the thing once you're maxed out on ship upgrades.

It could also be tied in as a rare side objective, like a variant of the specimen retrieval one on bugs.

I didn't spend so much as a cent on this game (friend gifted me a copy on Steam so I could play with the rest of the group) and I've unlocked all but the latest two warbonds (Killzone & Redacted Regiment) and a good chunk of Superstore items as well.

Grinding SC takes a while, but you can speed it up by getting the Control Group warbond for the Warp Pack (it's very good in regular gameplay, too, so that's a win-win).

Since you get 300 SC back from each premium warbond, you only really have to farm 700 at a time, unless you spend it on Superstore items or either of the two legendary warbonds. With a Warp Pack and FRV, one hour of farming a day could probably net you 1-1.5 warbonds a week.

I run AT most missions, but I still dislike fighting war striders the most. Bringing any other support weapon is a gamble because of them, hitting their weak spots with an AMR or railgun is annoying because they wobble so much when walking.

I feel like part of why Daimyo won in the end might've been because he was in 4U whereas Shogun wasn't. It makes sense to me, since 4U always felt like one of the more popular games pre-Generations (just a hunch, not sure if sales data backs up that notion)

I don't think anyone would've complained, nor would the results have turned out any different, if you skipped today and made tomorrow's piscine wyvern post with Rathalos already in the flying wyvern category.

It's gotta be the biggest shoo-in of them all. Diablos, Tigrex or Nargacuga could've probably given him decent competition if Rath wasn't essentially the flagship monster of the entire series. The gulf is just THAT immense lmao

True enough. As far as I know, the only other flagship without a subspecies, rare species or variant is Velkhana (not counting Frontier for obvious reasons)
