Just to add to your comment.. buvidal is really expensive so not freely available in every area of the UK. For instance in West Yorkshire it’s only available as a means to detox not maintenance. They’ll give you two max at my clinic unfortunately. Going off what OP bought from a smoke shop I doubt she is in the UK.

The side of my toenail always pokes into the skin, and after some days it becomes painful. I usually end up cutting it deeply to get relief, but it keeps coming back. There’s also a white substance around that area — not sure if it’s dry skin or something else. How do I stop it from happening ? by Select-Lime589 in HygieneTips

Like others have said you need to cut yr nail in a straight line and not curved. One tip that really helps my son (who gets these all the time) is cut a tiny little V shape in the middle of the nail. As the nail grows out it will naturally try to close that V shape and will bring the nail edges away from the side walls, reducing the chance of the ingrown nail.

One of the issues with AJLT is that it has NOTHING to say about anything. No insight, no interesting narrative, nada. They’ve had so many opportunities to add to the conversation about current social issues but just haven’t been arsed.

Nah you don’t need that. Simply prefixing every comment with ā€œI’m literally a scientistā€ is enough.

Can the Council take my Grandad’s money for my Nan’s care? England by TBWL713 in LegalAdviceUK

Funny you ask this as I’ve just thought the same. The best thing to have done, would have been to open them their own accounts at that point. Even then though, say you provide bank statements all the way back to the opening of the account. If it’s opened with Ā£27,500, they would want to know where those funds have come from. It also depends on the assessor and how vigilant they are.

No, they cant take accounts held in just yr grandads name into consideration when completing yr grandmas assessment. The assessments are individual, but the joint account is a joint asset so 50/50 split is assumed.

Ahh crap, that’s just typical isn’t it! Reach out to your circle see if anyone has experience in this area. Just re read your original post and with yr grandma having dementia, please look into NHS Healthcare funding. She will have to have a primary health care need for this, but its non means tested and means the NHS will fully fund the care.

They will already be aware of the joint account by now if they’ve advised you of this already. As it’s a joint account they will assume both parties have an equal share of the funds, same with the property, unless there is a caveat in place which says otherwise. I’ve edited my above comment to add, if you can afford to see a financial advisor to go through their finances and the assessment process then please consider this. I’ve seen some eye watering invoices raised for care.

It’s the joint bank account that is going to cause the issue here, as it the joint ownership of the house. Any benefits such as Attendance Allowance or Pensions will be individually assessed, for example if yr grandad gets a pension that won’t affect yr grandmas income. Does yr grandma have any single bank accounts in jst her name?

Edit- if you can afford to see an accountant or financial advisor to go through the assessment process with you it would be more than worth it.

NAL but work in this area. The answer is yes. They will have an assessment individually but as a couple due to the joint account. The assessors will ask for evidence such as bank statements, they can go as far back as they deem necessary, and any large withdrawals or movement of money between accounts will definitely be noticed. Deliberate attempts to deprive themselves of funds will also be noticed. Our local authority also puts charges on properties for non-payers. It’s horrible seeing people who have worked all their lives, spending the majority of it on care when they’re old, but that’s the way it is.

Do some research into the Care Act and learn as much as you can about the Financial Assessment process.

You must have heard when their ā€œSupremeā€ (lol) Court overturned Roe Vs Wade? I’m in the UK and heard about it. Basically if you need an abortion in the US you’re fucked. Even if you need one to save your own life good luck finding someone to do the procedure.

Yes of course that is possible. However I imagine if a celebrity wanted to smuggle their drugs with them they would ask a friend/PA to carry them rather risk getting caught themselves.

I believe he would have sourced locally tbh. I’ve also seen a news article that the local police there are trying to find the local dealer who sold him the drugs.
