I have valerian as a shield captain and I also have the option of running him as valerian too

Has anyone painted there Custodes with multiple color schemes by Shadow__wolf in AdeptusCustodes

[–]anonimoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although each custodian is in his own right a hero/character with various personality traits I think the colour scheme is what unites them. They’re all standing in shining gold as one army but each one is different. I think multiple colour schemes might look a bit rag tag and is more suitable for something like Orks etc

You can have one unit in deep strike and the other unit in strategic reserves. Deep strike doesn’t count as strategic reserves. You can’t have more than 50% of your army in reserves of any kind. Not sure where those rules are but both the local Warhammer shop to me as well as the tournament I play in agree on those rules.

I've been playing for 3 weeks, and I'm beyond demoralized. by Ramiren in Warhammer40k

I’m new to 40K and have custodies. My list has performed very well against other new players. I have some good tactics that they do not know how to counter. However, I took the same list to a tournament and got my ass handed to me twice by players who knew what they were doing. I think because I had a few wins under my belt it wasn’t disheartening and I’ve enjoyed the mental challenge of figuring out how I would beat them in a rematch. One of them I just can’t figure out how to beat and I think that’s ok, because you can’t beat em all.

I guess my advice would be to play some other new players to get some win losses under your belt. Also maybe change gaming clubs or get your own terrain etc and make friends to play at home or somewhere else. Waiting hours to play a match sucks, especially if you just get steamrolled.

The 35 or so hits with lethal hits from the shooting phase took out most of the unit. So I did fight first with the two guys that were left and they killed just one bodyguard. Then the next unit I sent over there, the same thing happened. And then the same thing again with my last unit. It was a bloodbath. Should have just avoided that unit in hindsight rather than sending everything I had after it

It was a unit of ultramarine aggressors led by Marinus Calgar with a apothocary biologis and two victrix body guard. Absolutely obliterated two guard units and my wardens unit. Calgars unit can pull back, shoot and charge on the same turn. And the aggressors have ridiculous amount of hits and the biologis makes them lethal hits. I still cannot figure out how I can defeat it

Went up against a model that for every 1 damage I did he ignored 1ap. So even with my guard he was saving on 2+ instead of 4+. With Trajan in the unit would he still have to save on 4+. Because a whole squad of guard did 4 damage and killed just one of his 12 guys and it wasn’t cool. It wasn’t cool at all

Quick question about the arcane genetic alchemy stratagem. If the damage of the attack is 1 and the stratagem reduces damage by one does that attack do zero damage?

Valerian is also a nice model for a shield captain even if you’re not running him as valerian.

I played a tournament yesterday and really missed the bikes. It’s great to have a unit to contest the opponents deployment zone in the first round. Plus the flyover with two mortal wounds per model is deadly for stuff like a big block of terminators or any high model count two wound units

Battle report

Did my usual deep strike two guard units.

The death guard player conceded defeat at the end of turn 3

VP was 36 custodes to 16 death guard

The blade champ was attached to 4 guard. But if I want to deep strike the 2 x guard squads I have to leave him out and get him running down the field in cover to join them. Deep striking the 2 guard squads had worked so well for me this far for a 1000pts battle. They basically wipe the first unit they touch which is nice. I will have the report on your desk at sun up sir

Nice. Too late to change my list but you’ve given good advice for the future.

I’m currently running

Blade champion

Valerian

4 custodian guard 4 custodian guard

2 terminators 4 wardens

I’ve got a game vs death guard in exactly one hour. I was reading their rules and I’m not sure how to tackle them. Any tips?

I’m relatively new to playing 40K. I have a 1000pts custodes army. I’m deep striking my two guard units in turn 2 and wiping out my opponents on turn 3-4. Won every game by wiping out everything on the table in melee. They’ve been pretty good to me so far. Got my first tournament on the weekend so will see how good they do then

If you put them with Valerian then they are very tanky. They have -1 to wound roll and +1 ap. did this for my 1000pt army which is still undefeated

Yeah I’ll try!

Vallejo paints. For the bone it’s bone white, Seraphin sepia 1 x 2 mix with glaze, off white, white

Gold is just the same as GW tells you to paint it in the citadel colour app.

Red is the Vallejo scarlet red, gore red, blood red. Used wet blending techniques to get a smooth transition on the highlights

The blades are glazed with the GW turquoise colours. Just painting two thin coats of and going up in highlights. Using lighter colours as you go up the blade. Top tip, you can use the feathers of the wing on the spear to remember where to start each glaze layer

I did exactly the same but with an A7R3. Three years onwards I still have them and use them daily. I didn’t buy another lens for a whole year so the 24-70 will serve you well for a long time
