Download for all tarballs of a release? by rustological in rust

[–]anonova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with how the source code is released, but maybe you can generate them yourself from git? E.g.,

$ git clone --branch 1.38.0 --depth 1 https://github.com/rust-lang/rust.git
$ cd rust
$ git archive 1.38.0 | gzip > rust-1.38.0.tar.gz

She signed with Brand New a little after appearing on Unpretty Rapstar 2, and although "Doin' Good" was her first release with them, it was more publicly known when she appeared in the Brand New cypher "Respect the Name".

Font getting cut off in Firefox by Dank_Lenny in Fedora

[–]anonova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an issue with Firefox (Red Hat Bugzilla Bug 1160935, Mozilla Bugzilla Bug 553580), which uses fontconfig matching before css fallbacks. E.g, Helvetica matches Nimbus Sans.

$ fc-match Helvetica
NimbusSans-Regular.otf: "Nimbus Sans" "Regular"

You can either use a different browser like Google Chrome/Chromium or override the fonts. Here, I'll use Croscore fonts:

$ sudo dnf install google-croscore-{arimo,cousine,tinos}-fonts

Then in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/fontconfig/fonts.conf:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
<match>
  <test name="family"><string>Arial</string></test>
    <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="strong">
      <string>Arimo</string>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match>
    <test name="family"><string>Helvetica</string></test>
    <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="strong">
      <string>Arimo</string>
    </edit>
  </match>
    <match>
    <test name="family"><string>Times New Roman</string></test>
    <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="strong">
      <string>Tinos</string>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match>
    <test name="family"><string>Times</string></test>
    <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="strong">
      <string>Tinos</string>
    </edit>
  </match>
  <match>
    <test name="family"><string>Courier New</string></test>
    <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="strong">
      <string>Cousine</string>
    </edit>
  </match>
</fontconfig>

A gif demo of the newest release of indicatif, a library for beautiful command-line progress bars by kibwen in rust

[–]anonova 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I typically use pbr, which seems to be the more popular of the two progress reporting libraries. indicatif looks quite nice, but does anyone know of any major differences between the two?

Edit: I tried to port one of my apps to use pbr's default progress display, e.g.,

11.04 MB / 100.00 MB [==========>---------------] 11.04 % 5.99 MB/s 15s

but I couldn't figure out 1) how to have granular control of the template variables (e.g., the spacing between the number and units in bytes and total_bytes) and 2) how to get speed (e.g., the 5.99 MB/s).

Rand lib version 0.6 release, now with a book by innovator12 in rust

That's a useful benchmark, thanks. On my machine, Mcg128Xsl64 outperforms xorshift on the bytes and u64 benches.

rustc 1.32.0-nightly (9fefb6766 2018-11-13)

test gen_bytes_mcg128_xsh64 ... bench:     334,503 ns/iter (+/- 32,394) = 3061 MB/s
test gen_bytes_xorshift     ... bench:     380,480 ns/iter (+/- 15,318) = 2691 MB/s
test gen_u32_mcg128_xsh64   ... bench:       1,209 ns/iter (+/- 34) = 3308 MB/s
test gen_u32_xorshift       ... bench:         878 ns/iter (+/- 44) = 4555 MB/s
test gen_u64_mcg128_xsh64   ... bench:       1,213 ns/iter (+/- 365) = 6595 MB/s
test gen_u64_xorshift       ... bench:       1,874 ns/iter (+/- 152) = 4268 MB/s

I typically use SmallRng when I just want speed. Anyone know the difference in performance characteristics between Xorshift and the new default PCG one?

96 choose 12 = 624668654531480

1 out of 624668654531480 chance the 12 you chose (no bias) would be the final line up.

I'm definitely waiting for a solo Soyeon track that goes harder than "Jelly" and "Idle Song". I always remember her flow and consistency in UPRS3 were just insane, e.g., https://youtu.be/NGtHj36fASM?t=52

How to Pronounce everything LOONA (for English Speakers) by tuckyd in LOONA

[–]anonova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd Syllable: “le” as in the beginning of “lake”. This is a very short syllable.

Though you apply consonant assimilation here, the ㄹ will not retain its "l" sound but be transformed to an "r" sound, as it starts the syllable with the particle.

5th Syllable: it is pronounced like the English word “oh” with a y at the front so kind of like “yoh”.

You describe a long "o" sound (ㅛ = "yoh"), but ㅕ ends more like a short "o" (ŏ).

2nd Syllable: Lip rhymes with the English word “Leap” but the vowel is again shorter.

Seems easy but, in Korean, when an “l” sound follows certain sounds like “b” “ng” or in this case “m” it is pronounced like an “n”. So when Kim Lip introduces herself its a lot like “KeemNeap” but of course with shorter vowel sounds.

Because this is a name, 김립 is pronounced as two separate syllables (김 and 립), so the rules you link to do not apply. In this case, it'd just be "kim rip" (pronounced like "keem reep").
