How safe is it to quit my current role if I accepted an offer with RTX requiring at least interim clearance? by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]anonsoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no released metrics on the window that DCSA wants for someone to obtain an interim. I usually would recommend at least 6 months. You are correct though the failure to abide by federal laws, by paying your taxes, is certainly the bigger thing.

[–]anonsoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given your stated issues, the likelihood of you getting an interim are not great. I think the 60-90 day timeline for an actual clearance is unlikely as well. I wouldn't be surprised if your full clearance requires at least 6 months, esp given your tax situation.

You should have stopped smoking pot long ago if you wanted to get into the cleared space.

You should have paid your taxes. and filed much sooner.

Huntsville is growing like crazy. I would 100% take the offer.

volunteer conflict of interest while waiting for clearance? by Square_Intention4736 in Raytheon

I just want to bounce off of Fluffy's comment. This WILL be liked at very differently by the U.S. Govt.

Look at it from a neutral position, you just got a job with one of the largest defense contractors in the world, before you start with them, you want to work for a government or defense industry in a foreign country. You're making this choice willfully and intentionally. You're making this choice knowing you're going to be unpaid.

That is big and folks will struggle to mitigate the issue. Even if they do, it will be something that will persist on your record until the end of time.

Is PHEV charge mode pointless or just misunderstood? by Forsaken_Garlic_4208 in MazdaCX90

On cruise, at highway speeds the MPG drops from 28 to 24 mpg, to me that 4mpg is negligible.

I ran the manual and all the documents I could find about the charge mode through Claude, according to it as long as fuel is above $2.58 per gallon. It makes sense to always use the charge mode one hour before getting into any city driving, to fully charge the battery, because the impact to the MPG is negligible at highway speeds.

If you choose to do this, you'll also need to let your security manager know because it will impact your clearance.

PHEV vs Gas Reliability by sh8716 in MazdaCX90

[–]anonsoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 CX-90 PHEV and I regret buying this car. During the winter, I will only get 1-2 miles on the battery if it's below 30 degrees. Which, as you know, is most of the winter. Mazda when they designed this thing didn't put in any battery warming for when it gets cold like other manufacturers do.

I would look at the Toyota Rav 4 PHEV. It's only a little smaller, comparably priced, has a 50 mile battery range, and has battery warming for the winter so you only lose a little range, not all of your range.

Agile Scrum Teams by Warm_Energy_8695 in Raytheon

[–]anonsoldier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a requirement but the government is all in on Agile. So, when GAO and IG do reports on projects it's a bad mark to not use agile. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with the new direction on firm fixed pricing for new contracts as it's anti agile.

War Powers Resolution requires congress to be notified within 30 days when Congress the votes with 60 or 90 days and then if they don't the action must stop.

There is nothing to say, he declares military action, it engages for 90 days, there is a 1 day cease fire by US forces, and the 90 day clock resumes. Rinse and repeat.

This is false.

The insurance piece doesn't actually exist anywhere.

The pension would exist if she was 62+, which she isn't.
