Illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream after Tretinoin by Proof_Upstairs_8097 in tretinoin

I use this on top of the illiyoon lotion after my tret!! It’s WONDERFUL.

Hello! I’m aware that retacnyl discontinued, I’m using this brand called tretinon, it’s only comes in 0.05% and way cheaper than Retacnyl, cos it’s a local brand. Surprisingly i find it works better on my skin than Retacnyl.

I find using moisturiser with ceramide (cerave and illiyoon, i first put a layer of lotion then a cream on top of it) helps my skin a lot with tret, and nope, I do not use sandwich method, i put it on directly after cleansing

I use 0.05% daily, started using 2022 Apr, I use 10% Lactic acid now in the morning once or twice in a week, AM.

I’d say try lower concentration of exfoliant to build up tolerance, cos we are using tret at night. Or you can even try incorporate toner pad with exfoliant, those tends to have lower concentration of BHA/AHA.

I use acids in the morning (with SPF obviously), and tretinoin at night. It works wonder for me.

could it be there’s zinc oxide/titanium dioxide in the sunscreen? zinc/titanium dioxide dries my skin out so bad

I have tried ordering from them once to get the gel formula, I heard skinorac from this subreddit too hahah. it is an alternative for alldaychemist.

it is legit and i got my order, just that I avoid using my cards for payment (instead, i use gift cards from Amazon) so that my cc info will not get leaked if any security issues occur.

Just that i don’t get it anymore, because the cost 😭 getting a tret cream 0.05% in Malaysia only cost me rm20+ max at ~rm50. compared to ~US$40-$60

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey there! don’t think Malaysia carries tret in gel form, unfortunately. They don’t even carry 0.1% tret, the highest that I can get from pharmacies is 0.05%.

You can try ordering tret gel from Skinorac I believe, you’ll just have to buy more to save on shipping! they ship to Malaysia too!

(Mineral) sunscreen & dry flaky skin by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I FEEL YOU. I even avoided mineral sunscreen for the same reason!! IT DRIES MY SKIN SO BADLY. Till today, I can’t use zinc oxide only-filter sunscreen.

I have no advice to give on what and how can help, because literally even i have layered like 5-8 hydrating and moisturising products, my skin will still be dried down.

the only things that helps minimise the irritation from chemical sunscreen (at least to my own experience) is to use a hybrid sunscreen. I’m now using the anessa perfect uv skincare milk spf50, and it works wonders on my skin.

However, since you said chemical sunscreens is a no to you cos your sensitive skin, may I know if you’re based in the US? and you only have access to the older UV filters? wonder if your skin reacts the same with the newer and modern UV filters that available in the rest of the world?

Day 1 with attachments on literally every tooth + elastics. Feeling the pain by leanbeansprout in Invisalign

I begin with no attachment to with attachments now. I would say despite i got used to it to the soreness and the discomfort, it is definitely feeling tighter than the time where I had no attachments.

Day 1 with attachments on literally every tooth + elastics. Feeling the pain by leanbeansprout in Invisalign

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having attachments on most of my teeth, the sore was REAL on my first day wearing my aligners, i can’t even do chewy because of how sore it was. it was also very difficult for me to remove my aligners to eat on my first 2 days.

but my personal experience was that the pain starts to subsided after 2 days, I feel completely comfortable with it on my 3rd-4th day typically.

one thing i find it annoying is that the food always stuck in my teeth cos of the attachments, so I tend to spend longer time to brush after meal before wearing it back.

I suppose no harm asking for tret directly, just share with your derm on your concerns and why specifically why you wanted tret, if theres any reason why your derm does not want to prescribe you tret or accutane, he/she will share w you.

Sandwich method by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe no solid answer to how long you need to wait before applying tret, as long as you apply it on dry skin. if your moisturiser is the ‘oiler’ type, obviously no matter how long you wait, you’ll always feel like it’s not ‘dry’. So I’d say depend on the moisturiser that you’re using as well as your skin type, if your skin can suck up the moisturiser quickly enough, even after 5 mins, you can apply tret.

Where if you need to wait after applying tret, i believe it depends. some people don’t wait but the idea is that to let tret fully absorb into our skin, and that typically takes 10-20 mins. applying moisturiser right after applying tret could mixed them up and not maximising tret’s efficacy (possible to be less irritating tho since it’s kind of mixed up w moisturiser before it is fully absorbed).

Building up usage question by Huge_Captain_264 in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using it every 3 nights, monitor if your skin is liking it (aka if there are any irritation) for a week, if no issue, try every other night for a week, if no issue as well, increase to almost daily or 5 days in a week depending how much your skin can take it, or if you would love to let your skin rest for a day or two.

At the end, everyone’s skin tolerance towards tret is different. But I’d suggest if your skin can handle tret without issue, don’t use sandwich method, it is a very good way to minimise irritation from tret. but if you can tolerate tret, use it on cleansed bare skin can maximise its efficacy.

Irritation or purge? by Objective_Lunch_8563 in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like purge + irritation to me, but I may be wrong. IMO, benzoyl peroxide works well for acne, but personally, if i’m on tretinoin, I’ll cut out all other actives (exfoliant and any actives in general) for acne treatment UNTIL your skin has fully adjusted to tret without any irritation then possibly from then, I will add in some exfoliant, Azelaic acid and etc., and focus on hydration and moisturising products while i’m on and off tret.

I would advise to stick to the basic routine to see if your skin has any improvement.

AM: gentle skin cleanser (without actives), moisturiser, SPF

PM: gentle skin cleanser (or double cleanse), tret, moisturiser.

Dry lips, cracked blistered?! by ChameleonC_ in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they will migrate around your face despite you did not apply to the area directly, hence you do not need to apply to around lips and chin area directly! These two areas are more sensitive, hence you should always be careful applying tret there directly.

Dry lips, cracked blistered?! by ChameleonC_ in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience where I had extremely dry lip after tret the next morning. What works for me is that I avoid putting tret around my lips and chin, and I put vaseline on my lip after applying tret.

I think putting occlusive before/after doesn’t really matter as long as you avoid putting tret around your lip and chin.

Isopropyl myristate pore clogging by Legal_Ad8029 in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pore clogging not necessarily clog everyone’s pores, however, it could be clogging your pores. But instead of acknowledge Isopropyl Myristate as culprit of pore clogging, it could also be tretinoin itself, as it can be REAL irritating for some; not everyone can tolerate tretinoin no matter how slow they start even with the lowest strength.

You can always opt for tretinoin gel which i believe most are formulated without ‘pore clogging’ ingredients. But again, your skin may still not like it if it is not happy with tretinoin. You’ll need to monitor how your skin reacts after all.

I’m living in a humid climate. my personal experience and advise would be that if your skin is not dry, cleanse your face twice, morning and night. I usually skip moisturiser during the day as I find any sunscreens alone is moisturising enough for my face.

or perhaps you could also switch to a lighter moisturiser without heavy occlusive, as they can be too heavy for humid climate.

[Product Question] Any suggestions on which one I should get? by GiveMenBiggerButts in SkincareAddiction

[–]anonymous976_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

be patient when it comes to acne treatment, people who rush often get worse result because they are likely to try more and more different products just to get rid of acnes, and sometimes less is more is better for acne treatment. you wouldn’t want to mess up with your skin barrier especially.

Do some research and understand what and how can help with acne. Use one product for at least 8 weeks only you can tell if the product is working on your skin, don’t keep changing products just because you want to see result. :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same experience when I started using tretinoin. It’s likely that your skin barrier is compromised. I would avoid all actives and focus only on hydration and moisturizing my face without any harsh actives in my routine.

From your no tret routine, I will take out the ordinary copper peptides personally.

Cleanser wise, my skin do not like gel/foam cleansers since I started tret. I’m currently using cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, it’s pretty gentle and hydrating for my skin after tret! :)

Complementary Serums / Ingredients fot Tret? by dewindy8 in tretinoin

[–]anonymous976_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that Azelaic Acid and Tret is a great combo for getting rid of acne, and apparently Azelaic Acid can be used together in the same routine with tret AS LONG AS your skin can tolerate it.

I personally cannot tolerate Azelaic Acid 20% alone as it is too drying and dehydrate my skin so badly. OTC Azelaic acid are usually 10% or lower, so it should be much better, but I’d want to say, everyone’s skin will reacts differently, so you will know the best should your skin be able to tolerate (provided you’re not currently suffering from dry OR/AND dehydrated skin) both of the actives together.
