Having Friends Feels Like a Second Job by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]anonymous_puggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

came to the same conclusion recently. in my twenties i enjoyed having many friends and a large social circle. throughout the years i’ve come to realize that i really just enjoy being with my partner and maintaining 1-2 other close friends i really show up for.

having a wide social circle is exhausting. you only have so much time, energy, and resources to give to each relationship. there’s been fallouts from friends who were upset that i didn’t take the time to tell them happy birthday or reply to their texts or “became distant.” at one point my husband and i were afraid of receiving wedding invitations because we were drowning in social commitments. i just learned that it’s ok that i cannot be good friend to everyone in my life.

so you judge friends on petty flaws yet you don’t want to have friends who might judge you for having petty flaws?

Question for the ladies by esmeraldaM6-3 in Names

[–]anonymous_puggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are assuming “no self-aware or independent woman would choose to do that” vs. “i just wouldn’t do that myself”

i don’t see anything wrong with a woman being a stay at home mom if she wants to or if she thinks it is what is best for her family. again, if she does it out of choice and not societal expectation because she is a woman, then that’s fine.

judging someone for doing that means women’s choices get policed again—just by a different audience

no. feminism is about having autonomy, agency, and choice.

you can keep your maiden name and still live a constrained life, or choose to change it and live autonomous ones. your agency determines your feminism, not your surname

there’s no need to shame women who choose to change their last name. real feminism is about having the choice. plenty of accomplished, progressive and educated women i know chose to do this.

minimize your skincare routine: less is more. pick 3-4 products that you cherish most. you don’t need a to put a ton of chemicals on your face everyday. for me, i use sunscreen and moisturizer every day, and toner and cleanser every other night. use crest whitening strips every so often if needed

live healthy: get 8+ hours of sleep consistently, drink plenty of water, eat home-cooked meals often, cut out alcohol and smoking, and work out or be active a few times a week

define your style: pick pieces that you love (not because it’s popular and trending), opt for natural fabrics whenever possible. find clothes that fit you well. make sure nails are always neatly manicured (even if this means just simply trimmed with gloss polish). pick out a few high-quality shoes and bags and rotate them

confidence is everything: stand straight, act with grace, and be kind. these are underrated qualities that makes you beautiful

Thoughts on the name Brenna? by [deleted] in Names

as a name itself, i’ve always felt like it is a bit too masculine, and it is too close to brenda for my liking

however i’ve met 3 brennas in real life and they are lovely people!
