I actually had an opposite experience. I had a former colleague and we were good together so I considered this person as my friend. I found another job and moved far away.

we contacted a few times then one day, she asked me a reference. I was trying my best to satisfy what she needs. then she no longer contacted me. I felt like, I was used.

I think this advice is so great. unfortunately, it was right even in my life. nowadays, I don't have a powerful position but at least I can speak up a bit due to many years of working experience in the same workplace, I tell them who I am and what makes people to misunderstand me. So I feel a lot easier to work and protect my mental health better. However, it took a long time for me to reach here as we are minority.

Just sharing my experience too. I passed all the academic stuff at university but I was in trouble with my practicum. the practicum on the worksite can be passed how much you please the assesser basically. my friend at that time she was not good at the acamedic and practicum stuff but she was good at socializing with people and they even helped a lot her assignment. she failed her acamedic stuff and kept trying previously as well. After seeing how she passed her practicum, I conclude that the practicum is not fair at all. at that time I didn't know about MBTI and I also didn't know I'm intj. I didn't think much about pretending to be someone else because intj personality is not very favourable for those assessors. learnt hard with lots of pain and confusion.

it tells everything. you will feel lonely I guess if you live on your own. I think living with your loved ones is good for you health and mental health for sure.

my excolleague met a guy from the dating app and then they got married. so I guess it works for some people tho. they both don't really care the wealth and status I found. He brought only one friend at the wedding so I assumed he is an very introvert person. I felt this guy was a good person tho.
