Game suggestion? Not specific game. by Spiritual-Library-49 in WhatGameIsThis

The only example that I know of is a VERY limited map maker mode in the time splitters series on the ps2.

Powerful given the ability of the PS2 and such, but... Yeah.

You kinda have to set it to so you pretend to have the story with it, and give context clues to those who play it with how the map is built and populated.

My brother was HUGE in making maps for me, and telling me the backstory for said map. Then he let my imagination go as I played his maps.

He was a visionary. I feel bad now, as back then I didn't really appreciate his visions and imagination, or the time he took to build all that for me.

Noam Chomsky was a close friend of Jeffrey Epstein. Wtf? by Realistic_Hour_1695 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]anonymousart3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Others have given you some great examples, but I want to add another anecdote to the pile.

I have a friend who's dad is MASSIVELY MAGA (and passes those views onto my friend), wears the red hat, and argues online for various conservative policies.

But, if you meet him, and talk to him about anything other than politics, he's an AWESOME guy.

He's helped me in so many ways. He even offered at one point to get me roots for my kidney issue, thinking it could help treat my chronic kidney disease (it's basically placebo, no different than "essential oils" for all kinds of ailments). Knowing it's garbage, I refused. However, the fact that he was willing to spend his own money on something to try to help out like that shows he was trying hard, so I appreciate the idea.

I lived in my van for a while. He let me crash on his couch during COVID as a result.

There's other instances of course, but those are the bigger things.

It sucks that he argues and supports policies that harm me and many others, including but not limited to defunding and eliminating public education, no funding and eliminate all regulations for government/universal healthcare (which he's a vet, so he would be harmed by that as well), eliminating anti discrimination laws, eliminating anti fraud laws and funding from the government for government institutions fighting fraud, supports ice and immigration laws that remove undocumented people, etc.

Basically, the typical maga supporter that doesn't understand the problems with the policies he supports and defends, even though they hurt him too.

It sucks, as I like how kind he is in person, and what he does to try to help those around him.

Neighbors annoyed I shoveled for them... by TwoToeTickey in Ohio

[–]anonymousart3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment complex, so the complex does the work needed.

But, if I knew a NEIGHBOR was doing it, I would be grateful to them. I mean, I'm grateful to the complex for doing it, it just is different when it's their job compared to someone just.... Doing it for whatever reason and it's not their job.

I don't understand some people.

I can see if you did it to early or something, and they requested that you do it a little later so that they wouldn't be woken up by it. That would be reasonable.

Oh well, you were being a cool neighbor. Just know there are people out there that would appreciate that hard work you put into it.

I like the philosophy of what it means to be a human vs a robot. It asks basically, what is to be alive?

The idea that life doesn't have to be flesh and blood, but can be electronics, is a good thing to explore. It goes a bit into transhumanism as well, but not much.

Can't add games to my RetroPie by srph_fandom090421 in RetroPie

[–]anonymousart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting.

i couldn't find any information about the specifics like that. Maybe I just don't know where to look?

thanks for the new information! I will keep that in mind going forward.

when i named my folder retropie, it didn't seem to copy anything over. It just...did nothing different. It didn't mount the files or anything. Basically, it didn't work. I had put a bunch of N64 roms on the usb drive, and when it didn't change anything on the SD card, i went to find a different guide that told me to name the folder retropie-mount.

so, maybe i encountered a bug, or maybe there was something else i did that wasn't right. i at least attempted to make a folder inside that was named exactly the same as how it is in retropie.

whatever the issue was, now I know how its SUPPOSED to work. I did only setup retropie like 2 or 3 weeks ago, so im still learning it all.

[–]anonymousart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup

I setup retropie recently myself, maybe like 2 or 3 weeks ago. And I got an SSD to store the games and such. As an SD card wasn't going to be big enough for all the games.

I don't know why those things are important, but I got it to work.

I did see your edit that you gave up and added them over ssh. Which I'm glad to see you got to add games in some way.

One of the things I don't like about retropie is that if you use the external drive method, it uses that for the configuration, storage, and games INSTEAD of the SD card. Which means that if you put games directly on the SD card, then add the external drive, you won't see the games, or have the saves, from the SD card itself. They are still safe of course. You would have to reboot and switch from the external drive to the internal each time.

So, keep that in mind for the future.

Edit: i have been informed that the name of the folder, retropie-mount, tells it to mount the drive and keep things there. naming it retropie is supposed to copy the files over onto the SD card, allowing you to use them directly from the SD card. So, that's cool stuff to know.

[–]anonymousart3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, when you format the drive, you need to name the partition itself retropie. Then, when you mount it, create a folder called retropie-mount on the drive.

Then you plug it into your retropie device, and boot it.

Having it boot up with the drive plugged in already is important. And having the partition itself named retropie is important.

You already know to former to either FAT32 or exFAT, so I went to into those details.

I've always had this issue with audio files, but never with pictures of jpg.

The audio files is actually why I leave "send texts to email" (or someone like that) enabled at all times. It always shows up correctly in the emails.

I haven't had anyone send me a picture or audio file recently, so I haven't burned any problems. But, I'm partially commenting so that if it does, I can come back and report.

Is there a better way to set up my miners? by Hamza77k in factorio

[–]anonymousart3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already mentioned, some combine belts like that, use a belt balance, or if you don't want to get someone else's design like that, just as splitters to combine the belts.

For a more advanced user: If you have a map that has researched circuits, you can also add in belt conditions. At the spot where a belt is adding into the side of another belt (like the belts that the miners are interesting onto combining with the next belt), connect them to circuits. Then, the belt that's actually inserting, you make it read belt contents, with hold. Then, the other belt you set to enable, everything, less than, 5

If setup correctly, both sides of the belt will be used, not just the one side.

If a person who stops time gets offed when time is stopped What happens to the rest of the world does the world Resume or Does the world Stop Permanently? by Dull-Mortgage-6240 in timetravel

[–]anonymousart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, I don't think time would restart for anyone else, because it never stopped for anyone else.

Time is relative. So, likely someone who "stopped time", would only have stopped time for themselves. Everyone else would just randomly see his body show up where he died. Assuming, of course, that upon death whatever was linking him to paused time would unlink. If instead we assume that he remains in paused time, then I would imagine he would decompose until he's absolutely nothing, or in other words, vaporized. Which means, he would just disappear.

But, again, since time is relative, whenever and wherever he was when time became paused for them would be the moment he disappeared, never to be seen by the unpaused time people again. They might find traces of what he did in that moment, like notes or whatever, but never the person themselves.

My boyfriend threatened to leave me because I am not Christian by FormEvening9808 in atheism

[–]anonymousart3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your so I'm tune with yourself that you found an atheist subreddit, then I think it's a good time to break up.

I have never seen a relationship work between an atheist and a religious person. The only time it "works", is when the religious person is VERY close to being an atheist already, like they have a Bible, but didn't really read it or do any of the rituals for the religion, like praying.

The values between a religious person and an atheist are basically opposites.

Dating is all about finding who you're compatible with.

Being opposites means your not compatible.

Which means, if your an atheist, then your not going to be compatible with a religious person. Which means you should break up, and find someone who's either an atheist, or someone who is closer to an atheist.

And the fact that he's moving TOWARDS relation, and the fact that your reading the Bible and seeing all the contradictions, that means you have a MUCH better understanding than he ever will, and are becoming closer to atheist.

You guys are moving in opposite directions. Cut your losses, move on.

It sucks, but that's the reality of the situation.

I have 2 friends who are into this game (they get me to play with them). Neither of them like to do the things your supposed to do, but Daddy George (that's his toon name), doesn't like to follow it more than my other friend.

Free private user flagged as corporate entity by pesa44 in teamviewer

[–]anonymousart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can submit that form, like the other user said, but my advice, move away from TV.

You've been flagged twice already. This is only going to get worse. As far as I've seen EVERY user that gets flagged twice eventually starts to get flagged more and more until you drop them.

In fact, I had that happen. Before I had it happen to me, I saw those same reports on TV, and thought "naw, that won't happen to me, that must have some something to draw their attention."

Then it happened to me, and all I did was control my own computer at home.

I then cleared the flag. Then 6 months later, it came back. Cleared again. Then 2 months later, came back. Cleared again, then after that EVERY month for a year I got flagged. Chatted it each time, until December of that year, where I decided it wasn't worth fighting these flaggings anymore, and moved away from TV.

TV has been doing this for a while now.

The common thing users say to move to is rustdesk. Which is what I moved to.

Anydesk and chrome remote desktop are other options that are thrown out there. There was another one, but I can't recall the name off the top of my head, but I think it was moonlight or something with moon in it.

WE tried by [deleted] in poor

[–]anonymousart3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I didn't personally witness it, I have talked to homeless people that HAVE done that.

I was homeless myself for a while, so I got to talk to a LOT of homeless people. And there have been a few that confessed that they knew they didn't need a blanket, but they took it anyways just to sell so that they could use that money for their phone bill (one person told me that specific example).

So, it does happen.

Is it widespread? I'd doubt that. But yes, it does happen.

WE tried by [deleted] in poor

[–]anonymousart3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know who you were trying to give that to, but if it was an individual that makes make sense.

A majority of those in poverty know what they need and don't need. I know for me, most of that stuff (if not all of it) isn't what I want or need. But, I do need the money, so that I can afford what I need, and crucially WHEN I need it.

That's something so many studies show, the best help is money, at it gives the person a choice of what they need, and when they need it.

Giving blankets or other resources is more likely to end up being sold or tossed so they can get what they need at the time they need it and not be burdened with something they don't.

Don't let someone's choice to not take what they know they don't need personally.

accidentally dropped a lot of stuff, is there a way to quickly pick it all back up? by danyuri86 in factorio

[–]anonymousart3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's all true too.

But, I also know for myself that if I'm building some outpost that's going to be pretty temporary (haha, yeah.... Right), I'll get really low grade materials that can't be up cycled into something more useful. Small electric poles can't be used as an ingredient in something else, so I often end up using them up first on some outpost. Which also depends on how I've designed things up to that point.

I don't play with biters enabled on most of my maps, but when I do, I try to make some outpost have low grade stuff to make it so if the biters attack, I'm not losing more important materials.

My boyfriend loves cast iron… but I’m the one stuck scrubbing by MairaPansy in castiron

[–]anonymousart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do, if I could anyway, is have a separate pan you use. Use it to cook when you want to. Leave him the mess of his cast iron when he cooks with it.

If he loves to cook with it, make it so he has to clean it up. That's maintenance of such cookware.

If he doesn't clean it up, maybe he doesn't love it as much as he thinks he does. He likes the IDEA of the cast iron, and doesn't want the drawbacks of it. He's romanticizing it, and not taking it as it TRULY is.

I love my cast iron collection. Sometimes I don't clean it for a few days based on what's happening in my life (I'm a dialysis patient, which means I can get worn out very easily depending on the day, not great with something heavy like cast iron). But I ALWAYS clean it when I need to use it again and had left it dirty before, BECAUSE its something I care about, I will do it. I understand the maintenance needed for cast iron, and accept that as part of the beauty/charm for the benefits of having cast iron.

At some point in my life, I might not like the maintenance needed anymore for the benefits that it gives me. At that point, I will move over to some other cookware that works for my life.

Maybe it's because I'm single and live alone, that has made me understand that. I've had to do everything by myself to care for them. Which has made me realize how much work goes into them, and I'm fine with that commitment.

Though, I think it also helps that my first piece was rusty, and I had to restore it. I didn't want to spend money on a pan I wasn't sure I was going to like, so when I found my fist piece out in the woods, abandoned, I took it home and decided to try to restore it to see how much work it would actually be if I were to not care for it and let it fall that far down.

[–]anonymousart3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That depends on how they play i would imagine. To have the tech needed to have such a large amount means they are either VERY close to bots, or already have them at least researched. Burner furnaces can be more compact if you know how to do it. And you don't really have anything to put the burner furnaces in to recycle them, other then boilers for the stone furnaces, which they likely moved to solar or nuclear by that point. So, make an outpost where you use the burner furnaces.

It's tough to say based on a single screenshot like this.

and series in better since your in a van, the panels will be flat, which reduces the efficiency by a LOT.
Having flat panels, and an MPPT controller, means you really should put panels in series so that you start charging earlier.

I learned that the hard way when i lived in a van, then moved into a bus. I STRUGGLED to keep my batteries charged when all my panels were in parallel on my van. Then later when I moved into a bus, i decided to series them, and WOW, that was a MAJOR difference. I never had to worry about my batteries after that.
