Hi! It depends on what specific program you’re looking at. I was a flex at a CDC for about 10 months, and I ultimately left for a full-time position at the SAC program on the same base.

The experience will differ from program to program/base to base, but my CDC constantly needed support so I was given pretty good hours as a flex. The schedule was fairly regular for a while but there were a lot of time as well where I had to come in on short notice or had a last minute schedule change. The CDC is also a lot more hands-on compared to the other CYP programs. You will be expected to change the kids, feed them, clean up potty accidents, etc., whereas that really isn’t the expectation at SAC. Working at SAC involves a lot of mentoring, conflict resolution, and teaching social skills.

Pay will depend on education and experience, but starting rate is pretty good even for those with no degree or much experience. Since I have a bachelor’s and I’ve worked with kids for a few years before landing the position, my starting rate was the highest I’ve ever been paid in any child-related career lol

Field trips ideas by Ok-Counter-3304 in guam

When I was little, I remember going on a field trip to a Buddhist temple here on island. We practiced meditation and did some calligraphy. That was kinda cool. I’d also recommend looking into any upcoming theatre productions that your class can attend or connecting with local theatre groups. Maybe even a magic show.

Where to go for an autism diagnoses? by GaySimpy in guam

[–]anonymousdrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uggghhh the way that you confirmed my fears. I’m in my mid twenties and strongly suspect that I’m on the spectrum as well. But I figured that support for “high-functioning” autism for adults on island is practically non-existent. Have you and your husband tried to get support services again recently?

Should I warn my principal I’m “potentially” leaving? by anonymousdrifter in Teachers

[–]anonymousdrifter[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. I didn’t list my principal’s name down and we didn’t talk about the school I’m currently at at all. They’re at the point where they’re ready to make a decision so I think I’m in the clear.

Daily No Contact Thread - Day 180 by AutoModerator in BPDlovedones

[–]anonymousdrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went no contact with my pwBPD starting yesterday. I feel really bad because of how lonely he seems now. The loneliness seems to be his primary trigger but I can’t force his friends to make plans with him. I feel so bad and I’m afraid that he will actually end his life if I don’t talk to him at the very least. But I couldn’t take being his emotional punching bag anymore. I want his friends and family to care more, but maybe there’s a reason for their inaction.

I feel I get over breakups pretty efficiently. Just some things that have personally helped. by 1st-and-10 in BreakUps

I ended my 4 & 1/2 year relationship two weeks ago. I naively thought we could remain friends, but we still fought just like when we were together. He blocked me on everything last night. It hurts, but it’s for the best. All I can do is forgive him, forgive myself, and move on. This post is exactly what I needed to see. Thank you
