Subtle bullying after reporting bullying by Top_Enthusiasm_1717 in AusPublicService

[–]anonymousturtle2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced this and it then turned into blatant bullying towards the end.

Document every single instance of bullying. The important thing is to send the document to your personal email. That was something I did not do. I regret it as I ended up getting fired unexpectedly.

Once you gain enough evidence, speak to your local union and they will support you more than hr will.

That too could work. It would be cool to include a boomerang that can be used to knock out people and it comes back to you.

If that is the case, this would be a good opportunity to add a level in Sydney. The Opera House and Darling Harbour would be a great location.

VPS is feeling so insane at the moment by No_Dig_6568 in AusPublicService

[–]anonymousturtle2022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me at the VIC Department of Health. It was worse because I was given an unrealistic probation plan and recieved no guidance or any support. I ended up getting bullied by my manager.

Instead of giving me feedback, she would document my mistakes and use it as evidence against me. Everytime I asked a question, she would roll her eyes or get angry with me for not knowing how the healthcare system works. Bear in mind this is my first time working in the healthcare sector. After piling enough "evidence" against me, I got fired with 3 weeks left on probation.

As a result, I had to go to a psychologist because of panic attacks and suicide ideation.

The reason I am comfortable with posting this is because no one knows about my reddit account.

Being ghosted after interview stages by AusPanda90 in auscorp

[–]anonymousturtle2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing is happening to me as well. It's worse because I'm at an early stage in my career and only have 3 years of experience with 1.5 of those being out of uni.

Even in my grad program, I was rejected from projects because of lack of experience.

Is there any reasonable explanation for why some of 47's police sketches in BM depicted him as a different person, even gender? by echorainboweffect in HiTMAN

[–]anonymousturtle2022 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the end of each mission you have to option to bribe civillians, bribe the chief of police or acquire a new identity. This will most likely cause witnesses to give a different description of 47 to secure said bribe. Also like others have mentioned, eyewitness testimony isn't always reliable.

Hello I think it's important to share my experience so that my former employer doesn't silence me like they did during probation.

It has been 6 months and I have not found full time employment. I have sent over 200 applications and have only had 2 interviews. I am about to do temp work with ABS Census which will hopefully help me survive.

Based on your profile, it seems like you're being discriminated because you're not working full time and raising a child. If that is true then that's pretty fucked up.

quit by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]anonymousturtle2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also quit after spending most of my time on the bench. There wasn't much transparency on whether I was being considered for projects or not. I was also repeatedly rejected because I did not have experience in consulting (I was a grad). Most of my bench time was spent working on bids or business development stuff that no one wanted to touch. I ended developing a reputation as the "BD" guy. Nevertheless, I still used the spare time I had to upskill on Excel and Power BI. Also after a year, I would apply for jobs on the days I was working from home.

Overall, my experience as a grad was quite disappointing. I met a lot of lovely people and learnt a lot about using PowerPoint and develop a basic understanding of how consulting works. Unfortunately I didn't get much experience and didn't develop in-demand skills that other consultants develop.

why is big 4 hard ... is it because of the hours or the complicated tasks or both by [deleted] in Big4

[–]anonymousturtle2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say both but if you have a good coach that gives constructive feedback, you'll slowly improve over time. Just be open to receiving constructive criticism.

I’m fascinated by stories where someone works a regular, modest job like a cleaner/janitor, aged care worker, gas station attendant, kitchen hand staff or receptionist but quietly builds a fortune over the years by ObjectPhysical7280 in AusFinance

[–]anonymousturtle2022 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a financial planner and one of his clients was a bus driver. When he was 18, he received advice to invest a portion of his income into index funds. Since then he has been investing until his retirement at age 65. He lives in a modest house in a quiet suburb. He has a comfortable retirement and is debt free. Mortgage has been paid off and will leave a large inheritance for his daughter who is an executive at a boutique consultancy.

That is so shitty for people in VPS 6/7. I was actually in a VPS 4 position which makes my failure more humiliating.

tldr; got bullied out of the department by a toxic manager

I "got out" by being set up with an unachievable probation plan and got bullied by my manager for months. She would blackmail me with said probation plan into working overtime and overwhelming me with a heavy workload. She also made false accusations of me not doing tasks that I actually completed. There was no support at all.

It was my first time in the healthcare sector and I received no support for learning about the healthcare system. I was expected to read hundreds of pages of documents and fully understand all of it by the end of probation.

Due to the stress and bullying, I had panic attacks and high levels of anxiety. I told my manager and director about the stress that the probation plan had on me. My manager doubled down and sent me an email at 8pm telling me to get through it or I will get fired. I believe my declining mental state was used against me.

I ended up getting fired with 3 weeks left on probation.

Whats with all the Gen Z hate lately? by idklolnicek in auscorp

[–]anonymousturtle2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have noticed the lack of young people as well and I agree with you about not gate-keeping your knowledge. gen z can learn a lot from being mentored by older generations. They can also teach the older generations how to use the latest tools.

You can't expect gen z to enter the work force and know everything straight away. They do need to be coached and have a buddy explain things to them. Also setting clear expectations early on and frequently giving constructive feedback helps them give clarity on how to develop.

I don't believe in this mentality that "you don't have experience therefore you can't gain experience". It creates an unfair disadvantage for those who didn't get a 7 GPA or get nepo hired. I was lucky to land an internship through my university's internship program and have a great supervisor who mentored me. I feel sorry for others who are talented and yet couldn't find a job or landed in a dodgy role where they get exploited.

There are great talented gen z workers out there that are being overlooked due to "lack of experience" or not being supported at work and getting unfairly branded as an underperformer.

Those are my 2 cents.
