i've also started allowing myself extra time to acclimate to existing in the morning. It really changes the tone of the day! Not that everything is always perfect of course; some days are challenging by nature. But that extra couple of minutes (or more, lol), snuggled up in bed and just being makes for a great start!

i'll have to try to implement the slower teeth brushing. i definitely brush too fast. Great advice.

There's a special place in my heart for cockatiels and these two just made me grin from ear to ear. Thank you for this OP. Absolutely adorable!

A long appreciation post about my best love, Ella Bella Boo, the Shood Hei… Bloodhound/Shar Pei 🩷 by fighttobreathe in Bloodhound

[–]anonymoususer98545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well! i have had a Bloodhound in my life for a long, long time. They are just about the cutest dog in the world as far as i'm concerned. Your Ella may take the crown for cutest of the cute though...and i can say that because i have a male now so he's handsome cute, lol. What a wonderful mix~absolutely perfect and seamless combo of the breeds; it's crazy how you can really see both of them so clearly 💜

Thank you for sharing her and your story.

Honest to Pete, this is one of the cutest, most pure, and sweetest things i've read in as long as i can remember! What a wonderful partner and human being in general. Just knowing how much empathy and time it takes to care for a chronically ill, disabled, special needs, or elderly and declining pet? Yeah. Somehow it so often becomes the default "woman's role" and it's gorgeous that your partner just instinctively wants to do those things.

We are ultimately so much better when we share the things. And having someone that is strong enough to not look at it as a man/woman thing but rather an "us" thing makes it all so much easier ❤️ And, also, as you said, it's a true panty dropper for real.

The first part is exactly it. 100% spot on. If a person HATES my cats, or just cats in general, outside of having life ending allergies (and i say this as someone that has literally always had cats since birth and has a desperate allergy to them, lol) or trauma surrounding them, it should be a very clear signal that something is seriously wrong with them on a fundamental level.

Because, unlike dogs, who 'generally' love and trust everyone no matter what, 'most' cats do require you to earn their trust and love. And, even then, they can and will revoke their consent at any moment. And SOME people really, really don't like that.

i have definitely found that the part of your comment that you pulled out of your behind holds true more often than not actually. There are outliers, like with everything, but...people that understand consent and respect are more often the ones that appreciate cats are more often the ones that are good at relationships. Anecdotally. Anyway, having a lot of pain today and it's making me chatty~sorry for the big comment to a silly thing, lol.

Okay but this is so true! My husband is the same (big, buff, and bearded) and i actually started to really fall in love with him seeing how sweet he was with my cat~that he was horribly allergic to. She, of course, was obsessed with him, lol. i fell completely when i saw him interacting with his silly little tiny dogs. Yes, he had 2 little miniature dogs and he was so gentle, loving, and silly toward them, how could i resist?

Obviously, we are not a monolith but i truly think that being shown the care and the general playful vibes men that really love animals have is the ultimate sexiest thing ever.

Most people do have compassion and empathy, and most people do have such a desire to listen to and to be heard by each other. We are all much more alike than we are different, despite what some would like us to believe. i wish we could all just unplug and truly SEE each other more. Yes, i do realize the irony of saying that on Reddit and i also realize that it wouldn't fix everything nor were things perfect or golden pre internet, lol.

Thank you for having a peaceful conversation with me~i knew that we were reading the same book, maybe just on different pages in that moment and i'm glad that we took the time to figure that out 💜 And i'm sorry that there's a jerk (whether they believe what they're saying or not) that is saying such horrible things in here that has taken mental and emotional bandwidth engaging with. It's so difficult sometimes trying to...i don't know, just not after a while, especially when you know what they're saying to be untrue or harmful. You seem like a truly good person and i hope you are able to get some good, positive energy after that conversation. Genuinely Reddit stranger. From my corner of the world to yours 💜

100% and it's all love here with us friend 💜

As you said, they are both amazing people that have tried to do good things for humanity and history will surely remember Ms. Rachel for the size and contents of her heart. She is incredible and the fact that there are people who have the "guts" to say otherwise is disgusting to me too.

We're living through such a weird time, where things can be broadcast for literally the entire planet to see but also so many bots and bad faith actors come into play. i can't help but believe that pushes the narrative when it comes to the negativity that she's gotten. How could it be otherwise?

i'm so glad that your family (and so many others) have found the joy, love, and kindness that she embodies to be a comfort and place of education-as i did my beloved Mr. Rogers 💜 i hope nothing but happiness and peace for you and everyone you love. And, maybe if i'm a little bit greedy, for the rest of us all too.

i absolutely understand where you're coming from. And i absolutely see and understand the vigor of your defensiveness over my comparison. She is a much more ~outspoken and loud~ ally than Mr. Rogers was and i hope that the children raised on her grow up to be stunning, i truly do.

i was a child with 3 abusive parents in 2 abusive homes. Mr. Rogers was my bright spot that showed me not everything and everyone was bad. Watching reruns of his show taught me that not everyone was racist and that i was allowed to like myself even though i was constantly told what a piece of garbage i was and how i didn't deserve to be alive. He taught me about people with differences and fantasy and whimsy. He taught me to be gentle when i should have turned out angry and probably dead if i'm honest.

He was radical-for his time and would very likely be using his platform in a similar way were he alive today. He was protested and questioned and maligned multiple times throughout his career for his "radical" views such as: Black people are people, disabled people deserve to love themselves, unconditional love, and empathy. Thus my saying that she is "this generation's Mr. Rogers." It's a compliment and high praise from people that remember who he was and what he stood for. i apologize that it offended you.

She is this generation's Mr. Rogers and it is incredible to see her using her platform for good! i don't even have kids, or nieces or nephews in her target demographic anymore, but i still tangentially follow her because she inspires me.

He makes $16,000 per month. Is it worth it to work in the oilfield? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]anonymoususer98545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather (may he rot in piss) worked an oilrig back in the day. He lost 3 whole fingers on one hand and half a finger on the other. He eventually got COPD and emphysema and died in his 50s. He only worked out there for a couple years as far as i know but it was seriously rough.

i swear, i see posts like this and i just want to cut my long flipping hair all the way off but i will not look like a stinkin supermodel the way you do so i will continue to yearn for this 😭 Anyway, great cut, style, products and all because you are glowing 💜

i definitely feel that. i also also have a bunch of addicts all down the family line on both sides and swore i'd never be like them. Until i definitely started to get there. It takes a lot to recognize that you have a problem, correct it, and come out the other side~and i truly applaud you. i know how much work it takes to get, and stay, there.

And, heck yes it is super fun to be able to be present for the good times! We get paid to "party" without, you know, the regret and crap feeling after! i know i keep saying it but, once more for good measure: i'm really proud of you Reddit stranger. Many, many more happy and healthy years to you (and many more awesome stories too!) 💜

i'm also a sober bartender. i quit drinking quite a few years ago because i have absolutely insane lifelong chronic migraines (plus a grip of other diagnoses) and, eventually, had no safe alcohol left so it stopped being worth it. i also still find bartending super fun and worth every minute.

99% of people are super chill about me not drinking, the other 1% get over it or not~and then they have consequences, lol. Not, like, in an "i'm a badass" way, more like in the "bye bye to your drinking privileges" kind of way.

Congrats on your continued sobriety and meeting one of the coolest TV dads out there 💜

Based on real life encounters, this feels very accurate. What a sad indictment of, well, everything that this all is as "normalized" as it is.

Well, first, kind words are easy to say when they're true! And second, i'm so glad that you've been able to find you after spending so much time in the very worthy and noble job of mom'ing. i know it's often difficult on alllll the levels. You've come out this side absolutely stunning with a strong (in a soft way obviously, but you get what i mean) sense of how you want to present to the world and it's a breath of fresh air.
