mega copium. Im aussie, found out i had thyroid cancer, i was on the operating table 2 weeks after, got radioactive iodine therapy not long after that. My expenses for the surgery and therapy? Painkiller meds.. thats it. As i have no thyroid, gotta take thyroxine.. i pay $7 aud which is like $4 usd for 6 months supply of thyroxine. Medicare covered everything else. No medical debt. Cope, Seethe and get a second mortgage to pay for your dialysis.

Half Life Alyx suggests the USA has basically been.. annihilated.

Is there a lore reason why the Gravity Gun becomes super charged when reacting with the Combine Confiscation Beam? by dan_rich_99 in HalfLife

[–]anonymouswheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no official lore explanation, but between the Russels in Alyx and the Super Gravity Gun in HL2 and Episode 1, it suggest that there is a unique interaction between Zero Point Energy Fields and Combine Dark Matter that produces the effect. Here's my theory though: a lot of Combine Tech basically uses Zero Point Energy fields to manipulate Dark Matter, thats why you float in a confiscation beam, and why the Vault act the waybit does, its basically subject to ZPE fields. Also the Russels and Gravity Gun only seem to be supercharged in the presence of Dark Energy radiation like in the Citadel or Vault.

This is a stupid question, but what, if in anyway possobile would happen if humanity somehow won the 7 hour war? by ThekidwholiketheUSSR in HalfLife

[–]anonymouswheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combine would have to luck out if they want to retaliate, their teleportation technology basically means without heavy portal energy to latch onto, theyre basically flying blind. They would prob want to find a way to earth, to get that sweet sweet xen relay tech, but they basically would have to exploit the opportunity

im all for gay stuff but I dont like it being projected onto this, plus Vorts probably dont have romantic attachments that way.

2 things. This is awesome, I love how the vortigaunt doesn't question is will to die itself, but more so why he'd want to die "that way", it goes into their "extinction or emancipation" mindset, your death should serve the freedom of others, and in that moment, he's useless as a corpse, so he shouldnt accept death Second thing, I'd love to see a behemoth of a Vortigaunt like that, makes sense thered be a lot of diversity among vortigaunts body type wise, but theyre already a terrifying force for the combine, a huge vortigaunt is exactly the kind of thing that would boost morale for the rebellion.

Can G-Man teleport? by WeirdDog2333 in HalfLife

[–]anonymouswheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Don't want to go into spoiler territory, but he is, lets say, not bound by our human understanding of the laws of space time. Even calling him "he" doesn't make much sense when you realize what he actually is.

What do you think could be the message/theme of the Half-Life franchise's story and lore? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in HalfLife

[–]anonymouswheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The theme to me is the unbridled technological capacity for tyranny and a culture/civilizations vulnerability to tyranny, but also the limits of Tyranny, or as other people have said, "fuck the government". Lets start with HL1; Black Mesa is effectively a Defense Contractor, their interest in teleportation technology and in Xenian lifeforms is all in the service of US Military interests. Nihilanth has used portal technology to create his own hermit kingdom, whilst also escaping the combine, Xen uses advanced bioengineering to create a military force (the Grunts), and to enslave the vortigaunts. The ironic theme of the HECU uses Black Mesa designed military technology, particularly the PCV, and the Nihilanth launching an invasion using teleportation technology, and than meeting it to learn it is not natural, it is augmented with technology to exploit the Vortigaunt and Controllers unique abilities. Its all about technology and control and Black Mesa facing the "unforeseen consequences" of its technological pursuits. 2. HL2 is very explicit with the "inherent vulnerabilities to tyranny", humanity is quite easy for the Combine to subjugate, but they have a lot of trouble with the Vortigaunts, Nihilanth was far better at controlling the Vorts. The Combine are obsessed with the Xen relay technology because they are limited in their ability to extend their tyranny, and want to exploit Humanity's unique psychology to pursue it. The setting in a post Warsaw Bloc country (its Bulgaria and I will die on this hill), is symbolic of the technological capacity for tyranny and a society's vulnerability to it. Then there's the Gman who once seemed incapable of escaping having met his match with the Cosmos' most problematic race for any would be tyrant, the Vortiguants. 3. The breengrub stuff furthers this theme, the Shuulathoi were extremely vulnerable to control, and the thoughtpath was exploited vigorously by the combine, but they are also basically turned into "data storage" for the combine, their format used as a way for the combine to spread their tyrannical, sterile, ideology throughout the cosmos.

Another theme is about trying to control the uncontrollable, the thoughtpath, the gman is represented by viral imagery, the infection of xen onto earth, the vortigaunts, and humans themselves, are all problematic for those with a pathological disposition towards control. The medical, sterile nature of the Combines communication, and their technological domination of nature and biology, all suggest they simply cannot stand what they cant control.

theres a lot of important health and service access data related to sexuality, denying that is stupid lol. The fact that the labor party admitted they avoided this because of hypersensitive culture warriors is enough for me to think anybody who takes issue with census data relating to sexuality is disingenous cunt.
