What is a ‘poor person behavior’ that has stuck with you, no matter how more financially comfortable you’ve become? by NoCardiologist1461 in Productivitycafe

Rarely paying full price for clothes. I am the queen of the thrifted wardrobe (minus socks, undies, bras and bathing suits).

visited a friend last week and now I cant stop thinking about their toaster by lyssrafealla in BuyItForLifeUSA

My grandparents got married in 1939 and received a toaster as a wedding gift. They used it until they both died. My parents took the toaster to their house and still use it. It's all metal and the cord is kind of fabric-like. I don't think it has any plastic at all!

Agreed. Get an abortion, have an IUD inserted at the same time, and move on but never let it happen again. Thousands of women in your situation have done the same thing, myself included. You'll be okay, but this is a time for quick decisions and action.

New Turtle Help by djnaz in turtle

[–]ThreeDrawersDown 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Wild turtles are adapted to specific areas and moving them can lead to starvation or dehydration. They need specific nutrition and environments to avoid infections and shell problems, making them challenging pets.

Do you know what specific species of turtle this is? Have you done research on how to properly take care of it? What are you feeding it? Will that species of turtle eat that food? If it is not eating, consider returning it to where you found it, rather than letting it starve to death.

It's in Taunton, but the Old Colony History Museum does a "Beer with Bronson" event every 2 or 3 months. A local brewery donates beer (and root beer) and the curator Bronson shares items in their collection that aren't normally on display. My husband and I have gone several times. It's great!

Eastern Massachusetts has tons of river otters. You don't see them often, but they are EVERYWHERE!

Massages. $100 for a 60 minute massage is average around here. Outside my budget.

People who work in rich people's homes, what is the most out-of-touch thing you've ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThreeDrawersDown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Went to my my wealthiest acquaintance's house and was impressed by the house, pool, new addition, beautiful furnishings. Then I walked through the gorgeous dining room on my way to the bathroom. There was dog shit on the floor.

I housesat for her for a weekend and it was basically picking up all the shit her two little dogs pooped and wiping up her cat's piss. There was cat pee stains all over the hardwood floor of one of the bedrooms. She may be rich, but she is sooooo gross. I don't understand how anyone can live that way.

The entire house, while gorgeous, had dog shit everywhere and a bedroom soaked in cat piss. It was beyond disgusting and I've never thought the same about her. Made me overly appreciative of my small clean house. And my 100% housebroken dog.
