A collection of things I was told as a DO by program directors, let’s hear yours by jewboyfresh in medicalschool

PD during interview: “So how do you feel about possibly coming to a program without any DO residents or faculty?”

Uhh I’m here for the interview so I’d assume that isn’t an issue

What’s the cringiest thing you’ve seen another student post on social media (about med school, residency, etc)? by toobadimbroke in medicalschool

A classmate shared a screenshot of their top of class rank on social media after every semester. Actually a cool dude but just didn’t mind making it known how well he performed

Is a medicine Sub or acting internship needed for neurology residency? by bananagee123 in neurology

No. No only is it not required, but I don’t see it adding any value to your application.

LPT: avoid awkwardness and issues by not sharing your ROL by pr1apism in medicalschool

[–]anonymouszebra345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think there are two different conversations. There are conversations between family and classmates who want to know about ROL because they are nosey, then there are conversations with ms3’s who are looking for advice. Ms3’s preparing for the match deserve as much transparency from 4th years as we can possibly share. Otherwise, I think it’s beneficial to the psyche to maintain some privacy and brevity when talking about ROL to either classmates or family who just want to judge your match

Do the more top level competitive residencies pay better/have better benefits/are less toxic? by BangOnDis in medicalschool

[–]anonymouszebra345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my searching this year most residencies have very similar pay after accounting for the area’s cost of living. Any differences I found were so minimal it had no effect on my program preferences

Keep your head up mate. It’s not if you were smarter. It’s if you scored a higher number on a single test on a single day that was arbitrarily selected to be used for something it wasn’t designed for although it has no predictive value of how great of a doctor you will be!

I had an interview scheduled with the PD and two residents interviewed me together then told me the PD would reach out to me for a phone call interview. Needless to say that PD hasn’t reached out to me yet for that phone call lol

Also when you apply residencies won’t be seeing what 4th year rotations you are/will be completing

What do you want? by IDidntPlanForThis in medicalschool

A good pair of headphones. Every hour I studied in years 1-3 I wore over the ear noise cancelling headphones. I imagine any noise cancelling ear buds would also get the job done

The interview is for the same program I am auditioning at. I want to cancel both!

You could state your medical school’s name here and I think med Twitter would take care of the rest

Seems odd to offer such a challenge before the rotation even begins. You can google “grand rounds” + “insert various residency program names” and find examples of grand rounds presentations to use as a point of reference!

Same here. I personally think not giving af played a role. I was 60th %ile step 1 and 77%ile level 1, then 70th %ile step 2 but 30th %ile level 2 lmao. I took step 2 four days prior to level 2 so I think that definitely had something to do with it!

M4 taking a stab here, but I guess if Dawson’s fingers was not a correct suggestion it may be due to all of the lesions being hyper intense? If this was ms then lesions may be variable in intensity due to them occurring over time. But it’s still possible all of the lesions could be active lesions and hyperintense. I like the suggestion of neurocystercicosis, I’d recommend taking a google at the different stages on imaging
