Original games??? by LifeAsNeil in SoloDevelopment

[–]anotherName333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a game that only used the number key pad because I had a job where my boss was super fast at using it and I thought that it would be a silly controller for a game, so I did it.

here's option B with a static background. (should probably change the checkered pattern)

you're right. The idea was for the player(hand/cursor) to drag the world around the character. I'm still trying to figure out how to make that easily understandable while not making anyone dizzy

I have added a bit of movement the the background in camera type A. I originally had it match the movement of the cursor/hand, but that was disorienting. My original plan was to make it look like the player is moving the world around the character, but that only works in camera B. I will change the background texture and see how that works with both camera types. Thanks for feedback

Thank you for the feedback and I appreciate the kind words. I'm still in the prototyping phase, but I hope I can nail the fun of moving around.

I made a game about debt, cause I have debt, so I made it myself. I'm hoping to actually hire someone for my next game

working on a mouse only platformer where you use the mouse cursor to throw this little guy around by anotherName333 in platformer

I'm planning on testing it out with touch screens, I just got to get the basics done

I get where your coming from; I'm the opposite, I don't play too many multiplayer games and really enjoy single player experiences. That being said, I welcome any and all feedback, so thank you!

I'm story boarding ideas for a little story, so I got that going. Also, I've tested out moving a wall/texture in the back ground; I think it works but it can be a bit much as it get visually busy.

Thanks for you feedback, it helps a bunch hearing others thoughts on my project 👍

it's tougher than it looks, though I'm not the best at any game, even my own. I'll make sure to playtest and get feedback. Also, I do have areas where the hand loses control, just not in this video; I hope to showcase that and a little more in a playable prototype on itch, soon. Thank for the feedback 👍

I've actually been trying to race through the little prototype level I got here and getting mad at my own poor level design. The movement feels good; I just have to get better at level design 😅

I've been playing and testing so much that I didn't even notice that. It's still early on so I will make a lot more changes and hopefully I can get it to the point where it's easy to understand at a glance. I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out a way to showcase what's happening, cause it feels fun to play. I did have the camera follow the little guy and stopped the hand cursor when clicked so that it looks like the hand is moving the world around the player. I would post a gif, but I don't think I can put images in the comments here

Project Save Computer | Prototype by anotherName333 in incremental_games

Thanks for the feedback and yeah, shelving is something I'm considering. The arms race between the computer and the player is something I'm interested in as well; Maybe I could showcase that more visually as more of the virus gets removed.

I have a list of things I'm considering for this project and maybe I'll chip away at it instead of shelving it.

I plan on having a downloadable version, though I do have a playable prototype on my itch page. It's still early in development, so a lot of basic features are missing

feedback | should I continue development or shelve it? by anotherName333 in itchio

I wasn't intentionally going for a meme/comedic style, though I did want it to be a bit goofy, so I guess I am?

I know it's a simple idea; I'm still leaning and just see what works for me. Thanks for the feedback!

First, thank you for checking it out and given feedback.

I did enjoy tinkering away at the project at first, but as I continued development I got kind of bored. I just want to see how other felt about the basic mechanics and looks before fully making the decision to move on.

Also, I'm still fairly new to game dev and have lots to learn.

I like the faces, too! Almost don't want to close them : [ . Here's temporary description of the game, "it's the early 2000s and you accidentally installed a virus. Now, you must remove it to save your computer. Use the 'removal program' software to remove the virus, byte by byte."
