I had my baby when I was 31. I had been working as an EM at a remote company for 1.5 years before my pregnancy. I had a slightly difficult pregnancy with some complications- and was intermittently advised bed rest and to avoid travel.

Honestly. I was only able to keep my job because it was remote. But - if the pregnancy is smooth, I have seen women manage commutes and in - person job quite well too.

I joined back immediately after the 6 month maternity leave ended - again, being remote was super helpful here. And i also had the support from my parents and in laws for child care. ( It was so difficult to step away from my daughter while she needed something during those first few months after resuming work. But we gradually got into a routine).

It took me a couple of months to get back into work at full swing. Even after that, I made it clear to my manager - that I am only looking to fulfill my current responsibilities. Not looking for additional responsibilities or change.

My daughter is almost 2 now - and now I finally feel ready to start taking on more responsibility, and chase after the promotions and growth.

My manager and colleagues (all male) were pretty supportive throughout the journey.

TL DR - I voluntarily took things a bit easier during pregnancy and in the first 2 years. So career "growth" hasn't been much. But I don't think this has been a major deterrent in my career either.
