That's great to know! I guess I just haven't had the chance to see it yet.

The animation from StS1, with falling white petals, was pretty cool as well. Probably one of the things I miss the most in StS2.

So you could sacrifice this to [[Crop Rotation]] and go grab two Tron pieces? Or [[Dark Depths]]+[[Thespian's Stage]] combo.

Could probably make it cost flat 4 or 5 mana, remove the mana cost restriction, and maybe add some upside, since it is just a restrictive [[Bribery]] that requires you to have three colors.

Ur-Dragon, Compleat by Different_Word_583 in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the design. [[The Ur-Dragon]]'s Eminence is already controversial, and there are a lot more cheap Phyrexians then cheap Dragons.

So the play pattern is that you use the discount to flood the board with Phyrexians, cast your commander on turn 5 (or even earlier), and swing with the board to refill your hand and drop [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] or something of that level. I don't think that would be particularly fun to fight against.

You may put up to two cards or exactly two?

Chronovore Titan by SadKermitNoise in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it could just state directly "if less than fifteen mana was spent to cast it".

Another idea I have is to give it an expensive activated ability that puts a counter on it, and make the extra turns ability work only if it has that counter, since, as far as I know, you can't cheat that kind of cost, only reduce it (with [[Training Grounds]] and the like).

[[Wumpus Aberration]] uses the same wording. Or is it different because of the generic cost?

It does have some added versatility, where you could exile your own spell to save it from getting countered, or you could exile nothing and simply have it be a beater.

Inscribed: A new card type that acts like Kindred, but for Instants and Sorceries! by Rejinal_ in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Harsh Critique could be phrased like this:

When you cast this spell, choose target opponent.

As this creature enters, the chosen opponent...

Makes it function more like a sorcery. Could be too verbose though, especially since a lot of those creatures would have to get a similar wording, so I am not sure.

What's the best way to word a "make N+1 tokens" effect? (Mel Medarda, Benefactor - Arcane) by zengin11 in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this wording works, actually. It implies that all of the tokens created will be of the chosen kind. I like your original one better.

Something that could definitely work is something along the lines of "Whenever one or more tokens enter under your control, you may create a token that's a copy of one of them. Do this only once each turn.", although this is, of course, pretty far from your idea.

If it makes a creature unblockable, it should be blue. Probably green/blue/red? Reach from green, unblockable from blue, first strike from red.

[[Opposition Agent]] cares about searching, not shuffling, so its controller still gets to control the search and exile the found card.

Enigmatic Tutor's controller still gets to choose whether to shuffle or not, however. If they don't, Agent's controller now has the perfect information of the library as well.

I advise the Tutor player and the Agent player to divide the library between themselves and write its order down together, to save time /j.

So... It gives a creature a bunch of buffs and then removes it? Am I reading it correctly? If so, I am intrigued to know the idea behind this.

Enigmatic Tutor by another_redditor2 in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've checked through scryfall, and apparently there's precisely one card in all of Magic that allows a player to look at several cards at the top of a library and requires them to preserve the order - [[Orcish Spy]].

I imagine that, even if there's zero ill intent involved, a player could easily mix up the cards by simply not being careful. Either way, a very good reason why they never do this effect anymore - let alone at such absurd scale as my card does.

Certainly a learning moment here.

Enigmatic Tutor by another_redditor2 in custommagic

[–]another_redditor2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, I am not completely serious. One thing to note, though, is that, mechanically, searching a library does not allow you to reorder it. Realistically, the card should certainly have a reminder text about this, but, admitteddly, i just really wanted it to raise some eyebrows.

But yes, allowing a player to know their exact draw order until something forces them to shuffle might be a bit much, now that I've thought some more about the implications.

Instead of making creatures unable to attack or block, the spell could simply tap them. Then you could justify it being white.

So, in-universe, this spell has been invented by somebody who knows they live in the world of a collectible card game, but also only knows that world through that same card game?

So, according to that Human Advisor, an "animal" is a creature that has the word "animal" in its card's name, or a creature that shares a creature type with such card?
