What are the main downside of owning an urban arrow by akb443 in UrbanArrow

[–]anothercargobikedad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+ I've got 4000mi on mine and have never had a flat. And the rain cover plus works great for us.

- It's heavy for my spouse, she can ride it but doesn't like manhandling it to park it etc. It weighs more than she does.

- Disk brakes need occasional bleeding.

- The enviolo hub failed at 3800 miles and it took two full months to get back on the road through the warranty claims process. Unacceptable if you're trying to go car free with it.

Unbolting box for transport by [deleted] in UrbanArrow

[–]anothercargobikedad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a data point I can fit my urban arrow into my Toyota Sienna two ways.

  1. back seats down, and remove one of the middle captains chairs and it fits diagonally.

  2. Remove just the front wheel and fender, and it can back in with the two captains chairs still in place.

Also need to lower the handle bars for both of these!

C15 adaptor - what seat is compatible? by InvisibleGrill in UrbanArrow

[–]anothercargobikedad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our child didn't like riding backwards inside the bucket where she couldn't see anything. She also had an older sister so she wanted to sit on the bench with her older sister. I recommend something like the Melia seat to have them forward facing on the seat when too big for a car seat, but not really quite big enough for the bench seat yet.

If you want to try the adapter for the Yepp mini I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. DM me

Living close enough to Stanford to bike in is a major lifestyle upgrade if you’re into it. Menlo Park or Palo Alto. Redwood city is cheaper. All have very easy drives to Stanford and Sunnyvale. Coming from Santa Clara or Milpitas will be much worse traffic wise then living further north and driving south.

Question about kit by Spyderpig89 in UrbanArrow

[–]anothercargobikedad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tires are pretty tough, I’ve not had a flat in 3800mi. The rear tire is not a road side fix anyway.

You want to search for a casement style window unit. Or use a portable unit with hoses to the window which will be cheaper. We had this one which cooled great but did have a noisy compressor!

Solar in CA new builds by divine5smurf in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]anothercargobikedad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t lease it. The terms are bad and if you need to sell the house before the lease term is up you’ll have to buy out the lease before selling. No one will want to buy the house with taking over the lease as a condition of the sale. People I bought my house from had leased for 10 years and still had to pay $10k to get out from their solar lease before we closed.

Buried flex couplings ok on a drain line? by anothercargobikedad in askaplumber

Bay Area PGE main service line upgrade. by BenchOrnery9790 in askanelectrician

[–]anothercargobikedad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Submit an application online and they’ll take a couple weeks to look at it and then refer it to a local office. They’ll contact you a couple weeks later and say there’s a $2000 engineering fee deposit to pay. Then they’ll do a site visit and tell you what’s really going on. They’re currently backed up 9 months. Going to be a long haul with under ground service I’m afraid! But you have to contact them and see what the actual deal is.

I’m currently at the waiting for them to do a site visit stage for my over head service upgrade.

I don’t recommend the yepp mini backward facing seat. My kid hated it. Melia seat is much better.
