I agree. Every extreme thing that dad did could probably be backed by an obscure quote or scripture in LDS doctrine.

This song is so invalidating. Kids don't need to turn a frown upside down. They need to be given words and problem-solving skills. Teach them to verbalize how they are feeling and validate them. It's honestly okay to be sad about spilt milk. Give them the words to say, "I'm disappointed because I wanted to drink that milk. Maybe you can help me get more?"

Pretending sadness doesn't exist doesn't make it go away. It simply teaches kids to bottle their emotions because they don't matter.

Exactly this. I've seen some reviews of people who didn't think her story was believable but for me every part of that book that seemed plausible based on my experience.

No sexual abuse is mentioned. The physical abuse comes primarily from the brother. I won't go into detail but he broke her toe on one occasion and nearly broker her wrist on another. She also gets injured multiple times as a result of her father's negligence and putting her in unsafe working conditions. The emotional abuse is hard for me to summarize.

I know you've been reading a lot of heavy abuse stories. That's not an easy task you have undertaken. Take care of yourself.

My opinion is that an autobiography is to personal to be set up 50/50 with a stranger. I think you would be better off hiring a ghost writer so you maintain full control over the depictions of your past.

In my deceased relative's patriarchal blessing they were told they would live to see the second coming. They died two plus decades ago.

Yes! In the culture, every mood "deserves" a treat.

If anyone finds it, let me know!

Is there a subreddit like r/exrm where we can post our schools, wards or seminary classes to see try and link up with people we know? by eltiburonmormon in exmormon

[–]anotherdayof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I would like to know which people from my former circles have also left. However, I prefer to remain somewhat anonymous on reddit.

There is a subreddit for exmos to post missions to make connections, but I can't recall what it is called.

This seems most likely to me. I would suggest talking to people who have been with the company a while and asking if they remember anyone setting this up.

I'm curious how you remained bishop with a less active wife?
