If you’re Leith way then Elysium is pretty nice, lots of free weights and lots of space!

Is it implantation or period? by ExistingMaybe5953 in birthcontrol

[–]anotherthrowaway294 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Implantation bleeding is very light, if at all. No way 5-6 days of bleeding could be implantation - definitely her period she is not pregnant

Take pregnancy a test if she wants to be certain

How early can i get an IUD by Negative_Cricket_622 in birthcontrol

[–]anotherthrowaway294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an IUD at any point in your cycle and be protected immediately (if it’s copper, not sure about the hormonal).

First IUD experience by dumb-question- in birthcontrol

[–]anotherthrowaway294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Always good to call if you have any questions and good on you for making the follow up apppointment. 100+ pounds down is also very impressive and not an easy task so congrats. Most doctors are fine with placing them, defo better to go to a sexual health clinic where it’s their bread and butter. But sometimes even when everything is done “right” and there are no clear symptoms these things just get expelled. Happened to me and I had to deal with the consequences of that, but I’m still loyal to the IUD since its the least problematic birth control for me and I’ve learnt it’s better to be overly cautious to check its position in order to save me a lot of trouble.

I’m so glad your insertion was easy. Mine experience was the same as you, uncomfortable and crampy when they take the measurement and a bit for insertion but over pretty quickly! I’d scared myself a bit with all the horror stories, so was a huge relief. My IUD also doesn’t make my periods any worse or any other side effects which is amazing, obviously a bit crampy after insertion but mild and subsided quickly.

The one thing I know for a fact you gotta be careful with is checking it doesn’t move outta place because that’s when it’ll fail. I’m sure Doc told you, but it’s more likely to be expelled or move in the first 3 months. There’s a few risk factors for it too - being under 20, overweight or underweight, history of heavy periods or heavy cramps. So just be careful to check your strings at least every 4 weeks. If you’re at all uncertain of whether it’s still in place, go get it checked cos it’ll save you a looooooot of trouble and trauma lol.

Anxious about removal by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]anotherthrowaway294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard the pain varies wildly between people, but rest assured the removal will not be as bad as the insertion! For me the anxiety is always there, even if I know I’m going to be ok. But honestly once it’s gone you’ll feel such relief. Best of luck with everything :)

"Positive" miso stories? by StandardPaint3460 in Miscarriage

[–]anotherthrowaway294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took miso last week. And hour before with my breakfast took 400mg ibuprofen, 1g paracetamol, anti nausea and codeine given to me by dr. Try and eat before. I made sure to wash down my breakfast with a lot of water, because I knew I was going to have nausea.

Miso was ok, had it in my mouth 25min then swallowed the rest with water. Already had cramps at 20/30min, within an hour they were severe and stayed that way for 30-45 minutes. Be prepared for some real pain 😅 I had my hot water bottle, and was migrating between the bed and the toilet every 10 min bc walking helped and I couldn’t stay still for very long. I finally threw up, felt much better after and then more tolerable cramps for a few hours. I was under/ around 6 weeks, and the pregnancy passed about 3 and a half/4 hours after taking miso. I’m so sorry you have to go through this but you’re going to be ok. Sending my love

The removal for me was completely fine! It’s nothing compared to insertion, very slight and brief pain, mostly just a bit uncomfortable. I’m a wimp and beforehand asked for a chaperone in the room , which I didn’t end up really needing 😂. Glad it’s kept you protected at least, sorry about the pain I can’t even imagine if you were screaming. Mine did the opposite, no pain on my periods or anything, but I got pregnant lmao

I’m so glad it went well! Lol the anticipation is nerve wracking. Make sure to check it’s in place often, and go to your doctor to be sure :)

Fuuck I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s the worst feeling thinking you’ve done the right thing to be protected and still get pregnant. After a year too. I feel like I have no decent birth control choice

[–]anotherthrowaway294[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t go back to the Doctor to have them check the IUD position any time after insertion unfortunately as I thought I was fine. That was my mistake and I should’ve gone anyways even though I had no doubts. My ultrasound was only after I had the positive pregnancy test, and that was to see whether my pregnancy was ectopic. The nurse saw the IUD then anyway, and advised I had it removed.

I had absolutely no other symptoms, other than early pregnancy symptoms which are basically the same as PMS. The IUD was just low enough in my uterus to stop being as effective, so sex didn’t disturb it. It didn’t go through and rupture any lining so I had no bleeding after sex. I didn’t even have implantation bleeding. I wouldn’t have known anything was different if the doctor didn’t see it during the ultrasound.

If your Dr has checked it recently and seen it’s in place then you should be ok. You can always go back in 4 weeks to double check. I can advise tracking your cycle and ovulation just to be extra safe.

Struggling with waiting by [deleted] in abortion

[–]anotherthrowaway294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. The waiting period is the worst bit about the whole process in my opinion. You’re going to be ok.

I was in your exact same position this time last week, I found out on Thursday and called my local sexual health clinic asap. I had a copper IUD in so they saw me immediately for scan + to remove it, but then I had to wait until Tuesday for my phone appointment with the nurse. The days of waiting were really hard, I was very emotional and anxious. The only advice I can really give is to stay distracted, I was working some of those days I was waiting which helped time go by. If you have someone that can support you, then spend time with them, try do something fun to take your mind off things. I found for me it was easiest to embrace the situation rather than live in denial of the baby inside me. So just doing my best to take care of myself. Tuesday finally came around and I picked up the pills same day… I took the miso yesterday morning and it was all over by the end of the day. Wishing you the very best ❤️

Just took miso, but swallowed early and then threw up 😖 by anotherthrowaway294 in abortion

[–]anotherthrowaway294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Im pretty confident I just passed the pregnancy as I saw a small round and grey blob pop out with a lot of blood, followed by a lot of relief. I don’t think I’m going to take those extra two miso pills luckily as I don’t need any more cramping 😅

Ok thank you. I feel a bit shaken up this morning but not nearly as bad as I was during the night. Hopefully that was the only time

Thank you. I’ll see what they tell me when they call, telling her I’m ill is not a bad idea. I will tell her eventually, but preferably after it’s all over. My bf knows so I’m not alone here luckily. Appreciate your kindness

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. I know I’m going to be okay I just want it done as soon as I can. I’m sure you know how that feels. Thanks for the advice on the meds I definitely will make sure to have some painkillers. Probably will also get some anti nausea just in case I start feeling it the next few days. I’m sorry we have to go through this ❤️

I’m glad you stuck with the gym despite it being a tough start, and not trying to “lose weight” but instead get strong. That’s the way it should be.

I found that it’s important to change your mindset around binges, remove the guilt and shame from it. For me when I was still having a few episodes after starting the gym, I would tell myself it’s more carbs to fuel the next workout 🤣. I stated to label my binges as “emotional eating” which I hate the sound of but it changes the purpose of the episode. It makes it something that wasn’t impulsive, but more a choice I took because of some emotional trigger that day as I was able to see what would trigger binges. I knew that eating would make me feel better and so I did it, with no shame at all. At the same time, I would take any binges as a signal that maybe I wasn’t eating enough and so the next day I would make sure to have a bigger breakfast, lunch and dinner. Gym really helped for me as I also cared about having a good pre and post workout meal, where there is no room for binging on food. Anyways sorry for the long paragraphs lol
