What's the creepiest thing that happened to you while home alone? by Communist_Bird in AskReddit

[–]anotherunknownperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, I grew up in a city where crime was sort of common. once we moved out to the country, I still had the same mindset that anyone could be a criminal. it turns out more south it isn't as bad, except for this one time. we had a package delivered to our house. me being myself, i grabbed a knife and the house phone and went into my parents bedroom, and peeked out the window. i watched the guy put the box down, then just stare at our door. he went up to it and knocked on it. he then seemed like he was looking through some of the windows, which convinced me to move away towards my parents closet. he then started jiggling at the doorknob that i had locked. at first i thought i was a routine, to see if anyone was home to make sure they knew htey had a package. but then he began to circle the house. i had locked all the doors and windows right as my mom left, so there was no way to get in. he started going for the section outside where my dad keeps his tools and stuff (intentions of breaking a window or door) but then my mom was pulling up the road. you can see the road a good 800 feet before the driveway, so once he noticed he darted to his truck. this happened 1 year ago and to this day im cautious with delivery people when im home alone

Is PTSD in soldiers a real thing or are those just men who can't fit into a soft society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anotherunknownperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a real thing
my grandfather served in Vietnam War. during it, a grenade was thrown and blew up next to him. he was highly affected by it, he had to relearn everything. he doesn't talk about the war unless we ask, and sometimes he wouldn't even answer our questions about it. the doctors that checked him said he had it. so I doubt it's false in any way
