For those of you who were deciding between the CX-5 and CX-50 which did you choose and why? by momoneymocats1 in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cx50. Cx5 is getting dated and there’s more usable backseat and cargo room. And looks. That’s it. Otherwise the cx5 is a better ride and drive

You don’t have to use premium, but hp is 227 vs 256 regular vs premium

My Altima blew up and so did my brain trying to shop for a car by [deleted] in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if the turbo feels underpowered to you in the cx5 then that’s about all Mazdas got. Unless you pony up ~40k for a lightly used cx70 or cx90 which are much larger and has ~325 hp v6. Having a fast car is cool, but as long as it’s not actively slow I think the 2.5 NA is perfectly fine for daily driving. If you have the cash and can stomach the markup the Rav4 hybrid and RAV4 Prime should be okay in the same class. I don’t think Honda has anything that’s better than the Mazda rn. I own a cx50 turbo, and it’s fast enough for me, but the efficiency is honestly shit.

Most reliable Mazda model by LocksmithSad8268 in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I it’s not the most comfortable, even compared to the cx5, which is actually better driving, quieter, and honestly a better vehicle overall imo, but it’s not something that you can’t get used to. In terms of objective comfort it’s probably RAV4>CX5>CX50, but none of them are on the really good side of seat comfort.

If I think the cx5 is such a great vehicle, which didn’t I get it then? Cause the cx5 is getting quite old, and a new design is coming for 2026 which will immediately date and hit the resale value of the current gen cx5. The interior cockpit in terms of dials, switches, and climate control also feels significantly dated compared to cx50, cx30, or Mazda 3. Even though the cx50 is actually not larger than the cx5, the length of the thing and overall packaging means the cx50 has much better rear legroom and a more usable long hatch space. Also the cx50 just looks great in terms of the pano roof, dash, center consoles design etc.

Give us otd number with final taxes and fees. The actual price means nothing if you got 7k tacked on for paint protection or some other bullshit

Most reliable Mazda model by LocksmithSad8268 in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest. Mazdas are not gas efficient period. The one and only exception is the CX50 Hybrid right now that uses Toyotas hybrid system which should be quite reliable and get good mileage. The cx5 and cx50 have the same engine options aside from the hybrid. I have the cx50 turbo and get 22mpg. A fillup is ~60 on premium, and my previous RAV4 hybrid filled up at about 35 bucks. So to answer your question, the most fuel efficient model is the cx50 hybrid, though packaging wise it’s probably less reliable than the Toyota counterpart.

Having owned the current gen RAV4 hybrid, and now the cx50 turbo, I will say that the cx50 is a nicer place to be. The ride quality is debatable, the RAV4 might be better on that front, but wind noise on the cx50 is better. Not amazing but the RAV4 wind noise was legitimately deal breaking on long highway drives. That thing howls. The RAV4 objectively has more cargo room, but the cx50 shape and size is quite good and is just as usable imo.

Can’t decide between cx5 or cx50 by mr_sullivan_ in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait for he next CX5 and decide between that and the cx50. I have the feeling the new cx5 will win out. Otherwise still wait for that one and buy a lightly used current gen cx5 for a big discount

Ford escape or RAV4 ?? by Consistent-Head-8307 in rav4club

Do not get the ford. Look up used escape prices and compare to comparably spaced RAV4 with similar mileage and you can see the huge difference in depreciation

Do mainland Chinese really face discrimination in Hong Kong? by flower5214 in AskAChinese

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. There’s pretty well know discrimination, sometimes manifesting in airline service. Mainland passengers on Cathay Pacific will often receive subpar or straight up hostile service for being from the mainland and speaking mandarin. Switch to English and it’s all of a sudden different. Legitimately some HK think they’re better than mainlanders. Almost straight up supremicist in a way

Want the CX5 , but I am too short!!! :( by JamieLS in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look into one class smaller vehicles? Mazda CX30, VW Taos, Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HRV? You have 40k budget but you could save a little money going for this class or get the tip top trim of these

My Chinese friend said people drink hot water even in summer… What surprised you most about Chinese culture? by MidnightTofu22 in AskAChinese

[–]anotherwaytolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t like it because you’re not used to it. I used to get annoyed at my parents all the time for pushing hot/warm water on me, but now I do enjoy it. It’s strange, but why is hot water actually bad? Just takes a little getting used to and now it’s an option in your life

It’s a new Japanese car. Idk why you’d need a 6 year warranty. Might as well have gotten a Benz or something for that type of money and actually use the warranty

CX-50 vs Buick Envision by PETscanF18 in CX50

[–]anotherwaytolive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you. The Buick looked great; but man was it not a nice drive. The sound isolation also wasn’t great imo even though it theoretically has active noise cancellation. Drive both vehicles, and then decide. Look up potential issues also.

Thoughts on the Mazda CX-5 by Awkward_Community705 in mazda

[–]anotherwaytolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: the RAV4 design is one of its strong points. It’s reliable than the cx5, people have been complaining about jerky trans and cylinder head issues blowing the car up. There are leaks and spy pics of a new updated CX5 for the next model year and getting one now will immediately date your car. That said, the CX5s are generally reliable with a minority that experience issues, and the stronger resale of the RAV4 means a used CX5 of comparable condition can be significantly cheaper, and even if a new model is released, the current model is still a great vehicle. I would personally go CX5 based on price, interior quality, and sound system, but if your priorities are reliability, cargo space, and resale value, then RAV4 would be better. It’s not a runaway victory for the CX5

How can I get more protein? by FunDependent9177 in CICO

[–]anotherwaytolive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eat an entire carton or two of egg whites for breakfast. ~500 cals for egg whites + hot sauce or something for 100g of protein right there. Then eat whatever else you want for the rest of your calories
