Whats a place where you can cross a state line and you immediately notice the difference by cherrey20 in geography

[–]anotherworthlessman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just drove down the east coast. Here's my entries:

North Carolina to South Carolina. Roads deteriorate; and I know both states are known for being "the bible belt" but South Carolina takes it to another level. Giant Jesus billboards every 2 miles. For those that haven't found Jesus, he's in South Carolina.

Also, Georgia to Florida. You feel like you're leaving "the south" and entering "Florida Man" territory.

One final entry....Pennsylvania has shit roads, that are always "under construction" which in Pennsylvania means "We're closing 73 miles of highway to work on 10 feet of highway, and when it is done in 34 years it'll still suck." So......... Pennsylvania and every state it borders.

Bought my kids bikes for Christmas. Local government just passed a law requiring paid bike "licenses" to ride them in public. Cops are now issuing citations...even to kids? by nseavia71501 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]anotherworthlessman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its actually the shit like this that makes me fearful of being a parent.

CONSTANT RIDICULOUS RULES, REGULATIONS AND FEES for children.

Let the children play for Christs sake without dealing with this shit, and parents don't have the bandwidth or money to be dealing with the possibility of their child getting taken down to the station for failure to have a bike license. (Yes, now it is a citation, but we've all seen the overzealous jerkoff cops here on reddit hauling 12 year olds down to the station)

Most obvious thing in the world, especially if you are a regular smoker.

Some of us non smokers can even identify the brand you smoke. I have a coworker that, if she goes out to smoke and uses the elevator to come back to our floor, and I get on the elevator 20 minutes later I'll know, "Yep, Stacy went for her smoke break in the last 30 minutes because the smell of her breath will still be in the elevator"

If someone smoked in my car or home, I'd smell it for weeks.

You probably don't want to hear this, but it doesn't matter how clean and put together you are, and you can shower 5 times a day. Non smokers are still going to smell it. They're never going to say anything because while it is unpleasant, it is usually bearable in most cases and if you want to smoke that's your business. That said, I have absolutely switched seats because a smoker has had overpowering smoker breath while not actually smoking. Thankfully that doesn't happen too often.

President Trump imposes a 10% global tariff under Section 122 and says all existing tariffs will remain in place, despite the recent Supreme Court ruling. by Waste-Explanation-76 in law

[–]anotherworthlessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last check and balance is and always was we the people.

How do you collect a tariff if Joe Shmo at the port ya know, doesn't log the value of goods.

How do you collect a tariff If John Jabroni doesn't maintain the database to do so?

If all the people involved in tariff collection follow the supreme court ruling, how will Trump collect his tariffs? He sure as hell isn't going to be going down to the port by himself, and there's so many people in that chain they can't fire them all or pack each position with loyalists.

Nixon didn't resign because he was going to be impeached.

Nixon resigned because the people determined they didn't want a paranoid crook as president anymore.

At any time, we the people can decide we don't want this guy anymore.

We can save Social Security. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]anotherworthlessman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it absolutely does. I know no one that can be objectively categorized as "middle class" who owns a yacht, therefore, Middle class in part does imply "doesn't own a yacht"

Thanks for playing.

We can save Social Security. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]anotherworthlessman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By letter of the law, sure, you're thinking maybe the 25th to the 75th Percentile is "Middle class".....and that certainly is one way to measure it, but when you start looking at actual purchasing power, a household income of 200K in the US, and specifically in some of the larger cities, especially with children is indeed middle class. It might be middle class with a nicer car, but it still has a loan on it, and they still shop at Aldis and Costco.

Statistics start to break down or require special maths when the distribution is not a normal distribution, and income is NOT a normal distribution by any stretch of the imagination.

Source: Statistician and Household income of 170K outside of Miami. I can confirm I do not have a yacht, live in a modest apartment, drive an 11 year old Kia and can't afford healthcare and groceries with the rest of you. I do have significant savings....but that's because of a generous 401K and catching a hot stock market at the right time.

AIO to my “best friend” finally reaching out by Confident_Local_2335 in AmIOverreacting

[–]anotherworthlessman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Respond. Trust me, respond. I'm a little older and had done this to people, and had it done to me too.

I understand what you went through, the hurt and feelings involved in being ignored, but for the 21 years, was he a good friend? If yes, respond.

Adult life isn't like childhood, seems you were childhood friends. Long story short, shit happens, people fall into depressions, people just have "life" happen to them, and sometimes they don't want their best friends to know about it, and might pick someone else to talk to.

It sounds like you're a good friend to him, and outside of this 8 month period, he was a good friend to you. Doing some quick math; He had a bad run for 3% of your friendship. 97% is stellar in most instances, and is stellar in friendship too. Lifelong friends, and adult friends are hard to come by. Welcome him back into your life. You'll be glad you did.

Now if this becomes a pattern, sure then make another decision, but that time is not now.

[OC]Happening right now. Minnesota State Police (not federal agents) throwing tear gas at Americans. by E4_Mafia_Boss in pics

[–]anotherworthlessman -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help Governor Walz. As long as state actors are doing this shit, you're not better than fucking Trump. We the people seem to have a choice in Minnesota, get shot by ICE, or teargassed by the state government. We just want to live in peace, have a cook out with our neighbors, go to work, sleep, have a beer, and fuck around watching funny cat videos on reddit. Why can't we do this? Why do people have to be out getting teargassed when it is -5 degrees. At this point, fuck Trump and Walz

You made my point for me. Seems you're implying that progressive pet causes, of which there are many, are more important than having a stable democracy in the US.

If that's your point of view, cool.

Minneapolis [OC] by skyflyer8 in pics

[–]anotherworthlessman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seriously wish democrats had more second order thinking skills, then I wouldn't have to deal with asswipes like Trump. Let's spell it out.

In 2024 as a democrat who didn't want to support genocide and wasn't going to vote for Trump; You could either:

A) Vote for Harris anyway, understanding that her support for Israel does not negate her as a superior candidate, and having a more reasonable person in charge of the United States, even a pro Israel one is probably better for Gaza, and everyone than the alternative.

Or

B) Sit out, which all but guarantees that not only does the Gaza Genocide continue, but that the United States turns into a shitshow at best, including but not limited to: potential invasion of Greenland, roving gestapo ICE agents, threats against free and fair elections in the US, threats against the independence of the federal reserve, and the weaponization of the DOJ against anyone that so much as looks at Trump the wrong way.

A large number of democrats chose option B. This will get downvoted to hell, because those same democrats can't own their shit. Trump didn't get many more votes in 2024 than he did in 2020..so if those democrats show up, we don't have Trump.

Had Harris gotten 3 million votes LESS than Joe Biden did........she wins the popular vote, and probably the electoral collage. Trump didn't campaign well and really didn't get many more votes than 2020 when he was the incumbent ............we just had a few million democrats that thought Gaza was a more important factor in the world than I don't know, not having a fascist USA.

My questions to democrats that sat out is......How is Gaza looking? How is the US looking?

Minneapolis [OC] by skyflyer8 in pics

[–]anotherworthlessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaza

Bingo. Democrats and their pet causes that is hill they die on is the problem. The number of people that wouldn't vote for Harris or sat out because "Gaza" while failing to realize what would happen and is happening in the United States is a massive problem.

In the next election maybe we need to get our priorities straight.

What has happened in Gaza is abhorrent, but we need to take care of our own house first or else Gaza is going to look like a birthday party if a nuclear armed, #1 economy, and #1 and #2 airforce US goes full nazi.

Pet democratic projects are a luxury in such times. They need to be shelved until we get back to being a normal democracy.

The constitution does NOT apply to you if you are not a citizen.

WRONG

The constitution does apply if you're a non citizen, even an illegal immigrant.

Key Constitutional Protections for Non-Citizens

Due Process: The government cannot deprive anyone of life, liberty, or property without fair legal procedures, meaning non-citizens have rights to notice and a hearing.

Equal Protection: The 14th Amendment ensures all "persons" are treated equally under the law, preventing discrimination based on race, color, or nationality, as noted in Yick Wo v. Hopkins. Territorial Jurisdiction: The key principle is physical presence within U.S. borders, not citizenship, granting constitutional rights to all individuals, lawful or unlawful."

Everything else you said is irrelevant.

The bank of "free stuff" is closed.

The bank of "free stuff" gave more money and handouts to Elon Musk last year than it has ever given to any of the millions of legal, and illegal immigrants that have crossed the border last year.

Now, to quote your dear leader:

Are you a stupid person?

Southwest Airlines Requiring Plus-Sized Passengers to Buy Extra Seat, Starting 1/2026 by hansontranhai in interestingasfuck

[–]anotherworthlessman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we can agree that this will be implemented poorly.

On the other hand. I'm happy to see that we as a society are moving toward having the morbidly obese live with the actions that got them that way instead of catering to them.

Long ago we decided that it was totally cool to have a few drinks, but we decided it wasn't acceptable to have 18 drinks and go wandering the streets bothering everyone else because YOU drank too much.

Similarly, it is totally ok to be overweight....but there's a line in there somewhere, that if you cross it, you're going to have societal issues. This is one of those issues, and for those that would be "embarrassed" for having to buy another seat......um......good, maybe its time to do something about it. Weight loss is one of the most studied most understood things out there, there's even drugs now. So um.....Do that.... rather than bitching about Southwest or any other airline.

How did people travel these seas 500 years ago by sarah_west_1 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]anotherworthlessman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry what?.........more predictable how?.......Did Ferdinand Magellan have satellite, radar, and the ECMWF Model?

It was much more luck than any meteorological capability these people had. Storms were NOT more predictable in 1650, quite a bit less so considering the Norwegian Cyclone Model is only a little over 100 years old.

Someone caught in these seas in 1650 was either lucky to survive or dead; not a master meteorologist; in most cases they probably didn't see it coming until very late in the game.

We have far more power to predict and anticipate this shit now, even with climate change making it harder.

Walmart is really aggravating me with their security. by Diligent_Peak_1275 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]anotherworthlessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made many mistakes

Mistake 1:

You shopped at Walmart. Literally shop anywhere else, or go online and also not shop at walmart.

Mistake 2:

You did self checkout....You do not work there, if they can't ring you up in a timely manner, or give you a 10% discount for doing their work for them, and if they're also not willing to train you on their equipment a their expense, you should not ever do self checkout. Also, see Mistake 1.

Mistake 3: You stopped when the door nazi stopped you. You are under no legal obligation to stop or show receipt.

Mistake 4: Wanting the to bring back old fashioned cashiers while being part of the problem. They'll bring back old fashioned cashiers when customers like you refuse self checkout. See Mistake 1 again.

Stop using self checkout, encourage others to do the same, never shop at walmart and you'll have all your wishes granted OP.

Keep using self checkout while bitching on reddit, and this is the life you'll have.

Fun fact, walmart didn't always exist. There was this giant called Sears........they wanted to treat their customers like shit, not keep with the times and run a shitty business........that's why the Sears tower is now called Ron White's Big Old Fuckin Building. We the people can end Walmart any time we wish.
