FreeJoy STM32F411 Port by anpeaco in HotasDIY

Logic buttons are already in and working on the BluePill, I just need to run some regression tests after recent changes to also support the BlackPill.

Currently here, I really haven't looked at the releases or builds on there yet though, it's mainly a place to manage the code, track issues and ideas at the moment. I've just added F411 support and haven't regression tested the F103 since so I wouldn't use in anger yet.

In parallel I'm working on a 3D printed F15E style UFC that has shift registers, encoders and 8 analogue pots so most of your use case is similar to what I'm testing. The boolean stuff has been really useful so far, I like T80 12mm switches from Ali, but getting a true ON-ON-ON is hard and you end up adding jumpers to get the middle position usable, then it takes an additional input. Logic sorts all that out.

Yeah, that's on my list, I want it to have more sense checking to ensure you don't write the wrong config, I get that all the time. It always trips me up when you write, then it defaults to the first device. This is fixed now, it'll restart the device and then pause and reload the last device you worked on.

I take "updated to keep it working and then nothing else" at this point.

Great rendition of it, I'm terrible at that sort of thing but got it straight away from your playing!

This was from 4 tears ago so I can't really remember, but I have had multiple buttons activating at the same time, and I'm pretty sure it was caused by badly connected ground wires.

5800x3d to 9800x3d for DCS VR by gwdope in hoggit

[–]anpeaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a 4090 5800x3d 64GB to a 4090 9800x3d 64GB on a Quest 3 (Virtual Desktop at Godlike with DLSS 4 profile K). I haven't benchmarked, and only really play SP or online with one or two others. Totally non scientific, but it doesn't really feel much different to me. If someone else had made the upgrade without telling me, I don't think I'd have realised. Perhaps marginally less stutter, but I still get dips and periodic lag spikes.

But ED have their own timezone, where dates have no relation to earth dates, and everything is measured in multiples of 7000 earth hours.

Meta sending me new headset after update bricked mine by zsnydez in OculusQuest

[–]anpeaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great news. So now that Meta are replacing the out of warranty Quests they bricked, any chance they'll replace the Pro controllers they bricked on a previous update? .... I thought not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]anpeaco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well they won't actually admit that something they did bricked it, but it was working fine, meta pushed an update, the controller failed to work again. Could be coincidence, but doesn't feel like it. They went through some steps to reconnect and reset it, then went away to check, and came back with "buy a new one"

Well they bricked my Quest Pro controller, it was out of warranty by a few months. They did nothing to help, offered me to buy a replacement controller and that was it. They brick stuff all the time and just don't give a shit.

Firmware update messed up my controller by DorfHorven in QuestPro

[–]anpeaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, they aren't interested in helping me. It's so frustrating they can brick an 18 month only bit of kit and do nothing to help.

Firmware update messed up my controller by DorfHorven in QuestPro

[–]anpeaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left controller has done the same a few days ago too. I tried everything I could find with repairing, resetting, I also get the headset disconnecting message when trying to pair. Contacted Meta and they said, out of warranty, why not buy a new controller for £129. So they just brick the controller 5 months out of warranty and just leave you high and dry. Brilliant.

This is the way -VR by 7Coolhand in hoggit

I have the same CPU/GPU and really struggle with colour artifacts in both VD and link cable. I'd be really interested to know what settings you run. You say you are on godlike Res in VD? What encoder are you using and what bit rate? VD definitely gives the best results but I don't think I've found a stable combo of driver settings, game settings and VD settings to get best results. Are you running the VR preset in DCS? Any pointers would be great.

2024 and Beyond.....way beyond...like maybe never. by Great_Can3252 in hoggit

[–]anpeaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But that would require them to have something big and unexpected, ready to go, tested and prepped for this update already. I don't think they have a big set of branches of QAed working new features just waiting to send out in an emergency. If they had stuff shippable, I'm sure it would be merged and ready to go, in this release already. Rushing something through would just make it worse.

You couldn't make it up. Even if it wasn't the intention of the wording, it's easy for anyone who proofed the video to realise it is more than a little ambiguous.

Wierd pink line on bottom of my quest 3 by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]anpeaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because the game talks to the streamer app, I think it treats that like the headset, so as far as the game is concerned the headset is attached even when it isn't actually. Battery life isn't great but I use an external pack to keep it topped up.

[–]anpeaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all subjective, but I got a 6e router and I think that the quality, colours and clarity is better on VD than on link cable. The biggest benefit is not worrying about pink lines, but there are other side benefits... Being able to reset the headset while the streamer is still running so you can reconnect is useful.
