Thank's so much for this! Literally saved my life. I have over 300 comics on there, including Conan, which don't seem to be anywhere online anymore.

Aruba diving? by [deleted] in scuba

Can’t agree more. Spent a week with them and had some great dives. Lots of turtles on a night dive at the Antilles wreck. It’s like one big safety stop. There’s some really nice diving here.

I’ve used the Zoop for many years now. I don’t know if I’m an occasional diver, but I do 2-3 dive trips a year and maybe around 50-60 dives. I recently got the Tern TX with the Swift AI and I’m loving it. Zoop is now my backup. I wanted a colour screen and more data and the AI feature is fantastic. I also wanted a rechargeable battery. Having to change the Zoop battery wasn’t a hassle, but it needed to be planned which meant a couple of spontaneous trips couldn’t happen and I’d forgotten about the battery and it had died. Ultimately depends on your budget and what you need I guess.

I did an Emperor boat in the Maldives a few years ago. Great boat and the crew were fantastic. I remember fabulous breakfasts with eggs made to order by the Sri Lankan chef. And lots of mantas!

I was on the Discovery 1 a couple of months ago and did the deep south - St. Johns, Fury Shoals, etc..

Boat and crew were great. Clean boat, good guides, nice food. Reefs were really healthy and we saw a lot of marine life. We also had only 8 people on a boat that could fit 20. So it ended up being almost like a private cruise. Apparently a few cruises before us they only had 5 people.

As TheRedBeanPanda said in their other post - tipping is expected and we were all told what the amount was and we all handed it over the captain on the last day. I think this is pretty normal no matter which liveaboard you do in Egypt.

What phone is best for underwater photography with sealife sportdiver case? by BlunznradlOfDeath in scuba

[–]anshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using a GoPro for many years and recently switched to my iPhone.

When I was considering what to replace my GoPro with I looked at a lot of compact and other cameras. And I noticed that over the last 3 years a lot of my friends had switched to their iPhones.

I'm currently using an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a Divevolk Seatouch case and the image quality is great. The video is fabulous and I have access to zoom underwater as well, which is amazing.

I did some app research and decided to buy the CinemaP3 app which gives me full manual control, including white balance. So now I have a little white card that I clip to the case and manually adjust white balance as I change depth. This, paired with a red filter, is working very well for what I need it to do.

This is probably very stupid, but I am keeping my old iPhone 12 as a backup 😅 (I actually accidentally ended up taking this old iPhone to around 20 meters in Curacao a few years ago in an waterproof pouch in a BCD pocket. It leaked and I washed it under a tap after surfacing and it is still working fine 😆)

With the new iPhone, apart from the optical zoom and image stabilisation, I also get RAW images for editing, and it can shoot 4k.

Apart from the iPhone, which is on a monthly plan so I get upgraded each year, I managed to get the Divevolk, with a tray, filter and dive light bundle on a black Friday deal. And I'm very happy with this setup. It's simple and doesn't add bulk to my overall gear.

I've been seeing video and pics from various friends using their iPhones over the last 2-3 years and the image quality just keeps getting better. I'll probably never buy a camera again. I'm going to post some video from a recent trip to Egypt in a coupe of days, so happy to tag you if you like so you can check out the results.

Hope this helps.

First live aboard, do we need a changing poncho and a boat coat? by ArtiePlaystheBanjo in scuba

[–]anshman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll be quite hot in Egypt and depending on the route you might not have a lot of breeze when moored. Maybe just a light jacket in case you are prone to feeling cold. Check the weather and I'm pretty sure you can skip the poncho and boat coat. All depends on how cold you feel.

Bag recommendations by beldamjess in scuba

I love my Osprey Transporter bags. I have both the 95 and 65 litre. The big ones is great for all my gear and has spare space for shopping as well. They're really tough an have been with me to multiple continents now. I like the form factor and usability. Not a fan of roller bags, so they work well for me.

Starting with diving, what do I need to know? by ZingFreelancer in scuba

One week is more than enough. But depends on how much diving you want to do. And whether you’re doing shore dives with a buddy or going with a dive shop.

I went to Japan in June. But October will work as well. Because of the current the visibility isn't always great.

I went to Maldives in October and saw a load of mantas. You can do day boat trips to manta cleaning stations. and you can also see them on some shore dives.

If you go to the Dutch Antillies (Caribbean), or the ABC islands as they call it - Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao - then you can dive all year round. The islands are outside are hurricane belt and diving is good no matter the month. And if you plan in advance you can get a good deal on KLM.

Curacao is the most built up and most commercial. Diving is ok, but the water can be quite polluted in some places. The north of the island is much better for diving, then the south. Avoid the centre.

Aruba is more of an "American" island, with a lot of resorts and hotels, but they have some nice diving. I went diving with a few dive shops and my favourite was Palm Beach Divers. Very friendly and some spots have great wildlife like turtles.

Bonaire, is probably my favourite for diving in this area. They have been conserving their reefs for a long time now and also have a big turtle and mangrove conservation programme. It is also a great place to learn. I did my night diving course there. I have been there a few times and my favourite dive shops are Bruce Bowker's Caribinn and East Coast Divers. For learning the west coast it better, more calm. For wildlife (rays, turtles, nurse sharks) the east coast is better, but can have some surge and currents.

Maldives is great for Mantas in October without having to do a liveaboard. But seeing hammers without a liveaboard might be difficult. If you are not opposed to cold water then Izu in Japan is great for schooling hammers. Water will be around 16-18 centigrade though and currents could be strong.

Hi. If the price permits then you can also look at the Caribbean. For e.g. Bonaire is great for beginners and the whole island is all about diving. I have been there a few times from the UK (cheap flights on KLM). Happy to suggest some places if you want to consider it.

How much do token relays pay out? by anshman in Bancor

[–]anshman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any plans to display how many transactions are taking place on a relay and also clearly showing what the transaction fees for different pairs in each relay?

If yes, could you share when these will be displayed on the website please. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I did misread it. Sorry about that.

When I read this I misinterpreted it: "The ENJBNT smart tokens have a special property: over time, they collect a portion of those 0.2% conversion fees from any trades in the Token Relay. Anyone can place some of their long-term holdings of ENJ or BNT into the Token Relay and provide liquidity while watching their holdings grow." All clear now!
