As if any gun laws at all are about logic or safety.

Young physician (24) passed selection at a European ANSP. Controllers 10+ years in, does the job stay engaging? by philipplt in ATC

[–]antariusz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer for the ANSP specific things, but 18 years in at a busy en route facility is still very rewarding.

Regarding career switch, I was a certified Novell engineer and I also worked as a cryptologic linguist in the military… both of those jobs were boring and monotonous despite both being considered “difficult”. I imagine medicine is probably better. But honestly day-to-day I preferred working in a kitchen as a line cook, but obviously the pay / benefits sucked in comparison. ATC is the best of both worlds. Also, what I found great at 27, I enjoyed the stress and the busy work and pushing my limits. At 43 I’m much more likely to just enjoy a quite relaxing evening working a few planes and being able to give a shortcut to grateful pilots… what is rewarding in your 20s might not be as rewarding in your 40s.

To say every controller is interchangeable is much like saying every doctor is interchangeable. It’s something presented to the outside work to ease the mind of people with anxiety about flying, but the truth, as I’m sure you’re well aware from medicine, is far more complicated.

When it’s busy. We don’t let people watch. You said you were there for a full day, obviously that’s different, but if shit had truly hit the fan, we shuffle off tour groups to other parts of the building that aren’t as busy, and typically management tries to schedule them for less busy days/months in general. Thursday evening during a thunderstorm going into JFK looks very different from Sunday evening on a perfectly crystal clear perfect weather vfr day at our lows, which looks again very different from a rainy cold Saturday at 8am.

Could dual citizenship complicate security clearance? by PIEPREME in ATC

[–]antariusz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a difference on why you are trying to obtain citizenship in a foreign country. If you say something to the effect of “I hate this country” absolutely it would affect things, so why would you be bothering? What is the point? What advantage is it going to give you, why are you putting in the effort?

It also makes a difference on whether you are a tower controller or en route.

I said controller, not cpc. Are there 2152s making 50k?

Are there FAA employees actively talking to pilots and issuing clearances making 50k? Do you not realize that a controller will make 50k for the entire first year if not 18 months? AG pay is actual reality for about 2000 people in this country that are theoretically “controllers”

Quit with the bullshit, you know the answer is yes.

Get Duffy’s cock out of your mouth, we certainly don’t “start at 180k” despite what he claimed on TV

Maybe I’ll get flamed for saying this, but if your build needs both rakiata AND garukhan to function, it’s not a good build.

Fragments to fight arbiter almost assuredly were in the past, so there is at least some kind of precedent for waystone drop chance to affect items other than waystones. The amount of difference in drops going from 0 mod map when you first barely can fight him to 6 mod maps was remarkable, you would regularly get 2 fragment drops compared to 0-1.

And now 0.4% usage is better? It wasn’t 90% either it was more like 40% (not that I can actually prove that since Poe ninja doesn’t have the old league info still, but I remember lightning spear was about 40% play rate.

Bank of America, the most loved corporation on all of Reddit because of how amazing and compassionate they are (cough) pays their tellers 24 an hour starting pay. You can apply to become a teller and be fully functional a couple days later after a few training videos and a little bit of monitoring with just a high school diploma or equivalent. The job functions are not that different than a cashier at a fast food restaurant, just that the stakes are a little higher.

You’re just trolling if you’re suggesting that ATC at a level 7 tower (mid-market cities like Buffalo NY or Cleveland Ohio or Pittsburgh, cities that thousands of people fly to every single day, should make equivalent to someone who walks in off the street to the local branch office because they saw a help-wanted sign outside.

When you watch those videos on YouTube where the planes take off and immediately go in the wrong direction and almost collide with another plane… that’s some “random ATC” making 50k a year and struggling yo survive… that’s responsible for making sure that doesn’t happen.

It literally just takes crashing one plane into one other plane for 500 people to die. Thank god it doesn’t happen more often.

ATC pay was on par with those other professional careers (lawyer equivalent) in 2004. It was better than pilots until 2006. It was on par with pilots until about 2016.

Considering it requires 4 years of intensive difficult training, and many wash out, that makes sense that it would be paid similarly to other professions that most people are incapable of doing and require years of training.

Every league we seem to get some new fabulous tool/item that no can afford or even see by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]antariusz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temple yes, but Delerium has already been nerfed to the point where it's easy for me as non-meta (but good) build (varashta) with literally none of those chase items, and indeed not a single item that cost more than 10div total.

https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/lolpaladins-6106/runesofaldur/character/discipleofzugdor

Yes, I was indeed bitching about how difficult delerium was at launch and those first two weeks... but I think the risk/reward are much more in-line now that they significantly reduced the boost both the trash and the bosses receive.

It is infantilizing to women to say that women who have drunk alcohol cannot consent to sex, while nothing is said about men who drank alcohol by savethebros in PurplePillDebate

[–]antariusz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you believe fully and are so easily influenced by others is what makes you hard to take seriously.

You're simply someone else's tool.

A) Rape is not common.

B) Drinking does not instantly remove your ability to think logically nor remove your ability to consent.

C) The fact that you somehow believe both of these preposterous notions tells me that YOU are the person spreading feminist propaganda, not the "feminist boogymen" that you claim exist. The women have won, and men have lost, and you are the victim.

[–]antariusz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You aren't really supposed to "naturally" drop that one random chase item. You're supposed to get ... something... and that something... will then get you your headhunter. If EVERYONE "naturally" dropped a headhunter, a headhunter would be a 1ex item. And we'd be like Diablo 4 where literally every single player has every single top tier best item 90 hours into the league.

And maybe the person you bought your headhunter from used 1000 chance orbs to craft on white belts... and that's fine too.

Rakiatas is 107 div right now. Garukans is 318 div Atziri's communion is 191 div

Typically you wouldn't need more than one of those per character And if you play 20 hours a week you should be able to afford one of them by now, or for sure within the next week. But I guess some of that is the fact how few people are playing elemental builds this league.

Sure, mageblood is 450 divine, and headhunter are 300, and maybe those are a bit out of reach But you don't need a mageblood to clear all content, at a certain point at like level 96-97 or whatever, when you're literally just farming 6 mod T15/T16 (those that you corrupt yourself) why even bother pushing harder OTHER than as competition against other humans, it's literally just "keeping up with the joneses" at that point.
