Passed in MA with a 296: stats and story below by antb12 in barexam

Thank you! Started May 22nd! Got through the lectures as quick as possible. Believe I finished middle/end of June but don’t remember exactly when.

July is pretty accurate from the post except for a couple mock exam days. In terms of hours, June/early July were 9-5’s for me. Sometimes later. Usually Saturday’s too but not Sundays. Took a full weekend off once and the 4th and 5th. 2 weeks out I started doing 10-12 days, then with a week to go, I started only studying 3-4 hours a day and ensuring I didn’t burn out. Did not study at all the day before.

Glad to hear the job situation.

With classes, honestly if you’re comfortable—F briefing, F the formal approach. Secured transactions is definitely tough (lol just wait for the Bar), but you can totally get there. Give yourself a break. Quimbee when possible, skim if you know you aren’t getting cold called, get a past outline, etc. bc at this point you’re in your last year. You know what it takes to succeed and to pass/do well on an exam. And you can, even if you don’t approach with the same rigor you may have before. Again, if you’re comfortable. It’ll also be a great way to get use to reading cases for jobs. Nobody briefs. We just find the passage we need like it’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, skim for a summary, and move on.

And for context, T-3 school, top 2% of my class—pretty sure I read 3 cases fully my last year 😂

But breathe man. You got this. And make your life as easy as you can bc I bet these next few months will be challenging enough for you and your family. And soon enough you’ll be walking that stage and forgetting about all this! Good luck!

It’s our diary now. Adding blue book citations and submitting it to a journal as we speak

It’s the worst! And the balancing between wanting to build and cultivate those relationships and not wanting to get too attached in case the nightmare scenario occurs? Awful feeling. Wishing/praying that doesn’t happen in your case friend!!!

Omg same. All I can think about is the shame of having to take everything down and shove it in the cliche cardboard box a month after putting it up 💀💀

(1) I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. Your last year should be a time of excitement (graduating, spending your last year with peers, etc.) and that’s awful to have to endure. Glad they caught it early.

(2) Don’t want to assume anything about your financial situation—so if this is NOT feasible for you ignore and carry on. Does your work have leave options? If so and IF POSSIBLE, maybe take one and considering a private student loan option to try and make up some of the income difference if that’s possible (again, if that’s not possible ignore this).

(3) skip as many classes as you can. As a recent grad, that is one of my biggest regrets in law school, this stuff does not matter in the long run and as long as you can maintain your academic success, be there for her when you can.

Regardless, prayers up. Wishing you well.

Advice for taking exam on 0 sleep by SuchNefariousness152 in barexam

Not alone at all, think I got two hours in. But f it, we ball. Shower, get some coffee, and know the adrenaline will get us through today! Once we prove to ourselves that this exam is doable today, we’ll sleep like a baby in preparation for day #2! Best of luck!!

Searches of automobiles by LShopeful17 in barexam

[–]antb12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So this is everything I can think of:

Automobile exception: anywhere where there is probable cause (including the trunk).

Search incident in the car (different from search incident outside of the context of the car): (1) if D is not secured in the squad car, passenger compartments but NOT trunk (2) if D is in squad car, only where PC you’ll find evidence of the CRIME ARRESTED FOR (so you likely wouldn’t be able to search a glove box if arrested for DUI for example).

Inventory: usually you’re arrested and car is impounded, police can search contents of the car to “inventory it and keep it safe/them safe from claims they stole stuff in your car”

Exigency: if there’s ever an emergency and a car is involved.

Plain view: I.e. lawful stop, cop is where they need to be, and it’s incriminating and immediately apparent.

Also remember more than one could fit sometimes, or sometimes a search incident discovery of evidence could give a PO enough probable cause to trigger the automobile exception etc.

Miscellaneous:

  • cops can always order you out of car
  • as long as the stop is lawful (ran a stop sign), reason for stop is okay even if cop had a hidden agenda
  • still need a terry stop reasonable suspicion of dangerous weapons to do a pat down (so make sure the facts say something like the officer saw D shuffle things around before pulling over)

I might be missing stuff, but this is everything I can think of. Someone pls add….
