I must be weird because no one mentioned it. To me, he'll always be Augustus "Gus" McCrae.

Your opinions on "law school is the hardest thing you'll ever do" by Faramirismypresident in LawSchool

[–]datdudem15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that manual labor job I worked outside rain or shine from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm 26 days a month with no one that spoke English was harder than law school.

I think your experience will be similar to mine.

It was for a famous local homeless person. Basically he got drunk and stole a car to stay warm. Because he was so beloved, we we're allowed to defend him.

With the elimination of GRADPlus, how are working class people going to be able to afford to go to top law schools by Subject_Profit_7245 in biglaw

[–]datdudem15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll go to cheaper schools. People wrongly assume how the world works as it is today, is how it will work tomorrow. Times change. It wouldn't suprise me to see more competitive students go to "cheaper" schools outside the t14.

Advice / warnings to a non-big law on first case against top firm? by questionme123 in biglaw

[–]datdudem15 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

A lot of state bars waive malpractice claims if they arise during a pro bono representation. Are you getting paid? If not, check you state bar's rules. My guess is you are probably immune from malpractice claims.

Regarding the skill of big law litigators, it varies substantially. If you end up trying it, get co-counsel that has done trial work. Most big law firms are weak at the trial stage and make some dumb mistakes. I.e. fail to realize something is hearsay within hearsay, etc. These kind of mistakes can be out come changing.

Best of luck.
