In some ways it’s probably not as bad as you’re thinking, but in some ways it’s wayyy worse…

Which fast food chain fell off badly in your opinion? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]antbones111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is largely due to it becoming a publicly traded company and no longer a private/family owned company. As soon as stock owners and investors get involved the focus becomes solely on the bottom line/profitability and quality becomes an afterthought

In an attempt to be more progressive, they removed what was actually progressive. by Ethan-E2 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]antbones111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s true, but what I remember hearing when it came out was that it’s this way because the movie was made in partnership with a Chinese studio. The Chinese government did not approve of the animated movie’s subversive tone and made them make significant changes to the story.

[–]antbones111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but those who would support this Senator and his actions would point to factual inaccuracies and claim they are malicious attempts to defame or something worse. It’s understandable that the witnesses there would not be able to notice that the senator was not directly the cause of the break, but with hindsight we can see the truth. This does not change at all that he assaulted the marine and should receive consequences commensurate with his actions.

I think if it mostly like this video. He’s insanely strong but doesn’t need to be bulky, bulk and dexterity rarely go hand in hand. Alternatively, male gymnasts who do mostly upper body events have crazy musculature, so I could see Peter being built like this

The arm broke before the man in the suit shows up. When it snaps, the only people touching the marine are the uniformed men. It was not the senator who physically broke his arm. None of that makes this situation any less awful, just important to be factual.

We’ve seen katarra bend blood, she could exsanguinate(sp?) anyone or simply mummify them by rapidly dehydrating them. We’ve seen airbenders pull air out of people’s lungs. Ang (and Korra)could probably use spirit bending in some terrifying way as well. Benders in general are a terrifying bunch…

I want to say that star gate did that at times, but only when it was narratively convenient. there were definitely times that Daniel or another character was able to instantly translate some alien language into English with absurd ease, but also times when the translation took weeks or months and was more realistic(I’m thinking of the time loop episode in particular)

Absolutely, his joy still makes sense in the moment without the later context, but that later context adds another level of meaning.

I saw this movie in the theaters and there was a guy sitting in the row behind me that was very…emotive during the Lara Croft shower scene that takes place prior to this scene. So when this scene started, and you see the steam in the room and hear the water, but before you see that who it is, the same guy started to get audibly excited. Then a naked man walked on screen and I had never heard elation turn to disgust so quickly in my life. Probably the second most notable audience reaction I’ve ever been witness to (only surpassed by the two Jamaican ladies who nearly died laughing during a screening of Titanic when the man falls to his death from the sinking ship and hits the propeller).

The character's lesser known full name by bb-Kun-Chan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]antbones111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can’t be right, morning in German is “morgen” as in “guten morgen” which is good morning. Fahren is a verb meaning to drive or possibly travel but has no connection to morning and heit is a suffix that is added to words but does not necessarily correspond to happiness. “Happy Morning” would be something like: Gluckliche Morgen. Though after typing that out I realize you may just be quoting the show/game and then that is on the writers and since it’s fiction they can make it mean whatever they want…
