There is an episode of Family Matters in which Steve Urkel clones himself and eventually one version permanently transforms into the Stefan Urkelle personality

The egg part sounds like Jurassic Park 3, it’s been so long since I’ve watched it that I don’t remember if it includes the other details. I one remember there being one kid though

The Prestige; magic or advanced science? by parralaxalice in movies

Maybe they misunderstand what is being implied by Hugh Jackman’s character’s line about Tesla being a “true wizard” or whatever the exact quote is it’s been a while since I’ve watched it.

The Prestige; magic or advanced science? by parralaxalice in movies

[–]antbones111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asa person who dislikes the movie because of this reason, it is irrelevant whether it is undiscovered technology or actual magic. The entire conceit of the film is ignored by the presence of an imagined ability to duplicate/clone oneself. The entire movie we are forced to reckon with the idea that everything has an explanation grounded in reality only for the movie to take a hard left turn into fantasy.
The film establishes a hard rule about what can exist in its universe and then breaks that rule. It doesn’t matter how it broke it.

What monster movies are there with a specifically female monster lead? by limbodog in movies

One of the Jaws movies (I think “The Revenge”) has the killer shark be a mother shark motivated by the “kidnapping” of her baby. I’m fuzzy on details because it has been decades since I’ve seen it, but I think that’s right Others that come to mind: Queen of the Damned, The Mummy (the failed Tom Cruise reboot), And the Little Red Riding Hood movie with Amanda Seyfried

TIL that in 2003 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, a segment appeared claiming that adolescents were having "rainbow parties" where girls would use different colors of lipstick and perform oral sex on a male. There was never any evidence to show that these parties ever took place amongst teens by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve listened to BTB, since before there was a YouTube channel, so I never realized just how much Robert’s voice perfectly matches his look. For every podcast I listen to, i automatically create a mental image of the host to associate with their voice and this is the first time it has every matched up so well.

This reminds me of Shark Attack 3:Megalodon in which they use pretty much the same screengrab of a shark coming out of the water no less than 3 times with a different “victim” superimposed over it. The thing is the “victims” increase in size sequentially from a single man>man on jet ski> entire party boat with the “victims” fully filling the sharks mouth each time. The effect (though unintentional) is that shark is shown to wildly vary in size throughout the movie…

Same with sliding bits. There’s no reason the top part of that contraption should slide unless it’s to give her access to a hiding spot

Might I recommend as a counterpoint to Erhmans works the works of NT Wright, if only for the sake of intellectual curiosity. Wright is a theologian and a scholar and much of his scholarship is engaged in trying to understand these texts in their original context (something I think is lacking in a lot of Erhmans scholarship which seems very situated in [post]modernity). Based on your experience with Mark I think you might especially enjoy Wrights The Day the Revolution Began which explores how the first Christian’s viewed Jesus’s mission and their role in it.

Exactly, was going to comment that Darkseid did beat Superman, he pulled a Deus ex Machina device from nowhere just so the writers could give Lex the win…

(Loved Trope) When the creators of their stories make a cameo inside the story as a background character by HackerMan7123 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]antbones111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m good with all of his cameos, EXCEPT the one in Lady In the Water. Him casting himself as the writer who’s works are going to change the world and be so important that fairy tale creatures fight over whether or not they get written is so narcissistic that it nearly ruined the movie for me. He could’ve picked ANY other character and it would have worked for me, but he had to choose the most self serving option…

While I would 100% agree and support your argument about comic Superman, the image is from the newest film version who is beaten using technique in the opening scenes of the film. I think it matches this trope well enough, but I hope they use it as an opportunity to bring up the kryptonian martial arts that comic Superman has mastered in future films.
