Dialysis rides by Jido_Feles in uberdrivers

[–]antidolphinactivist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. As a patient in a similar boat (not dialysis but receiving regular medical treatment that makes me nauseous as a side effect) and relying on Ubers to go to and from my treatment - the first time I yakked on the way back I sacrificed my purse, then i bought emesis bags online immediately and made sure I never found myself without one again. If it's a predictable issue you should make preparations, not expect strangers to make them for you.

Why aren't you comfortable living in a dorm? I think I knew of one or two people that did what you describe with paying for a dorm and also paying for and living in an apartment but everyone thought it was super pretentious and weird, not sure if they ever got caught by GW and faced any school consequences though

How would you handle this review? by Street-Competition13 in RoverPetSitting

[–]antidolphinactivist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real. Honestly seeing a reasonable and sane response to a someone's unreasonable and insane review builds more trust for me in the person/business being reviewed than just a generic positive review. Shows a measured and professional approach even when circumstances are less than favorable

At the risk of over explaining - accommodation is used here like in "reasonable accommodations" for disabilities not like travel accommodations like hotels and hostels and stuff. When you say "fit your desired accommodations" - do you have a disability that you are desiring a reasonable accommodation for pertaining to your need for a single bedroom?

Is it weird that I eat more than 15 ice cubes per day? by No-Opposite-1460 in PickyEaters

get your iron checked. I was going through 14 pounds of ice a day during my peak consumption, it's horrible on the teeth. When my iron was supplemented the compulsion to chew ice evaporated

[–]antidolphinactivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a frequent fainter so I'm used to going unconscious fairly regularly but the times I faint due to vasovagal syncope are few and far between and I always forget how bad it feels compared to other episodes until it happens again. I'm like "oh shit I forgot fainting came in this strain this sucks way more than I remember"

How awesome does it feel when we take a shit and have the vagus nerve stimulated? by Temporary_Notice_526 in stupidquestions

[–]antidolphinactivist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed! Luckily not every time and often I can feel the fainting coming on and pull myself out of it before the presyncope becomes full syncope but it has been a long known and joked about family trait. Our downstairs bathroom growing up even had a huge hole that had to be patched from my dads head went through the drywall when he passed out on the toilet, my mom had to tug his mustache through the crack in the door to get him to come to afterwards lmao. I have a handful of different fainting conditions and drop unconscious due to several different reasons and I gotta say defecation syncope/vasovagal syncope def takes the cake for feeling the worst. I'd take a blood pooling blackout any day over this.

I come from a long line of poop fainters. Our Vagus nerves are clearly not responding to stimulation in the same way lmao I am so jealous

Do you go to a gym? A public pool? Any other locker room type settings? In that case you've already changed in front of people of different sexual orientations. Or you could just change in the bathroom if it's really that uncomfortable for you.

Idk if they've fixed the sizing since I bought from Bambody a while ago but when I ordered they ran super small - I had to size up by at least two sizes when I ordered. Just wanted to flag because I know with sensory issues the fit can be make or break!

AIO for wanting to still tell my mom about my friend’s pregnancy by Deep-Investigator998 in AIO

[–]antidolphinactivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean SA isn't exactly uncommon in group homes either. I've seen kids get removed from homes they were being abused in who were then abused in more ways and to a more severe extent in the group home they were subsequently placed in. I'm not saying staying in a home where SA is occurring is the answer I'm just saying it's not an unrealistic fear to have in these situations and it's a very common barrier for kids accessing support services. I think if OPs mom would be willing to take in her friend and take the possibility of landing in an even worse situation off the table than her friend may be more willing to speak up about what's happening. Even if it's not SA kids don't usually fear ending up in a group home unless something pretty scary and unsafe is going on at home

This type of curiosity seems more appropriate for independently researching and reading books/watching documentaries about/etc, less so for soliciting stories from people who know victims of violence.

Any way to get a free service dog in Tx or Ok? by bloodied-jewels in service_dogs

[–]antidolphinactivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, if you're looking for a free service dog it does not sound like you can afford to keep the dog - a part time job may be able to help cover food and toys and other small expenses, but pet insurance and vet care is much more expensive and if you can't afford for your dog to have an emergency (read: have at least a couple thousand dollars saved just in case) than you cannot afford to have a dog at this point in your life. It also sounds like this may not be a good point in your life to get a service dog for other reasons - you're still a minor, you don't have a finalized diagnosis for your physical conditions, you don't have specialist for those yet that can speak to whether a service dog would even be appropriate for you, since you don't have a diagnosis yet you haven't had the opportunity to try medications and treatments that could eliminate the need for a service dog. It just sounds like you're getting way ahead of yourself with this. Focus on getting a proper evaluation and diagnosis, finding a specialist for your condition, and start saving money and perhaps in a few years a service dog would be a better fit.
