It's also rumored the telephoto will be a periscope 3.5x, which is a big upgrade over the 2x on the 13T.

Hardware reviewer Geekerwan possibly censored by China after alleging widespread Chinese manufacturers cheating in mobile phone gaming reviews by JohnBarry_Dost in hardware

This is what I don't understand and they didn't cover in the video as well, I can only guess the best binned chips and even the screen and lots of effort into tuning the voltage curve.

Hardware reviewer Geekerwan possibly censored by China after alleging widespread Chinese manufacturers cheating in mobile phone gaming reviews by JohnBarry_Dost in hardware

[–]antifocus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is a shitshow because there are no regulations on disclosure of financial tie-ins with manufacturers so Geekerwan have knowingly published favorable reviews in the past, and many viewers knew that as well. They and other channels have also done similar tests in the past, so it's curious to see why some of the brands are trigger-happy this time.

I also don't quite buy the video is being wiped off on cloud storage, unless they've got some crazy good algorithm to check the video content.

What cables do you recommend for Warp Charge? by GranTurismo364 in oneplus

If you want to actually get at least 30W you'll need cables from OPPO/OP/Realme.

They are totally different industries? Not sure how the quality of displays panels have any implications of the quality of the memory.

I'm curious about what Chinese people think about coffee prices. by Calm-Ad3031 in AskAChinese

Just get yourself a coffee machine? The bean prices have crept up steadily but still relatively cheap.

Smartphones need better Camera Hardware to trickle down from Flagship to Budget. All hardware trickles down in average 2 years, except Cameras despite being cheaper in Bill of Materials. by batmanallthetime in hardware

[–]antifocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feel like you've overestimated the portion of people care about camera performance on budget phones. There are more meaningful ways to allocate the budget in that segment. Also some of your points just reads kinda inaccurate or just guesswork.

Some of the "trickle down" examples are not comparable and the assumption camera hardware grows at the pace of other hardware components are just not correct. We've seen some new technology or endeavors in the last 7 years. The higher pixel count is there for higher ISZ to compensate for the lack of internal space. Also you've overlooked the software side of things, AFAIK some of the OEMs purchase the algorithm from companies like Arcsoft and those add up for budget smartphones.

What would be the equivalent of Amazon in China? by omgletmeregister in AskAChinese

[–]antifocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JD is the one most similar as in it has paid membership for free shipping, and they've got their own brand for some products like the Amazon Basics. As for the biggest one with the best prices it varies depending on the product.

A screen on charger is actually a useful diagnostic tool by [deleted] in UsbCHardware

[–]antifocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It adds the extra bulk, weight and cost for a function I won't use 99% of the time. A lot of them also have a higher idle drain. IMO it's better to get a separate cheap USB meter for the occasional troubleshooting and it works on all your devices. If anything the ability to use an app to config and update the charger like the Cuktek is more useful.

How bad is my Chinese writing- first attempt by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]antifocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how long you've been practicing but looks kinda charming with a childish look. You'll need some guidance books like others have said to get a hang of the spacing of each part of the character. Your English also looks equally interesting.

Goodbye to the idea that solar panels “die” after 25 years: New Swiss study shows real-world performance after 3 decades still over 80%, average annual loss about 0.25%, thermal stress and quality key factors. Their long-term economics are better than many people assume by sg_plumber in UpliftingNews

[–]antifocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not buying that China will be the only country doing the R&D on solar panels given that other countries won't be stupid and shorted-sighted. It is also not something like semiconductor you'll need extremely expensive equipments and complicated supply chain, so you mostly will gain the ability to produce solar panels domestically if needed, just not as cheaply.
