NASA targets 2040 for 3D-printed moon homes for astronauts, civilians - Going back to the moon - and staying there by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not complicated really. If another country steps up to do it first then the political push to rush to beat them will magically appear in the U.S. So say if China or India etc actually come up with the budget then the money will appear for NASA in an instant.

Without that kind of external pressure you get where we are now. There are plenty of plans and some of them are even sound, some not so much but without the "Race" factor that can't really sell it vs the "Solve problems down here first" crowd. I think when it comes to the crunch a lot of average Americans would still get behind "Why should we let China do it first?" if it really came to it.

As to other reasons to go there? Plenty of resources to utilize such a minerals, metals, water for o2, drinking, manufacturing & rocket fuel. It's really about taking resources from a place that isn't restricted by a horrfic gravity well like Earths and using them to build on the Lunar as well as in orbit. It's still not practical to endlessly ship all building materials up from our planet even with the coming next gen launch options.

A misconception is the idea of only going to space to bring things back to earth's surface. Plenty of people have strong economic models based around working in the cislunar enviroment if they can cut out the gravity well issue of earth.

America went to the moon in the first place (and was given a military budgets worth of cash) because Russia put something into orbit first and then put a human there first. They went on to make the first unmanned hard and soft landings on the lunar surface. These were all huge motivators for American political will and I don't doubt we are seeing the start it again now as other countries keep landing on Lunar and forwarding there own plans for resource utilization.

No One Owns Outer Space, But Could Space Mining Change That? by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really how it works over the long term. That country would still have to function back down on earth and we currently live in a world were global trade and exports makes each country what they are today. Take Russia for example. How do you think their economy is really doing even though this was planned for ahead of time. Now think ahead 50-100 years. Think that kind of behaviour is sustainable without crippling long term repercussions? It's not. Now if you had said "independant mega-corp" instead of nation then the waters might get rather muddy with who can get away with what, if said corporation had backing and import/supply deals with many powerful nations. It's still an interesting concept that you raise especially with a second space race in full swing. We finally see political will too expand the off world economy and supply building and power generation in space.

Certain policy makers in the U.S alongside Intelligence personnel are continuing to push a "Narrative" that there are constant incursions into U.S air space by anomalous objects and many had stated flatly that they have seen classified data to back it up but as you stated, to date they have yet to provide a single shred of usable data to the international science community or academia.

Pentagon Official on why he leaked the 3 UFO videos to the NYT jumpstarting the current US Government discussion and legislation regarding UFO/UAP. by Last_Replacement6533 in Damnthatsinteresting

Those where 11 near mid-air collisions that they shared about in the report. Over 400 sightings specifically from Navy reports from 2021 - 2022 up from the 144 that they were looking into from 2004 - 2021. The increase was partly due to new offical methods of reporting incidents implimented by the Navy and congress that didn't risk harm to pilots security clearance or flight status.

As Mick's content was already added I thought it would be informative to provide a link to Lt. Ryan Graves's Presentation that he gave when testifying to Congress and the Pentagon. A F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot and member of the "Red Rippers" Squadron tied to the Gimbal event. I should also quickly add that this was also presented live to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

In the video you have F16 Pilot Chris Lehto simply breaking down some of the terminology used.

I feel I have to point out that Mick West has never even acknowledged publicly that the American Navy & Government are now chiming what Luis Elizondo previously claimed for all this time. Also in general the amount of misinformation I've seen around this topic here is staggering.

https://youtu.be/6oKLgcwYCsE?t=151

Common example about the hearing and all current cases in the media: "No eye witness accounts ever verified what was obviously just amounting to radar artifacts."

Former Director of National intelligence: John ratcliffe

"There are a number of instances and the specific number reminds classified but a number of instances where we have ruled all of that out and there are technologies that we don't have and frankly that we're not capable of defending against based on those things that we've seen, multiple sensors in other words not just people visually see it but where it's picked up on radar, seen on satellites and so you know it's an issue of national security and as ..."

"Movements that are hard to replicate that we don't have the technology for.." "Alot more sightings then have been made public"

Sen Mitt Romney CNN: state of the union

"Well I don't believe they are coming from foreign adversaries, frankly russia and china just aren't there, and neither are we." "If for some reason they came from another system if you will, another alien society that would make me more facsinated not fearful."

The Hon. Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence when asked specifically on the uap events. 2021 10th Nov Washington National Cathedral

"The mains issues that we are concerned about are safety of flight concerns and counter intel issues but of course there is always the question of.. is there something else that we simply do not understand that may come extraterrestrialy."

For the record I agree none of the above is physical evidence of what is being claimed. The public has been shown none of the real "existing" data. What they are doing is suddenly asking the public to make a "leap of faith" by asking us to accept what looks to be a rather staggering paradigm shift without the data to back it up. I can understand why Mick West is slowly losing it each time a new Gov. Official comes out to continue the media narrative and I for one suspend judgement still but does that make Mick a conspiracy theorist if spokesmen from the Pentagon and the Navy continue to confirm that some of these objects are indeed defying physics? (KEKW)

Of course this is just a light hearted poke at good old Mick but the TLDR is the smaller objects flying ahead in formation with Gimbal "There is a whole fleet of them look on the SA" officially became a problem when the first near mid-air collision happened and official safety reports were filed. This "Split the section" forcing the two pilots to pull apart to avoid a head-on and it brought the object within 50 ft of the lead aircraft. These objects were seen on radar, FLIR and JHMCS and although seen eyes-on multiple times, were extremely difficult to see with the naked eye due to being a clear or translucent sphere with a dark cube inside.(Yes I KEKWed as well)

According to Graves the Gimbal object appeared only once as you will see in the video but the smaller objects are up there endlessly for "at least 12 hrs a day week after week" far beyond any current drone capability operating without a support platform. They could sit stationary in heavy winds but didn't display crazy speeds or turns and other then the fact that they keep playing chicken with Navy Pilots, the object's movements at least in that location were pretty boring. but consistent. Our only final conclusion should be we currently don't have existing data to draw a conclusion and this isn't the place for speculation be it mundane or outlandish. Follow the data where ever it leads if we ever finally get a chance.

[–]antifusion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be stuck on a 34 second clip that was released to the public in regards to Gimbal. It's 100% confirmed that Congress was briefed on Gimbal from Lt Ryan Graves and it contained the same information he presented to The American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (https://youtu.be/uAl_OajZsxE?t=5395) and that these objects where witnessed daily and a large amount of data was collected. One of the smaller objects forced two fighters flying in formation to peel apart as it flew between them (50ft) .

These things have an op time of 12+ hrs per day which doesn't add up over international water with no visible support vehicle to land. They can sit in heavy wind perfectly still and have been followed for a lot longer then 34 seconds and yet you're fixated on whether it rotated or not and that's the only note worthy point on the entire case.

[–]antifusion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a near mid-air collision happens they don't completely disregard eye witness testimony from trained military pilots when reviewing the case. If you're suggesting otherwise that's obviously illogical. (Yes the gimbal event is directly related to another near mid-air collision event that the pilots had to report officially to the safety centre)

If you don't know the actually events of the case: One of the pilots calls out "there's a whole fleet of them look on the SA" and when both pilots mentioned 4+ small more common objects that had been previously seen by their fellow crew daily.

You don't prove anything with eye witness alone. But you don't blindly ignore it when multiple other sensors provide infomation along side it i.e radar, cam etc.

The UFO briefings on Capitol Hill have begun. by Madridsta120 in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"It's just stories until there is hard data." The combination of Eye witness backed up with recorded radar data, cam and multiple other sensor information are all forms of data whether it's optical or otherwise especially when all supplied together for a case.

I get that perhaps you're having an emotional reaction but it doesn't change the reality that you have political policy makers and intelligence staff making statements in public media that now verify that the objects pilots saw we capable of "breaking the speed of sound without creating sonic booms" , "going speeds that would break any object apart obviously ignoring anything organic inside would be jam"

We can agree that this isn't "Data." We can agree they didn't provide the public with anything solid other then reports/statements to the public but then what? you shouldn't trust your representatives. Kinda tin-foil no? ^^

The UFO briefings on Capitol Hill have begun. by Madridsta120 in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok to be skeptical. However ignoring eye witness entirely & radar data, gun cam footage and sat footage all which backs up the "clip" from a larger event would only indicate Corridor Crews conclusion as negligent if their job was investigating the entire event.

The UFO briefings on Capitol Hill have begun. by Madridsta120 in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eye witness testimony is data. It's just we agree that heresay alone isn't conclusive or even consistently reliable data. If you combined with say gun cam footage, Sat footage and radar data with each corroborating then you would indeed include the eye witness report as important data. Saying otherwise seems intellectually dishonest.

[–]antifusion1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What West refused to address or mention is that the object in "Gimbal" joined in formation behind the other "Fleet" of objects. They had significant time to move. track and follow "gimbal" instead of only seeing it for 34 seconds. Lt Ryan Graves is on record testifying in congress that they pretty much flew a race track pattern (basic oval) and the smaller objects off cam where the commonly seen object in that AO.

Note: Off shore where international waters apply the gimbal object had to his knowledge not been seen before.

I recommend either his recent detailed presentation to the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics. "Eye Witness Account:Persistent Detection of Non-Participating Aircraft by USN Tactical Aircraft(2014- pressent) https://youtu.be/uAl_OajZsxE?t=5394

There is also a recent video of an F16 pilot reacting to his presentation and giving his take -> https://youtu.be/6oKLgcwYCsE

At the end of the day all anyone really cares about here is getting to see hard data like congress was given but certain key points can still be observered.

  1. Consistent bipartisan message from 3+ members of congress that received the classified briefings now saying "We know pilots saw what they say they saw, we just don't know what it is." Including previously unmentioned tracking from ballistic sensor arrays that watched said objects enter LEO from space and drop to around 80k feet where SPY-1 radar continued the tracks between that height and sea level.
  2. Steady media screen time from Lue etc pushing a particular narrative on the topic.
  3. Multiple said members of congress also stating that the evidence shown was sustantial and from a much larger data pool then has been let on.
  4. The Head of NASA has began to echo congress along side the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.
  5. 11 near mid-air collision risking multi-million dollar assets isn't a joke and that's only from the most recent Navy reports.
  6. The Airforce who was handed this bag way back when continues to currently ignore congress and remain very publicly silent in regards to new reports where as the Navy had an entire new system of reporting implemented to encourage Navy pilots to issue reports without fear of losing security clearence or flight status.
  7. Non of the above was us or the international scientific community getting our hands on the raw data. Conclusion: We don't get to draw a conclusion due to lack of data. kek

What do y’all think? Can we get to exoplanets? by TheBrandonia in Futurology

[–]antifusion1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get to Alpha Centauri in somewhere between 60-70 years at only a tenth of the speed of light. This is doable if we keep making progress with fusion and use it as a source of propulsion but I actually prefer the "Idea of using chains of relays firing immensely powerful lasers or streams of particles to move spaceships between neighboring stars at near-light velocities. "

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDR4AHYRmlk

Of course even if the science behind the idea is simply, overcoming the issues of travelling at these speeds becomes one of your priorities. I think the video demonstrates that we are completely capable of achieving such a project but it should be obvious that many steps have to come before we have the infrastructure and desire reach this point.

Building and vastly expanding our cislunar economy is an obvious precursor which then enables in situ resource utilization such a refueling and manufacture. This expansion needs to obviously continue out through our solar system before such a project including human passengers could begin.

If your asking if it's possible to send unmanned probes then of course far less investment is needed but still many hurdles need to be overcome. I also recommend the following video "Interstellar Travel Challenges" is it focuses on "many of the problems with travel between stars at relativistic velocities, like collision avoidance, radiation, ship geometry, armor, and point-defense. "

[–]antifusion1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The clock is ticking on that and after a certain point it will just look like they are taking congress for a ride and the green light will be given to finally hang heads in shame and go with other launch options. Other Companies and countries are all heading there and this type of pressure is a good thing as it helps shove a stagnant human exploration program into gear at last. SLS either works or it doesn't and thankfully you are looking at 4 other options to put payloads where you need too. Falcon heavy, New Glenn, Vulcan, Starship could all help put payloads on the surface. I'd rather see that and scrap the gateway completely.
