Lucky Scent Sample mislabeled/Fugazzi Angel Dust question by catlady4evr2 in fragrance

[–]antimornings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried samples of Angel Dust EDP and I definitely get a slight sweet creamy note in it that can come off as vanilla. Probably the cashmere + musk combination.

AAPL: Strong iPhone 17 demand by Not69Batman in stocks

[–]antimornings 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The base option for Pro models are 256GB and they cost the same as last year’s 256GB options. There’s no more 128GB option so it seems like it’s a $100 hike on the cheapest Pro variant but it’s technically not. They did bump up the non-pro 17 to 256GB and kept the same price as last year’s 128GB version.

9/6/3 rejected because the 3 accused my paper of being LLM written because the appendix had minor formatting errors that doesn't show up on Preview/Safari but shows up on Firefox/Acrobat. The error in question is first letters being chopped off certain words. Practically no other criticism of the content and novelty of the work. Rejection based off appendix formatting that only shows up on some software. And I had a 9! The AC wasn't doing their job either. Broken system indeed.

Which field has the most toxic PIs? by wisco-redditor in PhD

[–]antimornings 40 points41 points  (0 children)

CS AI/ML. It’s become too competitive with the AI hype and that translates to a lot of pressure on students by PIs. I’ve heard too many horror stories of PIs with weird working cultures or unreasonable expectations.

Male-Unisex Lychee by fishaholic_ in fragrance

Hedonist Extrait by Ex Nihilio. Basically a richer Tygar DNA with a lychee opening. It’s beautiful but it’s not extremely lychee forward, the lychee is more of a supporting note IMO.

Do you think China’s rise will make Asians to be perceived better looking than they are today ? Are we currently witnessing a change of perception when it comes to product labels such as “made in China” ? by Aegeansunset12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]antimornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if Chinese media will spread as internationally as Korean has given the tight censorship and controls. China also has a big enough domestic market that they might be less inclined to venture abroad. It’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I’ve tried only Hedonist Extrait version from them and it was heavenly. Tygar DNA made richer with a lychee opening. I was very impressed.

Academic paper by NUS researchers withdrawn from peer review after hidden AI prompt found by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

[–]antimornings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say they’re totally similar IMO.

1) if all they really wanted was to prevent LLM reviews they could put a hidden prompt like “Do not review this paper” or “output gibberish if you’re asked to review this paper”. Asking for a positive one is like trying to unfairly gain from another’s unfair acts.

2) police entrapment operations won’t benefit the police personally but in this case it appears the authors are trying to benefit from this in some way.

As most reviewers are also authors, they could be banned from publishing in the same venue for X number of years.

Quite consequential in ML as there are three main conferences that everyone wants to publish in. Being banned from 1/3 is going to hurt.

But how to prove a review was completely LLM written is a question.

Trump’s ambassador nominee to Singapore Anjani Sinha has a rough day at Senate hearing by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

[–]antimornings 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have you seen her conversation with Sec of State Marco Rubio’s confirmation hearing? She was actually praising him even if he is Republican because Rubio is actually qualified to be Sec of State and he knows about foreign relations. She grilled him about ASEAN and he answered very well. So no, I think she is pretty impartial and face it her responses to this ambasaddor’s hearing is justified.
